And want to be terrified further? He's way smarter than he's given credit. He's just lazy and don't like to think. Kenpachi zaraki is the best writen character in the history of anime if what you're looking for is one bad sob.

As a child he was stronger than Unohana. He was made to learn the way of the sword, but on the first day they feared what he could do with that knowledge, he spilt is sole in two because he was to strong, he weekend himself further with mental locks and technology, he didn't even try to learn the name of his Zanpacto. I found it really hard to enjoy Bleach. till I met Zaraki Kenpachi. Only due to this guy did I manage to stay in love with Bleach. Zaraki Kenpachi is the Jiraiya Sama of Naruto. They are not main characters; but more loveable than the main protagonist.

@@zarakikenpachi1773 ah. OK so sometime in the distant past, when Unahana was the Kenpachi, she ran into Zaraki as a child and they fought. His power was so immense however that she was *supposed* to lose, but didn't. That fight was the first fight in Zaraki's life where he experienced the adrenaline and pleasure of fighting a life and death battle. He instantly became addicted to it and started subconsciously suppressing his own power, locking it away with mental blocks so that he could enjoy the fight longer. Eventually he made so many locks that he lost. From that point on he would subconsciously suppress his power to its limits so to equal his opponent's. And he only undoes one of those locks when he's on the brink of death. Throughout the series he undoes 4 locks. 1st against Ichigo, 2nd against Tousen, 3rd Nnoitra and 4th Yammi. That's why power level fluctuates so much in the series. That is her sin. Zaraki himself has no idea, that's why I was unsure if you were making a joke or not.

Yamamoto Genryusai was warned not to teach Zaraki his fighting style I think. Yamamoto only gave a basic lesson in holding a sword with two hands i.e. basic Kenpo swings lesson and look at the results. Those that warned Yamamoto were right. Just imagine Zaraki if he learned and developed a proper fighting style or tactics.

In terms of brute strength, Kenpachi is leagues ahead of everyone else. But, he would struggle against tricky opponents like Shunsui or Shinji. Both of them gave absolutely broken Bankai. And, even without the Hogyoku, I reckon Aizen can beat Kenpachi too.
