Is it possible to engineer an LS3 into a 2016 Auto GU in WA? I’m looking at a pretty hefty bill to do some performance upgrades to the ZD30 to get it up around 250 rwhp and wondering if it’s worth spending the extra for an LS conversion c/w 6l90?
@analactica3 жыл бұрын
You're running that LS3 on the stock 5-speed manual that comes with the TB48 , no ? I recently bought one and I have a 525-LS3 crate engine brand new , but I'm worried about the gearing on that transmission , also how much power can it hold ? I heard they're tough but are they 525 hp 486 lb tq tough ? Anyone who can answer me is welcome to do so , I'd really appreciate it
@ZaredFox2 жыл бұрын
yeah we have done plenty with the stock 5 speed the ratios are decent and seem to handle 350rwhp so maybe 450 crank but 5 gear does delete its self, they are strong but money shifts will kill them like anything if it was mine i would go for the 6 speed auto better ratios and handles 500hp no worries

@@ZaredFox wait a minute .... The 6 speed auto can handle more power than the manual ??!!! 😶😶😶 I didn't expect that , thanks for the heads up , I guess I gotta start looking for doner car to swap in an auto 🤔

Few things stood out, misconceptions about ZD's and blowing, many from leaving them stock with EGR on, Low boost and shitty intercooling along with piss-poor maintenance. The other one is how many dyno bunnies bolster or fudge power/torque figures due to tyre size. Yes, there are losses on chunky mud tyres that should not be on the road anyway but as seen here, 35" compared to a 32" stocker, pretty well the same. Simple maths kids, bigher rolling circumfrence, lower torque - higher speed, smaller tyre, higher torque - lower speed. Power = Torque X Revs (speed).
@ZaredFox3 жыл бұрын
they blow up for many reasons we converted 6 of them this year and as for the dyno results i would have expected more of a difference thats why i bothered to test it back to back
@bentheguru49863 жыл бұрын
@@ZaredFox Don't doubt you seeing six, you're in the game os swapping. Bigger boots will still do about same total power providing the tread is not to chunky and pressures are good. When big boots "Wrap" onto little dyno rollers, reading screwed.
