It's a good adaptation of Yojimbo. I wonder if Kurosawa sued Katsu or if Katsu paid a fee to use the story. Kurosawa sued Sergio Leone for "stealing" the Yojimbo plot in Fistful of Dollars and gained an undisclosed out-of-court settlement.

Always liked Zatoichi's respectful interchanges with certain dominent Samurai. Unfortunately he usually has to dispatch them at the end. This episode of coarse he doesn't ,alla 'Zatoichi vs Yojimbo'. Nice, a little lighter episode compared to the many darker ones previously. Enjoyed the The Mifune/Tamba ish Samurai.
