As an anxious person, I was immediately clocking the drink as an anchor/comfort object. It really make him so relatable. Most artists we see are media trained, great at interviews, etc. He is charismatic in his own quiet way.

Zayn was initially very bitter after leaving the group but not towards the Boys, it was more like he hated how he was told what to do, where to sleep, eat, sing, wear, down to his haircut, he was fed up. Then after leaving the fans turned against him and he got a lot of hate. After leaving the band he really started to process what he has been a part of …he spent a few years making sense of everything to get here. I was surprised how confident he sounded and just the self assured vibes!! You can hear everything I mentioned on tracks such as Truth and Rear view from Mind of Mine and Good Years off Icarus Falls

Yeah fans brought "terrorist" signs to concerts and management didn't protect him from that. Or from a hostile and racist British tabloid abd mainstream media. It's something one cannot control and unfortunately people will be racist and xenophobic...even people who say they are fans of the band you're a part of. The 1D fans would stream 1 direction music whenever Zayn released music to make sure zayn failed. Very vindictive. The fact Zayn was never allowed to publicly express his anger at sych mistreatment, his managed to manoeuvre all that and despite that stuff affecting his mental health working on things he can control, his perspective abd finding ways to protect his peace.

He’s gotten so much healthier and happier since he left the band. As a 9 year directioner, watching everything he went through was so sad but he’s doing so much better now! He talks so much and seems way more relaxed and unstressed. IM SO PROUD OF HIM 💛💛

He’s always been this way, people just didn’t notice and refused to acknowledge his existence, until he left one direction. He’s always had respect from his fans, even when he was in one direction. It was only solo fans in the one direction days and now, who weren’t respectful of the other members, who still are that way. It’s really sad that no one saw this about Zayn until now, because one direction fans always knew Zayn. Zquad never did, nor bothered to get to know him. So they’re all shocked now.

This is my favorite Zayn interview. He seems to be in such a great place now. It's great to see that he seems healthy and happy. I agree with your observations about how self assured he is. I think that's probably why being in the band got so hard for him. He was doing so many things that just were not really him, including the music they sang. It had to be hard not to be true to who he is when that's clearly a big part of his core personality.

He is the most genuine person(celebrity) I've ever seen... he is real... even how he doesn't promote his music and doesn't do things to satisfy people but he does it coz he loves it and it's his passion and what he wants to do.... That transcends into his music... you could never hear that when he was in 1D.... the Zayn we see now is a poet, musician, artist and daddy😊

As a teen and in my early 20s i had so much social anxiety and felt like i had to be someone else - more outgoing, more loud, more chatty etc. I did hypnotherapy which helped me a lot, but more in just accepting myself as i am. Instead of forcing myself to go out now and try and be all bubbly and fun, if i don't wanna go, i just don't. I enjoy my quiet nights in and i'm happy as i am. It's only other people who think you must be sad and boring if you're not always going out and socialising and having loads of friends. I know who i am now and i know what i like. I definitely relate to Zayn in that way

I have to say that this is the first interview after he left 1D, when I started to understand what he was going through and maybe I'll even start to like him. I'm not talking about his music, which is phenomenal, but about him as a person. Because I didn't like Zayn as a person. Now it looks like I just didn't know him well and didn't understand him. That was a wonderful interview and a wonderful analysis.

And a journalist on British media said good news stories of Zayn were being deliberately being blocked 🚫 his editor refused the good stories of zayn as the general public were meant to 'hate Zayn'. 😞 And their plans worked people hated Zayn alot used reasons, narratives generated by x-factor editing, tabloid media, arzoffs abd Harry pr team (gossip and rumours Harry hated Zayn).[

​@littledoc7944 it was on twitter. The journalist had a post. Back when check marks existed and Elon didn't own twitter. It was a while back and I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything. But some zayn fans have screenshots out there somewhere. Journalist mentioned that sometimes the media either hates or loved a star sometimes illogical but they roll with narratives that fit the hate or fit the love. And unfortunately the media hated Zayn (it had hints of racism xenophobia and islamaphobia).
