In the kissing scene, you see that the guy is alone at the same spot in the shot that follows. Then there's a cutaway to the woman in a train. This leads me to think that this and the other depicted personal encounters between the two were entirely imagined and they, in fact, did not actually meet after first catching each other's eyes.
