Thanks for the tutorial! if you want to mirror an instance/array mesh, use the "Append New" button and then you can create another placement or mirror of that original instance. So after Append New, I used the "X Mirror" button and I've got my bracelet on both sides.

Thanks so much, just what I was looking for. I was able to create 8 instances, but I can't seem to sculpt on the on the original at all. When I click on edit mesh, it turns off the instances, and makes the original large and distorted. Any advice?

before you make the subtool an array mesh, append a square plane and place it so that it frames the subtool and merge them together. because of the addition of the plane, the subtool's boundaries will be of equal height and width and there won't be any distortion when you edit the nanomesh, at which point you will be free to delete the framing polygroup.

Use the macro button called Create instance Subtool. Not sure if that was around at the time but the Macro menu is usually neglected.
