I have Mavic Pro when it 1st came out. That thing builds like a tank as all Dji drones, but never find it practical as just a hobbyist. So it mostly sits in the corner of my room, gathering dusts with occasional flying for family reunions or shoot photogrametry. Never like the setup process on any prosumer drones. This Hover X1 looks like a personal camera man, 10 minutes of flying is really long for what I would take for my social media. I like it, thinking heavily to get one. I bought one of these but ultimately returned it. The pros of it (beautifully presented by yourself) are great. It’s compact, its programming is solid and the video quality is ‘reasonable’. However, the cost compared to function isn’t warranted. It cannot handle more than a very light breeze, it’s terrifyingly noisy, the batteries drain fast and if 4K is your standard (it is for me) you will feel let down outside of ‘normal’ use, that is, selfie and close follows/dolly. If it was half the price and the resolution not quite so important to me I would have kept it based on the merits described, but if anyone is looking to make use of something like this I would personally suggest a DJI Micro 3 as a starter. Secondhand they are not far off the price for the Hover with extra batteries (a must) and you will get far more bang for your buck.

Yes, and you are right with everything. I mentioned all that in my past videos. It is for a specific group of people and one of them is me because I always felt highly uncomfortable flying and normal GPS drone.

I have the original DJI Mavic Air. That also had the facility to fly it with gesture mode..with out using the controller or phone. It could also be controlled by the phone alone, without the controller.. it was really useful and I’m surprised that DJI didn’t keep gesture and phone control with the later Mavic and Mini drones. This HoverAir looks more useful in some ways as it’s so compact and easy to use…its price seems a bit high however..Thanks for the video..much enjoyed!

Yes, you can set it to go up without the rotation or you can add the rotation. You cannot use this a drone in low light. It has to bewell lit conditions.

HoverAir can thank you for making a sale with me. Amazing little device. Price is still too high at this point even with an $80 coupon. $479 w/extra battery and charger. I thought it might be a one-off thing at first but with the update, it makes much more sense and usability. Price has become more justified with new functions. Was going with Mini 3 Pro but so many drone issues and seriously possible outright ban, this is a viable best choice. Thank you for a really enjoyable review and excellent tutorial. You're the best. Great review. Thanks a lot! I have one question: can you make a sequence with the phone so you dont have to use gestures to change the mode the Drone is flying in? Like for example it flies 3minutes "Birds Eye" and switches after 1 minute to "Zoom in and Out" and afterwards goes back for 2 minutes to "Birds Eye" without me having to "tell" this to the drone by gestures, kind of pre-describe the modes and its lenghts in the App before? This would help me a lot because when you play music for example you cannot make gestures at the same time or I would have have a person to control the Modes for me. Cool little drone you have. I love drones too yet after finding out I needed a part 107 lic from the US gov in order to accept payment/gratuity I had to switch to other media devices myself. For close up shots that mimic the drone I invested in a Insta360 x3. Not as many Karens come out with a 9 ft selfie pole as I get with the drones. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Very good job! One thing that should be mentioned though, is you cannot use the Advanced features, until you have completed all the other types of flights/modes. :) It remains locked until it registers that you've done at least 1 of each other mode.

I think you can have it fly around the car. I would be cautious though as it is not recommended to fly it over uneven surfaces such as table and the ground. I tried it and it fell….

Hi Bo, I don't have one of these yet but I've watched several reviews. Not sure if it would orbit a moving car but as far as speed goes the maximum claimed top speed is 7m/s or 25km/h which is about 15-16 mph. PS. Morgans are one of my favourite cars. I wrote to the factory as a 13-year old almost 50 years ago to find out their prices.😊

I don’t think it should be an issue…. It is best to try it first though locally before you actually take it somewhere on the trip. Only you will know if that works for you or not… I would be ok with that setup

It will kind of hover in the air until you get reconnected to the phone and then you can land it
