I still take the virus seriously, but I am done being afraid of it.
@karenkaren3189

Again, you don’t have to be afraid, just alert and cautious. I needed a new laptop, so I went to my local Apple Store in a large suburban mall. Yes, I could have ordered it online but I needed an outing for my mental health. I also live in a state that was well managed by our ( Republican) Governor since the early days of the pandemic. Our state closed down early, then reopened slowly and carefully over the summer. We also have had a mask mandate since late April. Everyone just wears their masks, and practices social distancing. No big drama. The Apple Store of course had everything totally together. Scheduled appointments only, temperature checks, good ventilation, frequent cleaning etc. I knew which laptop I wanted, so I was in and out in less than twenty minutes. ( now I have to set the dang thing up though😉). My point is that until we reach herd immunity by a combination of natural infection and vaccination, this is just how things are going to be. No need to cower in your home, but also it’s silly to congregate unmasked, in crowds or enclosed spaces. I do think that schools should be as open as possible. My state has hybrid learning, for instance. ❤️🙏🇺🇸🙏❤️

My approach to the virus has always been similar to road safety: I take it seriously to minimize my odds of getting hurt, but that doesn't mean I'm terrified. Personally, I get a bit angry when people who are against masks (and other reasonable mitigation measures) suggest that taking the virus seriously equates to being filled with fear. Wearing a mask and staying at least 6 feet from others (when possible) is no more about fear than wearing a seatbelt and not going 30+ over the speed limit is about fear.

I think part of my fatigue comes from being in the middle. I am not convinced masks work (I wear mine of course, on the chance they do), and I know COVID is real and really kills people and not just old and weak people. But at the same time I see so many people in fear bubbles where they are getting downright violent in their distrust of other people. I get both sides, but being in the middle where one side thinks I"m reckless because I don't sanitize my groceries and don't wear a mask when I'm alone in a park on a hike, and the other side thinks I'm a 'cuck' or whatever because I tell them that it is real and worse than the flu...that's the source of my exhaustion and isolation. I feel like the only person in the middle sometimes and get hate from both sides. It'd be so easy to fall to one side or the other where I'd have allies and friends....

Tabby, I am totally with you. I too am not convinced on the masks, but I wear it - not when I am outside unless I can’t properly distance. This whole thing has been exhausting and the amount of people yelling and screaming across both sides is disheartening and frustrating. It’s hard to be somewhere in the middle. I’m with you though!

Masks work. Just ask doctors snd nurses who come back 7 months day after day to loved ones. Those who take this seriosly have every right. This is a new cold war and designed malady for which no medicine has done anything. Dexametasone reduced mortality 2 percent. Thats best we got. So in my mind there is no middle. Either your drinkin kool aide or doing your best not to. If someone feels better to clear shoes and not open mail for 2 days they are entitled to it. Who is not entitled is profit obsessed conman and mentally ill individual treating us as disposables. And to be in the middle... i saw no middle in racism. In nationalism. In chauvinism. And no middle road in crooked elections or capitalism gifted to China by elites. If you find yourself in the middle it means it did not touch you yet. But once it does remember what we discussed here.

I don’t go on my hikes anymore because I’m discouraged by the mask wearing. I don’t mind people not wearing masks that are 20 feet away from me and I see people calling people out for not wearing one. It’s childish I feel that if you have space to avoid close contact you’re fine. If you get in someone’s face about it it depletes the purpose

Practice yoga every morning, talk with friends online, by phone and text. I just retired so my plans were disrupted because I was going to do volunteer work and travel. However I read a lot, try to practice gratitude for what I do have and what I can do. At some point this will be under control. In the meantime I am thankful.

I guess, as an ordinary person, I’m happy to see that those less than textbook mask wearers are (presumably) at least trying. Though certainly some more PSA type things could be out there to demonstrate/show/explain what best practices look like. When I see a poorly fitted mask on someone, I do my best to bite my tongue and not say anything (because who knows just how willingly that person is attempting to wear their mask)... be more aware of my personal space, and move on. If I’m really feeling concerned, I remind myself that my husband does surgery in barns. (Not sure that it’s fully relevant re:covid, but it’s reassuring nonetheless 😉) Meanwhile, just had my nose cleaned 😉 for the third or 4th week in a row at the senior living complex where I work

the cult of psychopaths behind this are trying to dehumanise ALL of us--they have an agenda, and it is clearly Nazi influenced. 'Social Distancing' was a term used by the third Reich during the Nazi Holocaust, and if your puzzled by that, it's because the Bush line have and are Nazis of a sort and Nixon and others included. David Icke calls the present day face of the US 'Gov', Rothschild Zionists, and he knows more about them then anyone on the outside. Bill Gates has become the frontman in the US, and he is clearly a psychopath wanting to vaccinate all of us.

the cult behind this Teresa, has people so confused they don't know where to begin, and it's what they hoped of course. you probably haven't heard of David Icke, but he was banned from his You Tube channel back in March for supposedly spreading mis-information about 'covid. first off, why do people think they need masks now, when in 2017 alone 500,000 people died from bird flu world wide and hardly anyone noticed it--there is a strain of something almost every year now. it's simply because they got sucked in by the lies from the mainstream media eight months ago, which was the case with 911 and the rest of the scams the psychotic mega-rich cult behind them have pulled off. the masks are to dehumanise us further; they have an agenda, and they think people are stupid to the point they even published a book called Agenda 21.

This is true. I know a very prominent person in Virginia who was a coach and owner of chain of restaurants. He was by all appearances a very successful and "together" person. After months of not having the social outlet and meaningful fulfillment of coaching he drifted into a deep despair and committed suicide. This was a horrible tragedy for the city and all those that loved him.

sure, what else Josh, can it be other than a bunch of technocrat psychopaths that are behind this? David Icke has been telling people for 30 years that they have no empathy for people what-so-ever, and have an agenda for us. how do most people not see that all of a sudden eight months ago, they used the mainstream media as usual to simply tell us we will ALL die if we are not wearing masks, and we need to isolate. this has never happened before, and there is a strain of something almost every year now. were was the lock downs, masks, and hypochondria in 2017 alone, that killed 500,000 people world wide? no one hardly mentioned it.

For myself, many months ago, I learned to limit how much time I was spending online. I read one daily newspaper and listen to the radio a lot ( yes I am a dinosaur) but turn it to a music station when I feel Covid overload, or any overload for that matter. As an old, recently retired nurse I am focused on staying healthy and safe. I walk outside every day for 4-5 miles. I do go into grocery stores, etc. I have gotten take out, but because of my age and other factors I don’t eat inside restaurants. I don’t drink, so bars don’t tempt me. I stay in touch with friends and family via telephone, text, email and an occasion in person visit ( outside). I do have friends who are even more careful than me so I have visited with them inside their homes, but still socially distanced, with masks and weather permitting, the windows open. My dear parents are in their early nineties, with decent quality of life. I have the genes to live another 20 or 30 years, with luck. You can bet I am doing everything within reason to stay alive! Wisconsin is having a terrible time with covid right now because idiots are having large gatherings, filling the bars, casinos, and restaurants while our hospitals are almost at capacity. I personally know of several covid deniers who contracted it after engaging in unsafe behavior. Any time our governor tries to do something the legislature (backed by the Tavern League) takes him to court instead of coming up with a plan to contain things. My daughter is doing digital school because I'm extremely high risk for any respiratory illness as it is. I barely survived the H1N1 pandemic. The school ended up closing anyway because so many adults got sick from kids that they were down to skeleton crews and many teachers and staff are in high risk groups.

ok, I see what you've said; so, tell me then why there wasn't all this hypochondria and mass debating during the 2017 bird flu alone, that killed 500,000 world wide; that wasn't a pandemic? there has been a strain of something almost every year nowadays. just last year: 100,000 dead from TB. the people that die from theses strains have been just people with pre-existing immune system problems; young and old, and has been the case with any strain since after WWI. no one was behaving with this mass fear until one day eight months ago, the mainstream media decided to tell everyone they will die if there not wearing masks; you don't find that alone kind of odd? I have no question this strain of whatever was made in a China lab then set loose. ALL of society was never jailed because a small minority have been receptible to a strain--for people with healthy immune systems, it's no worse than a common cold. I have gotten sick occasionally just because some ignorant fool didn't cover his month when he sneezed. how do you people not see that someone has an agenda for all of us; Bill Gates wants to vaccinate everyone; he's psychotic.

Thank you!!! Love hearing from someone who is being rational about the virus. As a retired nurse I learned a long time ago to do my own research for any medical issues so I have been seeking out any reliable studies I could find and avoid listening to the main stream media or anyone that uses fear to promote their agenda. As for myself I started trying to live a healthier lifestyle and taking all the precautions but have also chosen to continued to have a normal family life with my grown children and my grandchildren. At first I tried to avoid physical contact with my family but the emotional pain proved to be too great so I made the decision to continue my normal life with them after a couple of months. By that time more was known about the virus and I was practicing a healthier lifestyle. I am grateful that our school system has chosen to provide in school classes with multiple precautions so my grandchildren are attending school and they aren't suffering from lack of education or social interaction with their peers. Of it's not the normal school experience due to all of the precautions but they are happier than when they were doing school by video conference. When they started school again I had to make the decision to continue to babysitting their younger sister since I also realized there is still a chance that they could bring the virus home to me even though the school is taking so many precautions but I chose what was right for me. Just like their parents had to choose between in school or online as both were offered. It's all about knowledge and choices as with all viruses it's here to stay and we must learn to live with it. Again thank you.

11:22 "I just don't care" is different from "I am depressed, fed up with restrictions, and sad, but I will still do the right thing (wear masks and social distance) to protect others and society." Did our grandfathers and grandmothers say, "I just don't care." when Hitler invaded Europe? Did their own fathers and mothers say. "I just don't care" when World War 1 and Spanish Flu came out? We are not being asked to do 4-5 years of waging war - but we are being asked to follow science, to wear masks and to limit our social contacts for the next 12-18 months to the point we get herd immunity through a vaccine. The fact of the matter is there is a proper way to open the economy and carry out some semblance of social bonding while still following social distancing and masking. It is not a zero sum game, not an all or nothing approach. It is a finite time - not for eternity.

you are not responsible for other peoples health just your own---the cult behind this has been stripping down people's self--esteem and screwing with their eyes hard for decades. what we call not looking after your own needs in the drug and alcohol recovery community is co-dependency, in which an epidemic has grown through them using 'political correctness': my opinion doesn't matter, and shrug their shoulders. David Icke who knows more about what and who is behind this, was banned from his You Tube channel back in March for supposedly spreading mis-information about 'covid'. they('the Bill Gates cult') wouldn't of done that if they weren't afraid of him exposing their agenda for us ALL. he predicted 911 because he knew their plans and started seeing their patterns. there were a few people back in he 1960s that knew this would be happening right now;Jim Morrison of The Doors was one of them. the masks are to further dehumanise us into their agenda, and if you don't believe it, they think people are so stupid they even published a book called Agenda 21, that's all about what they ae trying to do with us. Prescott Bush was in charge of Union Bank during WWII, and he was funding a well known Hitler funder in Europe who had big money in banks and steel. Hitler was a washed up artist who had no money, but the elite at the time heard he could talk people so they took him and created the lie of the times that he saved the economy. Icke calls the present day face of the US 'Gov.' 'Rothschild Zionists,' in which anyone, like Trump,Bolton; etc., who continues to side with Rothschild Inc. continuing to own most of the Israeli land that was taken during WWi. Kennedy was the only one that made an effort to stop them. it was Rothschild Inc. and George Sorus(BLM) that had 'bailed' Trump out. Trump is just the latest paid actor of them

And when you have Covid and you decide you don't wear a mask, you pass on the virus and infect the vulnerable? What a selfish piece of s***t

I don’t drink or do drugs. I’ve had some blood tests for something else they told me everything is normal. I don’t mind having this time to catch up on projects and studying but this can’t be good for me long term I know my wife is tired of me leaving the books around and fixing things. I work full time I’m surprised I haven’t crashed at work I just stay steady all the time. I don't get why you people can't see that no one ever debated this stuff over any strain there has been. where was all this hypochondria during the 2017 bird flu alone, that killed 500,000 people world wide? hardly anyone noticed it and life went on. even the White House Dr had affirmed back in the spring that about 80% of the cases tested were mild symptoms(negative) as was about the same for S Korea then. eight months later, the average citizen is still trying to play super neurosurgeon everywhere. this strain of whatever has only killed a certain number of people, and that's because it only kills those with pre--existing immune system problems, which has been the case with any strain there's been since WWI. life was the usual until one day eight months ago, the mainstream media decided to tell people everywhere they will all die if they're not wearing masks--I have no question that was part one of this hoax that began in a China lab then was set loose. this thing has never even been isolated and tested.

Teams of visiting nurses would come around and circulate around all the hotel rooms and check vital signs once or twice a day.

Are the corona cases counted whether the person dies of corona or not? I seem to be one of those Alt Middle types. I also am in Rhode Island, which is one of the few states that has not seen an increase in COVID-19. There is not a law in effect that residents have to wear masks when they are outside, but most public places require that you have one on. Almost everyone practices social distancing, which can be challenging while I am out for a run and encounter another person on the sidewalk - is there enough room for both of us to keep close to six feet away, and if not, is there room on the road beside the sidewalk without getting in the way of cars & trucks? But a lot of us seem to be on the alert or concerned about infecting someone else who then takes it home and gives it to their grandparent or something. I have to admit I am tired of the whole thing, but it does not look like it is going away overnight. I live in subsidized housing as well, and they just came around to turn on the heat for colder weather - I bet this is another reason why people are getting sick more. They are inside with stuff flying around when the heaters come on, and become more susceptible to the virus as indoor particles kick up allergies and other health problems.

I live in San Francisco, where we've had pretty strict restrictions, and they have worked. The media acts like it's SO TERRIBLE and SO RESTRICTIVE, but it actually pretty nice here. People are still living their lives and having fun, lots of the bars and restaurants have outside dining, the kids are doing sports in pods, I defy anyone to actually walk down the streets in San Francisco in my neighborhood and tell us we're missing out on "life" right now because we're wearing masks and trying to stay 6 feet apart.

Completely agree with your insights. When logic and healthy discord are abandoned, it always leads to disaster.

apparently, most people don't even have the common sense anymore to see that the mainstream media was obviously use eight months ago to spread fear and lies.

Well you say we shouldn’t shame others for not taking it as serious as some of us that put lives above all else, but by not wearing masks they are not just putting themselves at risk. If someone doesn’t want to wear a helmet when they ride a motorcycle that’s fine. Only their life is being put at risk. I’m sorry but I just think it’s a matter of respect and compassion to look out for each other and not put others at risk by not masking.

It is funny how I support Democrats, but am accused of being a Trump supporter, just because I believe in no lockdown, but targeted (focus) restrictions and opening up of schools. This is based on available scientific data, along with social/mental costs of the society as a whole. And what about the widening gap? Something is wrong with this country.

Doing the opposite of what the other political party wants is terrible policy for everyone and this seems to be the priority for both parties, as opposed to finding common ground. Less absolutism, more pragmatism

I watched a PBS documentary about the psychology of hate recently. This researcher said that humans can be so hyper--loyal to their tribe that any disagreement with their commonly held opinions is considered to be as traumatic as being forced to watch a sexual assault. This is an extreme example of people leaving logic behind and focusing on blind, hot hate for the other side.

I thank God I stopped watching mainstream media news back in the 90s. Everybody is trying to sway your beliefs. There are few places where you can get factual, unbiased information. That’s why I like your channel.

I have read suggestions online that the best way to celebrate Halloween is to buy candy on www.amazon.com and send one or two ounce bags through the mail to the children of all your best friends. That sounds like a good stopgap measure. Please trick or treat online this year.

I understand masks are easy but when does it stop and, while logically it makes sense, does it really make a difference? Two examples, since we implemented masks here in Maine in July there have been no changes in case rates or death rates. Second, we are seeing a national rise “cases” but the majority of states have mask mandates.

It’s not enforced where I live. Most don’t follow the mandate. More people have once VDH said they’ll shut down businesses that don’t comply.
