As added context for his time on Werder Bremen: Werder is a team that has always been known for prefering team synergy over individual star power. Especially now after we got relegated and got back up to the Bundesliga, the team has become more than the sum of its parts over time. We barely had any big roster changes since 2022/23 season (except the big loss of Füllkrug ofc) and it shows, the team is playing better than statistics would allow. Naby Keita never meshed with the team, hes a bit of a diva and as Zealand said probably expected to be a "star player" when Werder doesnt really give a shit about this kind of stuff. Heck, Marvin Ducksch, our "star striker" constantly underperforms, barely scores goals, has catastrophic ball losses every once in a while but he is still 100% set for the starting eleven because he is still an integral part of the "team synergy", so that should show you how much more this matters than individual skill. What Zealand alluded to with Keitas boycott was the away game to Leverkusen in 2023/24. Keita refused to get on the team bus because, according to him, it was a worthless match to play anyway. And it kind of was, we lost 0:5 and it gave Leverkusen the early Meisterschaft by points. This had never happend before in the history of the team, so naturally management just straight up removed him from the roster and said we will sell you as soon as possible.

Funny you specifically mentioned Millie in reference to pros being a different animal... I got to see Liverpool and Roma in St. Louis, Mo in 2016 and out of everyone on the pitch (including Mo Salah and Coutinho), James is the one seared in my memory. Added context: Ferencváros is the favored team of the Hungarian government. Their budget is 4 times of the other government favored teams (Puskás Akadémia, Újpest) and 8-10 times of the rest. Their main income is basically the tax payer's money given in various forms e.g. sponsoration (main sponsor is the national electricity provider, MVM). They are also known for doing some money laundering with transfers - it's basically an open secret that they try to sign as many players as possible, because the management of the club is running some shady dark business with the agents, essentially stealing money. For this reason they do 10-15 transfers every single year and the squad is so large that they can't even register all their players for the competitions, so many new signings end up rotting on the bench for years without a single match played.

Keita was and always will be Klopp's ONLY flop and biggest mistake when it came to transfers. He got hooked before HT vs Real Madrid and barely featured again in the 2021 COVID season, yet Klopp decided to keep faith in him and not sign another CM to replace the departing Gini Wijnaldum. Keita's lack of availability DIRECTLY tied into Fabinho and Henderson being ran into the ground, they would play almost every game from 2019-2022. If Klopp and the board decide to cut losses and sign a new CM sooner, Klopp probably leaves with 1 more PL title.
