Also the manager, Duncan Ferguson, is apparently working for free, with him giving all of his wages back to the club to help with the debts. Which in the grand scheme of things may not mean all that much, but Big Dunc is a legend already, and that just gets better with this situation.

A former colleague of mine was sent to interview 'Big Dunc,' but before the interview he was told by one of his people to mention his boots, as they were giving him money. Big Dunc internalised this as 'only talk about your boots' and answered every question by talking about his boots like a deranged company representative. After thinking about it, the journalist wrote up the interview word for word and, if you can find it, it makes a very funny read. The magazine was called Goal, by the way.

One problem that I see, having taken over running a small, in debt, organization, is that you don't budget for 2nd place, you budget for last place. My organization ran a surplus all 10 years I ran that organization and had money for several big projects. In addition, the school I worked for budgeted for a middle level of student retention for the second semester. When the retention came in at a low level, the school had to cut operating funds from the individual departments. It is way better to budget for the worst case scenario and if you do better have some extra money than to end up needing more money at the end of the budget.

Thats 2 clubs in 2 seasons on the brink in Scottish league 1, last year Edinburgh city were on the brink of disappearing, from only being able to use Amateure players and also being very close to not getting a license to play it was tough as a fan of them. That’s another point about Inverness however that could put them in jeopardy, if they do go into administration they won’t be able to access financial accounts and so when the time for licence renewal comes around they won’t be able to provide club accounts to gain at least a bronze licence which means they’ll be expelled from the Scottish leagues

Apparently they owe 5 million. Celtic park has a capacity of 60k. Let's say they sell out the whole stadium at 20 pounds per ticket. They've still made only 1/5 of what they need. And that's assuming 60k people will pay that price to see Celtic legends play against a club that many probably don't care about. Keeping in mind their last legends game against Borussia Dortmund legends only had 30k people, and that one was for a cancer charity not to save a random club.

Could the "company that owns the club but not the club itself" not just liquidate and then ICT can start next season one division lower but with no debt? The SFA have already set a precedent that liquidated clubs can start in league 2 with Rangers and ICT could still claim to be the same club. In all seriousness though, ICT could state that since Rangers got into league 2 after liquidation that they should also get in instead of having to start in the highland leagues otherwise it would show preferential treatment to Rangers. How would the SFA deny that without admitting to 'preferential treatment' for Rangers? Surely you can't have teams start in different leagues after the same financial process of liquidation?

Someone buying a club in debt and then changing the company format is different than being liquidated, you understand that right? I've no horse inthe race but frankly The SFA were way too lenient on Rangers when you compare it to the Gretna situation. @@umepojke6579 no changing the plc is irrelevant however you do it. Celtic were going into administration not even liquidation as in the club would no longer exists. The new plc bought the club before this the only difference being that but bricks and mortar are what make the club not a plc. The two events meant both our clubs would have failed to exist but easier in a time of cheap credit to get a consortium together than after an international banking crisis. Both clubs require each other and Celtic spent a decade losing in Europe relegating us to a third nation level. Be thankful now you get the respite of huge cash injections for failing in Europe simply because your opponents keep managing European football after Christmas and paying for raising the coefficient.
