Glad Zeb Wells TASM run is over, worst comic book run I've ever read. I just wish Nick Lowe went with him.

I think bow and arrow characters can be dope with the right story. Visually "YOUNGBLOOD's" Shaft with his exoskeloton on is DOPE AS HECK. Besides Shaft none of the characters have powers or enhancements with the outfit that make them as exiting to look at, and I think they could face threats built more for them, and stories to go with them....

With Nick Lowe as editor, sadly the nightmare never ends.

On Aaron opinion on Tombestone - In my opinion Marvel and D.C. have placed so much emphasis on space that so many great earth based characters are thought of as bad characters, and I think it is one of the biggest mistakes.... I have said before I think this "Street Wars" event should have been the 4th or 5th one, and one of them should have been before Spider-Man even existed. But space stories were all the rage back then and still take up a large percentage of stories - and that isn't bad, but i prefer a balance.

Thanks, Dok, for shining a light on Moore's Supreme. It's honestly the best Superman story featuring a character who isn’t Superman. There’s so much love for Sup's mythology in that run. I’m with Aaron; I prefer Moore when he’s writing optimistic stories instead of deconstruction.

@@mayotango1317Yeah, that was a really great run as well.But it was more of a tribute to pulp heroes, even though it included some superhero tropes, like multiverse stories, and so on.

The worst period for Spiderman was the late 1970s and very early 1980s when he is fighting the likes of Iguana, Rocket Racer, Big Wheel, Hypno-Hustler, Will o' Wisps, Lightmaster. The mid-1980s is pretty good with Black Cat, Jackal, Jack O' Lantern, Puma, and the Hobgoblin.
@RamManNo1Күн бұрын
Jackal wasn’t around in the 80s. He was killed in about 1975ish. But yeah, almost every Marvel book was, for lack of better words, “cheesier” in the late 70s. They hit their stride around 79-80 I’d say.

The 80's Spider-man runs were the best in my opinion. Roger Stern is my all time favorite Spidey run with David Micheline in second place. Peter Parker Spider-man writen by Bill Mantlo is good too.

Imagine having absolutely no attention on your Spider-man book, and not being willing to do anything interesting. Ultimate Spider-man is giving fans what they want, why wouldn’t you take the chance to do something wild in the main book? Instead Amazing Spider-man, the flagship of MARVEL, is an after though behind the Ultimate book. Gotta be the most shameful run to date.

Insane to act like new sci-fi books are bad and that it’s bad Justina Ireland came from that. Novels currently are way better than comics and her books are actually good and do sell well.

That period of Roger Stern to Tom De Falco with Peter David on Spectacular was the best time for Spidey fans, particularly the Gang War stuff. Micheline wrote Maximum Carnage and that awful story where Peter’s parents come back and turn out to be androids…..so Micheline can suck it.

well I've come to the realization that there is no use arguing with the "MJ + PP 4EVA" fans. If that's where you are, of course. I think there's two camps: those who care and those who don't. MJ was a year younger than Peter but then she spent four years with Paul Rabin on the Pocket Universe Earth. So she's three years older than Peter now. And after a taste of Motherhood with those imaginary magic kids, I mean she might have different life goals now than just the constant stress of being a superhero's wife (and that's bypassed by making MJ her own superhero too). I don't think MJ needs Peter anymore. She's outgrown him. That's what happens in marriages and relationships. I think there's some interesting stories to plumb but I'm over the waxing & waning of the Great MJ & Pete Dance. People break up. You know they move on. And if they're lucky, remain friends. Perhaps we have to give Peter permission to let go of MJ. Namaste.

Aaron and Drew and co. promoting their Indie books is all fine and good, but you have to keep in mind that all that talk and promotion is irrelevant to us overseas listners who will never buy these books due to the insane overseas shipping costs. Release 'Doomface' digitaly however and the constant promotion becomes relevant to everybody and not just Americans.

shipping to Canada is astronomical as well. We should all hope and perhaps ask our governments why is International Shipping Costs so high while they're encouraging Globalization. What gives? Good luck!

I can't be the only non-American who watches this every week cringing at all of the American sports talk. I can't even put into words how much us overseas listeners don't give a flying f about American sports (which are all rigged anyway) or WWE/UFC (also rigged). Is there any way you boys could discuss all of that stuff off-stream and keep 'Comics Afficionados' focused on comic talk please?

and another person could ask us to talk less about Food but we fall into that rabbit hole quite often. I'm of the feeling it's a room full of friends shooting the breeze and sometimes as good conversations go, they can make their own roads (of which Wes is good at saying , "Guys! Guys! Let's get back..." Yet it's just where the convo went at that moment. I don't understand AEW. Also Uel's baseball team won The Championship this year. But I hear you. I don't know much about English Premiere League Futbol ⚽but I like seeing it at my local Irish pub on Saturdays (after the Comics Aficionados). Thank you, Michael for caring enough to make this comment. Cheers.
