Ballsofdoom, on the comments really helped me in deciding to get one of these for Christmas. Your instructional videos have helped me service my smaller Zebco's. Now I feel confident when I get my new reel. Thank you!

Sir is there any 808's or 888's that are better than the others? I'm wanting to get one for catfish and want the toughest version of those I can get
@OutFishing13Matthew2 жыл бұрын
They are all built very well. The 888 tends to be the better model. I like this model quite a bit. You can still buy them on ebay

Hello, is the older omega 181 about the same as a 33. Wondering if they are any good. I love Zebco reels and prefer the older ones. Always used a good old 808 back in the day for pike fishing. Love your videos.
@OutFishing13Matthew4 жыл бұрын
I have never had an Omego 181 or seen one except in the catalog. They were a higher end reel. The trouble you may run into is the line rubber line brakes can get old and fall apart.

@@OutFishing13Matthew thanks for your response. I actually have two that are in excellent shape. They were a little stiff so I cleaned them up, a little grease and some oil. Very smooth. Can you still get parts for these older reels ?.

I just bought a new 888. Says 3 bearings on it. Took it apart. Found 2 bearings. Unless there is a bearing inside behind the spool? Found one for the pinion gear and right handle side only. LEft handle side has a black plastic bushing. Where is the third bearing?
@OutFishing13Matthew4 жыл бұрын
It could be under the spinner cone. Or they may be counting the anti-reverse pawl as a bearing, if that is one that is on the center pinion shaft.
@rickjames69484 жыл бұрын
@@OutFishing13Matthew The AR is kind of like a bearing. It turns one way only. Seems pretty smooth.

I need a release button for that very reel! Do you know where I could possibly get one?
@OutFishing13Matthew3 жыл бұрын
Zebco has the back assemble, not just the button. You can get it here. www.tackleservice.com/Consumer/Product_detail_m.aspx?ProductID=2608. For just the button you can get this one and remove it. www.tackleservice.com/Consumer/Product_detail_m.aspx?ProductID=2990

Where do I get the 17x9x5mm bearings
@OutFishing13Matthew3 жыл бұрын
Phil, Thanks for asking. Generally it is listed as a 9x17x5mm bearing, starting with the inner diameter first. The generic part number is a S689ZZ. They can be found on ebay or amazon or some bearing distributor. I think I have some in my stash of parts. TackleService.com (Zebco) lists them as a WZ030-01, but they are on "back-order" which means they may never have them. Contact me at outfishingthirteen@gmail.com

Made in China crap. I have the original Prostaff 888. Made in America, and it's still a beast after 30 years.
@OutFishing13Matthew4 жыл бұрын
These are still pretty nice reels. Not as tough as the USA made ones, but that's all I can get. I would like to get one of those USA made one so I will keep looking on Ebay. Do you shop ebay for them. If so, do you see them from time to time?

Not true. The USA made is not nearly as beefy as this Chinese model. I’m sitting here looking at the inside of my USA model 888 Pro Staff, and it’s pretty disappointing inside, and completely different. The US version has only 1 bearing, the reel foot is riveted to the outside of the plastic case with 1 on river on each side, the crank shaft only goes in one side into the center shaft not all the way through. So it’s only supported by on side of the plastic case instead of both sides. The newer reels may be made in China but the design is American and WAY more heavy duty than the older ones like mine and yours.
