Oliver Pearce Look. He took the time to help his friend instead of just getting ready to withstand another assault. (As fruitless as that would be.) That is the main point of contention for me. To be honest, although he was unconscious, and didn't have a choice to do that, I for one believe he would have done that anyway. (The point is that this moment is the best.)

well everyone should have a potion or two on them, noone should have to be the "healer", plenty of classes gain access to some kind of heal. I really just use my heals for action economy (bringing fallen players back up with healing word as a bonus action)

@@chrism7067, that's pretty alright, but the moment they stand up they will probably get knocked back down. It might be more worth your spell slots to use your full action to get some better healing onto someone before they eat dust. The best class for burst healing is the paladin because he's able to expend his entire pool of healing in one action.

If you were wondering why Healing Word would have saved them here is why. You see Healing Word is able to abuse the Action Economy because it's a bonus action so you can do a normal turn like move and attack, it's got a range of 60 ft so you can cast it from a safe distance, and it abuses 5e's dying state because in 5e there is no negative health so if a character gains any health they are able to resume action like normal even if it's something like I don't know a d4+spellcasting modifier. So yeah they could have simply cast this lvl 1 spell for pretty much free, revived William and escaped.

The new "smoother" animation looks really great at 0:18 and 1:32 (maybe a little to fast to appreciate), but It seems a little awkward when used on the "speaker wizard." I think less frames, keeping mainly the key frames, is better for him, like how you had him originally. Make him stay still a bit with quick snaps of movement rather than slowly moving all the time.

@KazumiKiguma 5 жыл бұрын
@@EnsignEpic Why do people keep saying "he forgot he had the spell"? He clearly says he forgot he had enough SPELL SLOTS to cast it. Spell Slots are basically MP/Mana/etc., a resource that limits the amount of spell casts you can do with different spells requiring a different amount and only restored (naturally) by a long rest. In other words, he thought he couldn't use it because of other stuff he'd done prior to going down using up spell slots, it's a matter of miscalculation. I'd guess one of the players went "Wait why didn't you just Healing Word on William?" and he said "I didn't have the spell slots left" and they went over all he'd done and realized he actually did.

Ugh that would suck to be sweet William now that I think about it. Like you risk your life saving your HEALER and he forgets to check for healing spells and instead of helping the guy who saved his life he just runs to save his own, I’d be annoyed on that kill. Luckily it seems like in zees games death happens a lot whereas if it was heavy story and you were attached to your character this would have been a lame way to go, wade did honor him at the end though which made the death a little better at least. Edit: Not to mention he gave the amulet to the creepy priest, but like Wade said I’m not mad, I’m just extremely pissed off and disappointed.

Second time we all had dragon partners and i was told to focus on channeling Earthquake ti destroy a beholders shrine. Our sorcerers dragon partner ended up dying and she wouldnt leave me alone about it and acted as if i was the worst healer ever and had never done a good job at it, even though my character had been healing and rezzing the entire party fir two years at that point. Lesson being that combat people can fuck up all they want and get away with it, but if you're a healer no one will ever let you live down any mistakes. It sucks. The morals of the story, identify magical items and check your spell slots... Oh, and things happen in the heat of battle. No one's prefect.

I don't think they could identify them. He said there were more Dragonborn in the party in the previous Campaign Diary so one of them might have been able to, but Davae is likely a bard since all of his spells use the drum as a focus. Plus they had JUST gotten the cigars before going down there. I'm guessing they took a long rest up in the village and Davae forgot about his spell slots being restored.

@@KazumiKiguma True enough, perhaps a more generalized moral of the story would be to always take identify if you're a caster...

Reminds me of the time our party Wizard, in an attempt to rescue me (the Bard) from a burning building (that I had set on fire), realized her strength wasn't high enough. Our Paladin (and primary healer (other than myself)) was nowhere near by. In an effort to make sure I wasn't shot by anymore crossbows to put me down for good, she decides to turn me invisible along with herself and runs out the building. Cue our Assimar fighter jumping in through the window, wings at the ready and... I'm nowhere to be found. That was the day I burned to death. Guess who forgot they had Healing Word in their repertoire?

I like to think William took over playing as the goblin and made it all the way to level 20 taking down ancient dragons by chucking spears and being snuck through towns at night in bundles of cloth.

normally players never make it past level 4 understand you have to be killing CR12 monsters just to get at little over 400exp at level 19 per kill (a baby purple worm is CR12) a gob is 1/2 of a CR not even a full CR you stop getting exp at 7th level from them

Reavermyst I don't think Healing Word would have saved Sweet William. In fact, it would have doomed both William *and* Wades. The only reason Wades survived was because William unintentionally took all the hits for him. If William was back up thanks to Healing Word, he and Wades would be running as two separate targets. Healing Word wouldn't heal for much, Wades had 3 HP left, while the goblins- as seen from what did happen- dished out a lot of damage. So instead of just William getting all the damage, it would have been spread out to Wades as well and take him down too.

I would love to hear more from this campaign diary, maybe even another long-form episode like the first one; you've done such a good job of describing the characters and situations in which they find themselves that I now feel very invested in the story and can't wait to hear whether they will find a new adventuring companion and bring that crafty Kenku Wick to justice.

My DM is going to use the cigar idea for a different thing we are working on . The ones we are going to have belong to the dragon born culture and let you spend 5 mins smoking to regain your breath weapon or gain a different breath weapon ontop of yours - warning breath sticks incorporated is not liable for any damage caused though use of our products . Using more then 1 a day may cause d4 damage . If your breath weapon lasts more then 4 hours please see a doctor .
