Zeekr 001 First Driving Impressions - A worthy Tesla Model Y Competitor?

A new Electric Car brand is coming to Europe from Geely, the Zeekr 001. Geely who also powers Volvo, Polestar, Link & co and Lotus is bringing its Zeekr brand to the Netherlands and Sweden to begin with, then we hope to see it in the UK by the end of 2024. In the form of a luxury shooting brake silhouette, it offers plenty of luxury, comfort, tech, and speed. To top it off, it also offers a good range on the WLTP in combination with a 200kW fast charge capability. What do you think?

Having ridden in Teslas, sat in (though not driven) Zeekr001, Nio, Li Auto, X Peng, Avatr - all have a significantly better interior than Tesla (eg leather seats, driver display, HUD which are long dreamt about by Tesla owners). Tesla has one strength only in my opinion - the supercharging network.

The only real model 3 competitor we have in my country atm is BYD's seal. i much preferred the interior of the BYD and the comfort of the seats compared to the model 3. I do have a soft spot for the minimalist interior though. A HUD would be awesome, even if it were only reserved for the long range/performance models.

Seeing lots of people discussing the price here, the entrance level of Zeekr 001 model WE was selling 259,000RMB/36,000USD/28,500GBP, with 4D/86KWh and RD/100KWh, with HUD, YAMAHA and air suspension and CDC shock asorbption. The 140KWh battery only selling with RD but an engine using silicon carbide tec. It was a very good deal and attracted lots of new buyers last month, but 2024 Zeekr is on its way.

I prefer this car over the Teslas any day of the week! The only thing that would stop me is the lack of compatible charging points in the charging network and lack of maintenance places for spare parts etc.

I Googled it zeeker 001 starting from 260k rmb. so under 38k usd ? something like that. It is not an expense car. M3 in China cost 1 million rmb, so you can buy 4 of these with m3 money.

For most of the people which is 90% who are very naive see this and hear complex and crowded stuff in it they might find it great but more most of the time doesn't mean you get more for your buck. I wouldn't even compare the Tesla. definitely Tesla is superior in most of the things that people really need... Liz drive it slowly and don't crush it because you might be sitting in an empty shell box

Definitely a Tesla owner that does not mind the bad built quality… I have own a Tesla Y & BMW IX 3 and this is a big step up in terms of quality even compared to the bmw… step out of your comfort zone for once 🤣🤣🤣
