Custom Knife Making: The Commando Dagger
Thank you for joining me on my channel. Today, we will be making a Commando Dagger, inspired by the iconic World War 2 British Fairburn Sykes dagger. I made this knife using 5mm Bohler K460 steel for the blade, 3mm 1070 steel for the guard, 12mm 5160 round steel for the pommel and stacked leather for the handle. Feel free to use whatever you have available or prefer. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.
Check out PART 1 here: • Making a Commando Dagg...
01:00 Cutting and shaping the pommel
05:06 Cleaning the guard and pommel
07:20 Soldering the guard
10:14 Preparing the leather for the handle
11:16 Glueing and stacking the handle
13:35 Shaping the handle
18:24 Cutting the grooves into the handle
19:35 Screwing on the pommel and treat the leather handle
22:00 Sharpen the blade

Yes, you can actually step it up to a 400 grit belt to really smooth the leather out. Dipping the leather in water makes all the difference as you dont get the same results with dry leather.
