Zelda 2 Any% (old WR) First ever sub 16! (frame count 15.59.992)

This happened so fast! I was ready to settle in for a long grind and then 3 days in we get record and to get sub 16 by only 1 frame! As you all know Z2 is a childhood favorite and to get this record and to get the first sub 16 I just have no words. I want to give a special shout out to Frosted Pears for his help with routing a set up for LinkFeet a trick that up until this run was thought to be a TAS only trick. With out it there would be no sub 16. It has been a hell of a ride. I Hope you enjoy the run.

I remember another way to enter "Glitch Town." If you stand on top of the chimney where you obtain the "Up thrust" (sorry I forgot the name of the town) activate the "Jump" spell. After doing this, go back into the menu screen and highlight the "Fairy" spell, but don't use it quite yet. Now, jump as high as you can and activate the "Fairy" spell while you are in mid-air. You won't be able to see yourself, but you can hear the fairy sound. Now, press right or left and you will be dropped into "Glitch Town"

I believe this is the way we originally learned about glitch town. It was used in very early speed runs until the healer glitch was discovered and understood

We broke it😆. Zelda 2 has some major glitches in the original game. They slow us to beat it very fast. If you want a more traditional playthrough I have some 100% speedruns that don’t use these glitches. I also have a full no damage playthrough

Often it starts with someone stumbling onto something “odd” that doesn’t seam to work correctly. From there through trial and error we can learn more. We also can look into the code or memory of the game to find out more info on how and why things are happening. It’s a really long but fun process

This is played on the original NES console with an original Zelda 2 cart. There are many glitches in the game. I do have full no glitch runs as well as a no glitch no damage playthrough

Different categories. Arcus has a run of what is called 100% all Keys where you are required to collect all items and keys. This is Any% where you get to the end of the game as fast as possible and are not required to collect any items that are not needed. I also run other categories but this is the shortest one.
