this indirectly answered the question I've been searching for. You can play this game using the wii u game pad only. Thank you

I bought a WIiu on ebay without a gamepad. I got a Pro controller as well, will i be able to navigate to the game, start it, and play it all without a gamepad?
@JediLennon7 жыл бұрын
+LopeyKneeGrow the box shows remote with nunchuk, gamepad, single wiimote, wiimote with classic controller and pro controller is shown as well. However I will say I tried using a classic controller and couldn't get it to work so I'm not sure. WHY WOULD YOU BUY A WIIU WITH NO GAMEPAD THOUGH??? All the best games use it!
@lopey50357 жыл бұрын
Because I believe it to be a gimmicky overpriced piece of hardware failure. Also I can play SSB4, all the Zelda games, Bayonetta, and Mario all without the gamepad.

I mean I guess if that's all you want to play. I've never had issues with my game pad and most games that are on multiple platforms have way more features on WiiU. Like Batman Arkham city you have your map there always without having to pause, shovel Knight you have all you r abilities available at the touch of the screen. Rayman legends you use the touch screen for a bunch of stuff and new super Mario Bros you use the touchpad for boost mode which lets you create platforms for the players to jump on. I think down the road it will be very collectible as well. But to each their own I guess. Have fun with Zelda

Thats cool and all but I already have those games on PC and they play better. However I love the Nintendo exclusive games. I just dont want to spend $100 on a controller I will never use.

+LopeyKneeGrow guess you won't be playing start fox though one of the best games. And missing half of the features when you play the other games like Mario kart, splatoon, Mario Bros WiiU, Mario maker, captain toad, basically every game has a major use for the pad that improves the experience. I'm pretty sure If you had one you would use it lol

Is the image quality better or worse when on your TV vs the Wii U Gamepad?
@JediLennon7 жыл бұрын
+Johan Hereora Hummerhielm it's technically worse on the gamepad since the gamepad is only 480p but I played a bit on the gamepad alone and it wasn't bothering me. It doesn't look bad until you compare it to your TV lol. I'm assuming you aren't planning to use some old CRT television so yeah TV is better

Great answer! Thanks! Got the game this weekend and absolutely love it. Haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time. It's very, very polished. I guess it's the same with the framerate - you get used to it. Alas I am one who craves 60 FPS every time I can have it (PC), but this is too good to turn down.

+Johan Hereora Hummerhielm I put about 5 hours in yesterday just using the gamepad since the family room TV was in use. I have to say the parts where you are aiming it feels much better using the gamepad. I feel like since you can't use both TV and gamepad the better experience might actually be using the gamepad alone.

Friend, thank you. I'm definitely going to try that. I'm mostly scared I will notice the graphical difference - but trying can't hurt, can it? :) Thanks hughly for the tip.

If you tap, can you play it on gamepad only?!
@JediLennon7 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Travis yes and that is the extent of the game pads use for the game. Considering Link carries a TABLET that he looks at showing a display that looks like a Wii U type sub menu, it's obvious what they did. It's a known fact that development began before the switch was more than a concept and this is proof that once they realized it would be on the switch they switched gears and removed the unique WiiU game play. I mean with practically every other major release that came out on WiiU alongside other systems, the WiiU versions have unique functionality with the game pad......

Perfect thanks! I picked up a Wii-U for dirt cheap just to play on the gamepad, so that is a huge help. Regarding the lack of second screen support, that was announced in June :( Sorry man. - Tyler

Yes, you can play it on the Gamepad only, with the TV off.

Was done intentionally by the developers because they found the gamepad was a distraction that broke immersion and actually took away from the experience. If you're gonna look at the map, might as well pause anyway; you can't play and look at the map all at once. Besides, the game is still phenomenal.
@JediLennon7 жыл бұрын
+Duorsa thanks for watching! Yes the game is still great but I can't buy that explanation for a second. How could having the tablet just like Link has in the game be anything but more immersive? Besides it's not like they were going to omit a pause button so "being distracted" is a non issue! I honestly am still fumbling with the menus (which it seems like the are two sets of!) and find the pausing cumbersome and repetitive. I admit WiiU has spoiled me because I am so used to just looking down it became second nature, but I think this was an intentional step backward! This is the main game selling the switch console after all. If this was really the only launch title you wanted and I told you the experience was better on WiiU (which you already had), would you be scrambling to get a switch yet? Also I wasn't googling this every day or anything the last six months but I didn't hear much talk in the press about this version once NX was the hot topic.
@Duorsa7 жыл бұрын
no problem, was just curious what the gamepad did in this version (displaying the same thing as the tv at all times or not) here's the interview about the Wii U features being cut if you're curious: ca.ign.com/articles/2017/03/02/why-zelda-breath-of-the-wildas-touchscreen-features-were-cut I tend to agree with Fujibayashi because the second screen takes you away from the main screen, where the action is occurring in real-time. That's how I felt with the Zelda remasters on 3DS and Wii U. But in the end, you're right about the pausing. I could just pause the game and use menus if that's what I fancy vs. taking out the real-time menus for everyone. But Nintendo is a business after all; they obviously want to maximize sales of the Switch. Personally, I think this compromise is fairly insignificant and more beneficial for Nintendo (why sell Wii Us, a dead console, when you can sell Switches?), but I understand some may still be annoyed by the sudden removal of the Wii U features.
@JediLennon7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the link! (LOL ZELDA PUN!) I will check it out! I will say it adds difficulty to do things in real time, a great example is shovel Knight on wiiu. All of your abilities are available at the touch of their icon on the screen, yet difficulty IS increased if you don't pause! If they had Mario ready they wouldn't have done this nerf IMO
@Duorsa7 жыл бұрын
I think they would still cut the features if maximizing profits was the main reason. Why not sell lots of both Zelda and Mario (and in turn, Switches), right? This situation feels convenient for Nintendo. I personally don't feel the Switch was ready to launch yet, but their fiscal year and Zelda probably made them consider the March launch date. Waiting for Mario may have been too long, seeing as how Wii U is dead and 3DS isn't much better off.
