This track has been on my to-do list for far too long. After watching numerous Smash Ultimate theory videos predicting the inclusion of Skull Kid in the game, this song came up again and I started playing around with potential arrangement ideas for this track! I ended up taking it in a Pat Metheny direction, based on some of his tracks from "The Road to You". This track ended up sounding a lot like some of my Pikmin arrangements, which I'm totally okay with!
Where this cover really got a chance to shine was in the video aspect. I took quite a bit of time to try and film this cover differently, focusing on a widescreen format with dynamic moving shots as well as some cool color grading, and ended up with a really cool final product! This video feels really "mature" to me, and I really like the final product. Splitscreen won't be going away forever, of course, but I really like this style, and am looking forward to using it in my future arsenal of techniques!

This is honestly the beauty of Jazz, you're given a snippet of a melody in a game, you're inspired to make a cover based entirely on it, and you make it sound funky in the way you want to, while also fitting with the style of the melody! It's just beautiful. Just simply marvelous! Props!

I love how the rodes and piano constantly argue in each ear, playing something different, mostly rhythmically, but it doesn't sound off or too busy (cuz they're silent enough?) But it sometimes adds a lot of tempo and business to the track, together with the percussion going wild. Love it.

Another amazing addition to your VGM covers! I'm in love with this one. Even though water based temples are often a headache for me (and especially with the FLOW mechanics I mean REALLY was that NECESSARY) New Wave Bossa Nova was something I was always eager to hear more of, no matter how many times I had to re-summon an entire island because I started too late or messed up ;w; I think one of my favorite things about this cover is how into the music you get--the wonderful camera shots really get a nice clear image of your fingerings and a good selection of your equipment and versatility! Like, shoutout to that head wave at 4:23, that was perfect. My favorite part is really torn between around 1:54 and 3:53. In the first part of the video, it feels like I'm in some sort of wild speedboat chase over a lovely coral reef, clutching onto my floppy sunhat with unbridled confidence. In the later part, I feel like you really capture the sort of bittersweet feeling of this song, and there's so much less happening than before. It cools down the song, and sort of allows you to reflect on it, if that makes sense--before breaking back into the original speed! As always, wonderful work!
