Zelda Tier List - Ranking the Games (PREPARE TO DISAGREE!) | Hat Stack Chat

This one is going to ruffle some feathers. Here is my tier list for all of the main games in the Legend of Zelda series. A few of my choices may not sit right with some of you, but keep in mind these are all just my personal opinions and this is all just for fun. I really love the Zelda series and wanted a chance to talk about these games a bit.

Finally somebody understands Skyward Sword! You are more than welcome to hangout with me and chat about it anytime 😆 Also what is the music you have playing in the background of your videos? It's really nice. You can play Four Swords Adventure, Single player, with just a GameCube controller. But, if you want to do multiplayer, than you need some link cables and Gameboy Advances. Great video, I have my own thoughts on the rankings that I am working on a video for. Love hearing other people's thoughts on Zelda titles.

The Hat Stack Chat background music is actually something I made myself in FL Studio. I mostly just used the included synths, so I didn’t do anything too special, but I’m glad to hear you like it! 🙂 That’s good to hear about Four Swords Adventures. I think someone was telling me about the multiplayer once and I misunderstood and thought that it was required to play, haha. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I always appreciate the feedback. 😀

Tears behind Breath?? Nah, no way lol. I was just exploring the Gerudo area again in Tears on my 2nd playthrough _after_ clearing out the 1st phase of the Main quest with Riju. There's still _so_ much to see and do! The sand devils, the Mirror podiums and of course The Lightning Temple itself! What a game, it leaves Botw in the dust! Breath: errr yes, a robot camel with nothing inside it but a blob wielding a sparky sword for a ''boss''. Aside from that, a pretty exciting list. 🐲

Thanks! Yeah it’s a bit arbitrary for me between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. I would say TotK is definitely the better game overall and they made a LOT of improvements over BotW, but BotW was more impactful and had more of a “wow factor”, so it felt more special as I was playing through it.

I have an odd fondness for Zelda II, but that Death Mountain difficulty spike near the start was some bull. I think it's the Zelda game in most need of a remake. I would love to see them polish the game up with beautiful spritework and apply some rebalancing and modern quality of life updates. There are a lot of great ideas in there that could really shine if given the opportunity. But as is? I agree that it belongs in D tier. And this is coming from someone who beat the game as a kid and loved it! Check out Oracle of Ages, though! Do a link playthrough with Seasons. I think you would have a great time with it, especially getting to fight the super secret final boss! Great to hear your thoughts on this, Mike. Zelda is a consistently high quality series, and in most cases even a "bad" Zelda game is still pretty good. Except for Triforce Heroes. Screw that game! It's so stupid! Edit for an addendum: you can totally finish Four Swords Adventures solo with a Gamecube controller. I've done it and it's loads of fun!

Yeah, I remember when I decided to finally fully play through Zelda II on my 3DS with savestates and I just kept thinking “holy crap, how are people supposed to do this?” I do agree that a remake with modern touches and making it more intuitive to play could be pretty good, because yeah it does have some pretty cool ideas. Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 Yeah I agree that Zelda is such a great series that even the “bad” ones are good. Like, I know I was a bit harsh on Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker, but I would definitely still consider them to be good games.

Hahaha I’m glad you saw this, since I knew you would approve of that. 😛 For what it’s worth, I still think Wind Waker is a good game. Being ranked lowly among the best of the best doesn’t necessarily make something bad.

@@HatStackMike haha I had to make sure ^_- Strangely, I've never actually played *any* of the Zelda games aside from 10min on the original NES game.. We never had any for the N64 and I haven't gotten any for my 3DSLL. Think I should give an N64 one a try?

Yeah definitely! Other than the dated graphics and low framerate, I think Ocarina of Time still holds up really well and is what I would consider to be the definitive Zelda experience. I don’t remember if you have a 3DS or not, but they released an improved version on that called Ocarina of Time 3D, so I’d say go for that if you can.

I agree this most of this list but you set Wind Waker way to low bro. Did you even play it? Just the final fight with Ganondorf deserves at least an A tier bro, C is disrespectful 😂

Not a terrible list... Personally i would move Majora's Mask to S tier, and lower Breath of the Wild to A tier, even tho... It isnt so much its fault, as it is the fault of Tears of the Kingdom for making it outdated or inferior in comparison. Windwaker deserves to be exactly where you placed it... I would bump it to B tier because the aesthetics never bothered me, in fact i liked them... But being such a repetitive unfinished chore to play also makes me feel like dropping it to D tier... So C is a fair spot for it.

I can totally understand the reasoning for all of those. Majora’s Mask has such an awesome vibe to it.
