rumple actually gave up his dagger to save his son. this is one of his finer moments. his son actually dying made him revert back. He 'killed' zelena trapped people in the hat tried to trap emma in the hat tried to sacrifice hook for a spell to give himself ultimate power. Even if he found the hat in the mansion, had his son stayed alive, he would not have used it. maybe. he was already hanging on a very thin line of forgiveness from his son. he would not have risked it.

Seems sad how everyone forgets that this is probably why he got so obsessed with using the hat: anyone who holds the dagger can use it to force him to hurt the people he loves. *cough "Zelena" cough*

Exactly! Everyone acted like what he did was some horrible crime, an unforgivable sin. But they keep forgetting: 1) Killian stole his ex-wife, emasculated him on multiple occasions, tried to kill him multiple times, tried to kill his Belle multiple times, and has expressed a wish to kill him multiple times, 2) Rumple spent months prior to the incident in the clock tower enslaved by his own mind & a crazy lady with his dagger. Archie could've helped him work through his issues of control & loss if he had reached out.

Actually it most likely would have worked. Pretty sure Baelfire would ahve understood and worked with Rumple to protect Belle. After all, that was one of the two times in his life that Rumple has been shown using light magic.

Why didn't Belle take the dagger from Zelena once she was restrained and then tell Rumple to stop Zelena? I mean the story would have been shorter but did I miss something else that prevented Belle from doing that?

I know this was a while ago, but basically no one can control him with the dagger while him and Neal were both in his body. And he would rather give up the dagger and save his son.

I love how much the personalities and releationships changed between these 3 since this moment. Zelena became allot nicer and has become a pro at sarcasm and sass Belle has become much stronger and independed and rumple sadly became evil again to the point i don't feel sorry for him I really hope they devolpe belle and zelena's releationship even more concidering there close ties to gold. And the fact that in some weird way Zelena might be a bit fond of Belle, concidering she did gave her advice, wanted to share a drink with her, and told her about rumples affair with the evil queen and changing his son's faith
