Thanks Waw Hiker! Yeah, it's kinda funny how satisfying it can be. I can only recall a couple of times that it was so cold here that alcohol didn't work well. I seem to live in the perfect state for them. I'd be curious to know if you ever run into cold weather issues with them.

Crocket, I find this one hard to beat as an all-arounder. I also find alcohol stoves hard to beat for their simplicity, lightness, and pure enjoyment of use, weather permitting. It's rarely so cold in AZ that they don't work for me in most situations. Thanks buddy for stopping by buddy.

Great look at this little stove. My go to alcohol burner is the Trangia stove which has some pros and cons next to this one. -pros built in simmer ring ability to store fuel in the stove and I think it looks cool -cons no built in pot stand heavier The weight difference is really a non issue for my use, but I threw it in as a con since I'm comparing the 2 stoves. I'm looking forward to the other stove videos. Take care buddy!

I don't have a full size Trangia any more, only the small Esbit version. I like the idea for the mini Trangia but it often sits at home. This gives me food for thought though in understanding why I grab the others first. I should have the next video up in the morning. Thanks brother.

That indeed is a great stove. I don't have Zelph's version but made my own with carbon felt. I've found in cold temps (ie. below freezing) it takes about an ounce to boil 2 cups of water. Thanks for the vid. I can't get enough of this stove.

Sounds like a nice little stove you made! 1oz in 30F is still quite a bit of fuel but it might be an efficiency issue with that particular build. It might also depend on the fuel your using. HEET and DA will usually give the highest temps as opposed the isopropyl or spirits. Thanks for stopping by man!

I'll post a couple others that I use and you can decide where you might want to start. As an all-around stove that works well down to about 30F, this one is hard to beat.

I use the same setup and I found that a half ounce heats the water to a temperature that I can add my instant coffee or cocoa and drink it right then without getting burned. If you're using unfiltered water It's probably pasteurized the water to a safe level even if it's short of boiling. If i see bubbles forming in the bottom of the pot it's good to go for me.

Thanks for the kind words William! The "Fanee Feest" (his spelling) comes that way from Zelph at wood gas stoves. If you search those words it will pop up first. I probably won't get into the build videos just because I do very little building and others are far more knowledgeable in that area. I am however a pretty frequent user of many types and have an opinion as to what works.

William Logue That's called Reflectix. It's sold at hardware and home stores and is used in HVAC. It's not like carbon felt and WILL burn/melt if you get it too close to flame. I find it so multi-functional that you'll usually find me with two or more pieces of it on my outings.

William Logue Yeah, the fireboxes are pretty popular. I had one and I want to say it was the stainless steel version. I little bit heavy for my desires but I'll talk about that one when I get to the wood stoves. Thanks again for the interaction!
