During the end of VM he stepped out of character a lot to help strategize and ensure they didn’t go In without a plan. It’s worth pointing out that low stats don’t necessarily mean they have no specialty in some fields - e.g grog being low int but able to strategize before kevdak makes sense.
@droidgeist Жыл бұрын
Really? I find Fjord kinda bland compared to the others, so far. Aside from his relationship 'tutoring' Beau, he doesn't have much of a personality. He's just sorta... there. I'm sure that will change eventually though, because Grog was usually pretty great. I loved the childlike side of the brute.
@droidgeist Жыл бұрын
@@LoogyHeadBeing able to strategize before Kevdak and the speech he gave after he was defeated was inconsistent with Grog's lack of smarts. Your character can be dumb and have a specialty within reason, like being a smithy who knows how to follow the same formula again and again, but being able to reason creatively and articulate eloquently requires higher intelligence than a 6.
@cannonboy9315 Жыл бұрын
@@droidgeist well that depends more on what grogs other stats are and what the plan he made as well as the speech i havent watched VM but if his wisdom and charisma was decent then i could see him being able to do it while having a low int because in our own world he have people who are not super smart but can be very cunning and charismatic in terms of dnd int is more analyzing situations, their ability to memorize stuff, and reasoning. while wisdom is more of the coman sense and intuition and charisma is more the force of ones own personality and ablity to charm and be social. i dont know grogs stats but different groups do play different and playing exactly how your satats are is for some not fun.

It kind of makes sense. When making a character in DnDBeyond, you have the option to gives your character starter gear based on their class/background. Often times this can amount to just having a bunch of nicknacks and tools that you can easily forget about without a second thought.

I'm the person in every party who details everything in my adventuring pack and will pull them out at strange times with unusual ideas of how to use them. If I have 1,000 ball bearings, a few bags of caltrops, a thing of lantern oil, and/or some random objects I've collected, the DM is about to have an interesting day.

The entire exchange with Travis and Sam was great. And it ended perfect with Fjord not going after Nott but actually sympathizing with her. And then Taliesin has to have Molly threaten Nott in the end and shit all over it, I get it his character is a shifty carnie but that really brought the scene down for me. Less is more in scenes like that.
@Jotunn964 жыл бұрын
@@Joestone1984 I disagree, Fjord is far more sympathetic and it would've been super out of character for Molly to let Nott off without at least a slap on the wrist for that. Besides I'm pretty sure the distrust was there the second he cast devil's tongue anyway.

Three days ago I knew almost nothing about D&D. Now I'm 11 episodes into this series and building a character while looking for a group to play with. Edit: I'm now on Episode 89 of this series and in 3 D&D groups haha Edit: I've watched every episode of CR now, DMing my own campaign soon. Edit: My campaign borrows heavily from the lore of Exandria, and as such I'm watching the Calamity series carefully to see how things should tie in 😄. Meanwhile my players just fought several dwarven constructs in a buried ancient city akin to Aeor, dubbed the "Mines of La Ve Di." Edit: The first session of my second campaign begins in 30 minutes, this one set in Tal'Dorei. I now run two campaigns weekly.
