This is AWESOME! AND a perfect review. I am a stomach sleeper too and I hate my legs being restrained and my arms being cold! I had a UGQ 0 degree quilt but drafts were a huge problem, especially since Im fluffy. I ended up giving my quilt to my daughter. Im absolutely buying this. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Ill use your link when I buy in a few weeks. Thank you again. Great review!

Thank you so much for the kind words. This is a really great sleep system. I’ve been able to use a few times on some trips since this video and the more I use it the more I love it. I would like to add that if you already have a sleeping pad that your happy with I would just order the quilt and sheet and save yourself a couple of hundred bucks. Just make sure you match up the width of your pad. I usually use my Thermarest pad with it.

Thanks for posting this review. I’m looking for a sleep system for my husband who is 6’3/240 and a stomach sleeper. I want him to be comfortable so he’ll come on more backpacking trips with me 😅.

Getting a good night sleep after a long hike is so important and I haven’t been able to find that close to home comfort until I tested out this sleep system. I loved it so much that I bought it and it is in my pack on every trip I’m on unless I’m testing something out. It is my first option. The 25 x 77 sleeping pad is the best size for a pad for me that I have found so far. I can’t express how much I love this sleep system. I do use a Thermarest Neo Xlite sleeping with it to lighten up a little bit. I do suggest if you go with the Zinbivy quilt and sheet don’t pair it with a cheap sleeping pad. Zinbivy’s sleeping pad is comfortable but at that same price point you can get a NEMO or Thermarest pad.

I find it interesting everyone says its large but never shows it packed down in a compression sack. The website claims the 10deg light packs down to under half the diameter and similar length compared to my MSS bag but thats what the website shows.

The quilt packs down just as small any quilt, it’s pretty much the same materials with just a few variations between different companies, but ZB’s light mattress doesn’t pack down as small as my thermarest pad. All and all it’s not that bad! Just like everything in backpacking, when it comes to comfort there’s always a trade off in weight and size. I will say that ZB trade off is really low. It’s sorta like owning an Osprey backpack, they are definitely not the lightest pack but it is hard to beat their comfort. I personally think if you can get a sub 15 lb base weight your doing great.

Hi there, thanks for the review. Been looking at these for a while. Can I ask how tall you are ? Apologies if you mentioned it and I missed it. I live in the UK which makes this very expensive by the time you've paid the tax and import duty. They had a 33% of labour day sale on there website recently which makes it a little better. At the time I didn't have the funds but saving up and keeping an eye out for there next sale. Looks like good products thanks again for the review. Regards from 🇬🇧

I’m 6 ft 1 in tall and the 77 inch pad is plenty long enough. Zinbivy is sending me the Core Bed to test out which is considerably cheaper than the Light Bed. Keep an eye out for that review and that might be a great option for you. Plus if you have your own sleeping pad that knocks down the cost by a bit too.

Interesting design. Looks like ZB has solved the "gapping problem" of most quilts. Every review says Zen Bivy systems are very comfortable. But it's expensive, packs huge and is heavy! It woundn't fit in my 45L REI flash pack (that I use for 2-3 night hikes) and leave room for much else. I make my own bags and quilts and sleep great. I start with a 700FP throw. I add 700+ FP down and Climashield synthetic insulation. Cost about $110 for a custom, warm bag. Weighs 26 to 30 ounces depending on the details such as if it has a hood and the amount of Climashield I use. One very nice feature; a long, top/center zipper with a thick baffle. The zipper location and length makes it very easy to get in and out. I've been comfy to 34F using a Nemo Tensor pad. How to videos on my channel, TomLovesDIY

I would go with a 25 x 72 pad. The 25 x 77 is a little too long for and 20 inch wide pads are too narrow.

How small does it all pack down?
@DryBonesOutdoors
@DryBonesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The light bed packs down pretty good considering it uses real down. It fits in the bottom of 40L pack without taking too much real estate. Zenbivy makes a 7L compression sack that you can squeeze it down pretty small, but I just stuff it in a dry sack and push it in the bottom of my pack and call it a day.

You should always try to use something to inflate your pad instead of blowing it up with your lungs. Moisture will collect and mold and start and also will change the r value because of the moisture.

not the heaviest but certainly not the lightest sleep system. Therma-rest beats the mattress hands down in terms of weight, while MegaLite sleeping bag large is just 710g.. Zenbivy's total weight for a light bed is near 1kg (excluding the mattress)
@DryBonesOutdoors

It's only $700 for the one that I'm test because I got all extra large and they also sent me all the extra stuff sacks and pillow. I should have clarified that more in the video. You can get the light bed for $388 and that is a really decent price for a really good sleep system considering that most good quilts are 2 to 3 hundred dollars not counting what a good sleep pad cost.

You are also paying for intelligent design. No cold intrusions when tussling, pillow is caged , not losing it and also keeping the heat in around pillow, ease of use. It’s apples n oranges to buying everything separate disjointed.
