Learned something new about evenly spacing 5 points on a circle. Also, nice tip on the metal shavings. You've mentioned it before but seeing how it could get between the firewall kinda proves your point. Learning all sorts of things from you. Appreciate your videos, Mark!!

The same type of punch is used to cut properly sized holes in the instrument panel for mounting the instrumentation units.

Don't forget some stainless steel mesh with 8 mesh per inch.........form it like a spray paint lid and clamp it over the valve tube end , and under the scat tubing..........if any wasps or hornets build a nest in the scat tubing , they won't be able to make it into the cabin through the valve...........they will be pissed off and will be looking for revenge if they can make it passed the valve , when you open it on short final..........or , you could also fashion a bubble shape ( like your fuel sender covers ) in a flat piece of mesh , to clear the flapper valve ..........and clamp it between the firewall and the valve halves.......either way would work..........I know of more than one pilot that had the surprise of his life , when he pulled the heater valve open and was treated with an encore of stings...

They are chassis punches or as we electricians call them, knock out punches, for conduit sizes. Typically it’s a 1” socket you need.

Everyone has different labels. I'm a ham and build radios. In the days of tube type radios (and for today's RF amplifiers), we use these punches to make holes for tube and coil sockets in the metal chassis.

Cool plane, nice watch cap too. Got one just like it from AAFES. Just a suggestion, Two items I think you should add. First, a cable stop clamp. About about $2 at most parts stores. Place it on the inner wire so when the valve is full open, the stop is in contact with the outer wire. This will prevent damage the butterfly valve or maybe pulling the wire out. Second, there is a thingy called a Choke cable pivot you can use instead of bending the wire on the butterfly. Check Controlcables.com. BTW, I sub'd today. HAGD.

Would you consider loaning out that knockout punch? I hate to spend that much on a tool I will use once. I would pay for postage both ways

The firewall material was almost too thin for the punch. That's why it wrinkled the metal.
