"Revelation" by Masayoshi Soken (from the FFXIV: Stormblood soundtrack) is great for testing subs if you have Amazon Music. If your sub is accurate and goes deep, you can hear at least 2 people playing a giant bass drum with intricate rhythms. If the sub isn't up to par, it just sounds like thunder or a muddy mess.

I use banana plug from the amp to the speaker's 5 way binding post, the a spade from the speaker to the sub.

I do a similar hookup except running banana plugs to the subwoofer’s 5-way terminals, then spade connectors from the same posts to the speakers.
@uhgungawa45742 жыл бұрын
@@deanmorris9622 Yeah, I just do it my way for a more direct run (duel subs) and in my mind it's a "cleaner" signal going to the speakers first. Although the actual affect is most likely nil.

I got my Dynamo 300 from Amazon in 2013 for $130. Came close to selling it as I am an SVS fanboy, but I put together a 2 channel system and it is by far my favorite subwoofer for music. Gives a little bottom to my B&W 606 S2, but that's all they need. A sealed SVS wins out on boom boom music, but that's not my music preference anymore.
@grand7m2 жыл бұрын
I am still rocking a pair of Dynamo 300's to help out my trio of HTM-12's. 12" mains with 8" subs. It was originally supposed to be a temporary budget stop-gap until I could build some big girls but I just never got around to it because I very rarely notice a deficiency.
@jonathantaylor25842 жыл бұрын
I'd love to see more $400 and below subwoofer videos. I know I want a 12" Rythmik for the little bit more, but I'd also like to learn a bit more about budget options before then. My brief look at the budget audiophile subreddit just shows the Speedwoofer and SVS SB-1000 are what people buy
@jiusy232 жыл бұрын
Add a bit more and get a SB-2000 PRO, you'll love the comfort and options the app provides. Of course, the sub itself is great for music and movies, you can easily switch the profiles with the app on your phone - use the LFE RCA input for movies from you AVR and the other one as input from you amp (if it has a SUB out) in parallel, this is my setup and I couldn't be happier with it. The SB-1000 PRO is also viable for smaller rooms and won't break the bank.
@abielpangga63142 жыл бұрын
@@jiusy23 Rythmik is the better subwoofer. SVS may have more freatures but why? just get a mini dsp which you should already have before getting any of these subs.
@jiusy232 жыл бұрын
@@abielpangga6314 how is a mini dsp more convenient than a subwoofer with an app and two inputs? What would the mini dsp add to the equation? AV Receiver connected to LFE input has integrated base management and for the stereo amp you can use the low pass filter of the sub just to add some low end kick if your speakers needed or just because you want to have more base. Why is the Rythmik L12 better than the SVS SB-1000 PRO? Power is similar, price is similar, if anything SVS is a bit more powerful and cheaper. what are the arguments for the L12 being better or more convenient? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious about your reasoning. Just as a side note, the Rythmik is not available in Europe from resellers, if you want to get it here, shipping + taxes would make it far to expensive ...

Sometimes I find it hard to hear when the bass sounds loudest as I turn the phase knob. It's easier if you place your fingertips on the rubber surround. You'll know when the sound is loudest because you'll easily feel the more energetic vibrations.

It actually sounds great inside my Honda believe it or not. lol Just run speaker wire from speakers i to the high level inputs on the sub. If someone does not want to use banana plugs just strip enough wire to fold onto itself to make it thicker and shove it in the high level inputs. The RF7 iii's went up to $4400.

While he obviously liked the new ML 400 sub, Z never told us whether the M-L 400 sub sounded better than the older M-L Dynamo 300 model. Z should pair the 400 dynamo sub with a small speaker for a sound demo. When I say smaller speaker, it could be a Pioneer BS22, a Warfedale 10.1, the Elac UB5, or a Z's favorite, the JBL Studio 530. You really notice the difference when you plug in the sub to speakers with a small woofer that lack big bass punch. On a lark, years ago, I bought the M-L 300 sub, Pioneer BS22 speakers, and hooked them up to an old Nakamichi AV receiver. I added an old Sony CD player. I played that setup for a friend who is heavily invested in Mac electronics and Aerial speakers. He was PO'd. He had to admit, dollar for dollar, my silly setup sounded better. Z is right to say the small 8" woofer on the M-L sub is not great for big home theater, but it is great for music. The M-L 300 fires like rifle shots, fast and tight. I assume the M-L 400 performs the same way.

I'm a "quiet listener" lol. Even classical music benefits from a sub. At least when it comes to my low end tower speakers. It completes the picture, especially when it's at a quiet volume.

I won't get a Vizio again. After a couple of years the TV screen randomly turns off but you can still hear the sound. You need to reboot it to get it working again. It simply will not connect to the internet anymore either despite saying it's connected. I know at least a couple of others with similar issues.

The challenge with 8" subs is they won't give you that visceral gut punch bass you get from 12" and above. At full retail, these are getting close to used Dynamo 1000W territory, which is a MUCH better sub. I have two and would compare them to SVS SB2000s.
