I work in a pharma company with insurance companies for coverage and many of large formulary decision makers are filled with old bureaucrats who can't tell their left cheek from the right. We have presented so many studies showing long term reduction in healthcare costs from metabolic medications but they don't get it. Surprisingly medicaid and Medicare have been so much easier to work with and they are actually responsive to studies.

As long as healthcare is tied to employers, employers are not going to cover it because people change jobs too often now. Employers don't need to pay the money up front for these medications only to have the person leave in a couple years, even 8 years and not see the benefit in the reduced healthcare costs down the line
@xoxokali14328 күн бұрын
Not necessarily….if employers were not allowed to opt out of these medications - and let it be treated like any other medication - then it would work out as it should.

💜💗💜 girl….i was giving you the stink eye in this video!!! I was like what is this??? These numbers don’t add up to anything that you have reported in the past!!! And then you said the study was funded by the insurance companies….made total sense that the numbers would reflect their agenda!!! Thank you for keeping it real and us all up to date!!! Muahhhh. Love to you and the family!

❤❤❤ I walked 6.5 miles today. I totally agree with you on that study. How ironic that it's done by a Healthcare company. At my next doctor appt in a couple of months, my doctor said she'll more than likely discontinue my BP and Cholesterol meds. That was one of the main reasons I started on ZB. I retired last year and no longer wanted to be chained to those meds or this weight. After 5 months, I'm down 41 pounds, which is changing my life and health completely. You can't trust Healthcare companies.

The answer is in your opening statement- only 1 person in 4 remain on the drugs. The article that speaks to weightloss drugs not curbing costs tells how people, in general, are not consistent with their care, likely won’t remain on the weightloss medications or follow through with lifestyle changes. People will look for a quick fix ADDING the cost of the weightloss drugs for a while, but then drop off and fall back into obesity with all its comorbities and cost as much or more than ever on the healthcare plans. Just sharing an unpopular opinion.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your daughter. I would love to hear about her! I lost my brother to suicide 20+ years ago, and that was hard. I lost my Dad 7 years ago on Halloween, and my wonderful husband (my hot husband) to a massive heart attack last year at age 63. I am only 53. I cannot imagine what you've been through and it makes me so proud of you for dealing with all that and all the baggage of obesity. I started at 290 and am down 45 pounds. Zepbound has been a life changer for sure! I appreciate all of your efforts in teaching this community and keeping us up to date on all the bs! Thinking about you during this tough time. ❤❤

💕 ❤️ 💕 Love my LMNT. It’s my daily ritual in my Era 40oz. I even took them with me on my recent 2-week vacation. Total life saver. That article is SO biased. As a marketing professional, I was taught that data can be spun to tell whatever story you want to tell, and that is exactly what they did there. I’ll join you in proving them wrong as I take my 77lbs-lighter self to the gym for a good rowing sesh here in a few minutes. 😉 Sending extra hugs to you during this difficult season. 🫶🏻 😘

❤❤ part of the problem I believe are i hear of so many PCP say okay you are at goal weight now you van go off. It's crazy. Also my dad has several issues that glps and gip would help but all these specialist are not on board. Not sure if it's they don't know or because they are all older doctors. But I have asked his cardiologist, kidney doctor and his neurologist and all said no. Finally his PCP prescribed it for him. Thank goodness for one doctor on board

❤First off, sending you peace, love, and grace as you enter these coming weeks of remembrance. Take your time. ❤️ Now, as far as this article goes, I 100% agree with you. 2 years is not nearly enough time to really gauge how these meds effect overall cost of healthcare. This is a long game. I call total BS here! Totally not surprised that this was paid for my BCBS, cause of course it was!!! Insurance doesn’t want to pay to pay more now to save later. Healthcare as a business is just crazy to me. I could go on, but I’ll get off my soap box, for now! 😉 This was an interesting week for me as I continue to process the loss of my good friend and colleague. I learned some unexpected and shocking news and have just been processing while keeping up with my workout schedule, tracking my food, etc. the whole nine. I’m trying to use this loss as motivation to continue to improve my health both physical and mental. This unexpected news did wreak a little havoc on my mental health, but having my husband and my therapist really helped. As always, taking it one day at a time.❤

💚💚💚 We went to Gibbs Garden today. I walked up a MASSIVE hill to get to the Manor House with my rolator but I did it! Hubby was so patient and understanding. My biggest chearleader today. I wanted to give up and he just kept telling me I could do it. I have done 6,138 steps today! I'm exhausted but it is a good tired! As far as the information in the video, it isn't surprising that their "findings" benefit their decision to not cover the meds. They have knocked our knees out from us and want us to be the one to say i'm sorry or excuse me for it. Infuriating to say the least. But deep pockets hold all the cards and as a collective group we have to fight back. Prayers for you as you walk through such an emotional time. All of us here are sending you bug hugs. 🫂🤗 Much love Elizabeth. 💌💌💌

My goal is to get rid of my sleep apnea and loose between 35-60lbs from my current weight. For context, I had lost about 60lbs on keto years ago and gained some back after a health issue (maintained at least 40lbs for several years).

I have Blue Cross Blue shield of Texas.. I tried to tell me that I was no longer able to get mounjaro because my A1C had come back down. But my doctor was amazing at doing a peer-to-peer with Blue Cross Blue shield doctor... I was approved finally to get back on it. I did find it a little bit weird that the reason they originally denied me is because I do not have heart failure... So I'm wondering if that's something new they're going to be prescribing that particular medication for??

I hear you Countess! With all the medications, wounds, dialysis, cardiac Stent placement, nephrologist fees related to Diabetes, that these GLP-1 'S prevent how are these not less expensive?? Perhaps we (those of us with Insurance) could send their own data to insurance carriers! Yes, they sort of already know, however with putting faces to the stats is more relatable!

Elizabeth - I 100% agree with you. But, it seems that there is a huge issue with maintenance that pharma needs to address. There is no clear direction on what to do after we’ve met our goal weight. They need to prioritize studies on this, which could even result in a new medication. Of course, with prices being what they are and insurance policies dropping coverages, how feasible is it for most to continue once reaching goal? For now, it’s all a very short term outlook (including pharma). They need to develop and financially support a long term solution. I know it’s very scary not having much positive research out there supporting long term success and permanent lifestyle changes. We need a long term solution to really impact future health outcomes.
