Ty for the shoutout :) You may be able to improve the boot times by moving your RST wire to R8C2 south side on the top of the motherboard. I did so on my RGH1 Zephyr and the boots became more consistent. I also have yet to get RGH1.2 working on Zephyrs so Ace RGH2 is still the way for split CB boxes :D

The black epoxy is there to prevent flashing the drive by directly connecting to the flash chip storing the firmware, obviously that was useless when people figured out you can just flash it over SATA. The reason there is only one side of the big chip covered up is probably because that's where the traces from the flash chip go, so that's where you could solder wires to access the flash chip's bus.
@MrMario20113 жыл бұрын
Makes sense! Although I know when reverse engineering happened the epoxy was just a bit of an annoyance, people were able to clear it off.

Shango066 has this rule about resurrecting old tv’s and radios that are filled with mud: Don’t clean it! The cleaning not only removes the mud, but will most certainly destroy the old fragile electrical components in the set. This reminds me of that. Those bolts have misshapened everything and touching it might cause more issues. Bonus: To clen my 360 i washed the mobo in the sink. Yeah. Worked a treat! And it still works! Just let it dry.

Love watching your videos, I actually was scouting ebay for a 360 and found a Jasper that had a gamestop refurb sticker on it. I'm pretty certain that they eventually started doing this with any system they got whether it was working or not. Currently having trouble with a Zephyr I got for dirt cheap recently. Sadly it was bolt modded and presenting the E74 RROD. I tried to use my heat gun for a shoddy reflow attempt but it only yielded two hours of play before she had E74 again. Thinking it may have to have a reball, but the board showed minor warping when it had the bold mod. Not sure if it's worth it but I'd rather not let the system become e-waste or salvage because it has the NXE dashboard.
@timoarrg2 жыл бұрын
If you're in the us your best shot is sending it to Octal itself. Reflowing or reballing is just a temporal fix as the problem is inside the chip itself so you yourself can't fix it unless you have a spare chip
