The Asus G14 turned out way better than I ever thought it could! It’s much better than the 2020 model and far better balanced than the Zephyrus G15 I just reviewed. Good job Asus 🤛 With that said this is still a 14 inch laptop if you do not need this level of portability, Gaming on this small of a screen may not as enjoyable as a 15 inch or larger device.

One of the first pro reviews - so far your review lines up with my experience. Gets hot, skin temp is a bit much, but no, or rare thermal throttling and performance is great. And you are also the first out there to point out how great silent mode is on this thing. It's an excellent way to play a lot of games at 60FPS - more than you'd realize. I can play Destiny 2 on high/60FPS (a few mid 50s but the freesync easily absorbs it), Doom Eternal, CIV VI - and I'm sure a whole lot more, and still peg at or near 60FPS.

It’s the best gaming laptop for those who’ve used 14 inch laptops all their life and find even lightweight 15 inch laptops very cumbersome. I think g14 is one of revolutionary gaming gear for 14inch and the size , weight in 2021
@ingjoelmedina3 жыл бұрын
It is interesting that they release a 14inch laptop that most of us would use mostly for the portability while traveling and still not include a webcam. A big chunk of the target audience for this small gaming laptop are the many of us that want something small for travel and work but with enough power for the ocasional gaming. It would be interesting to see the actual amount of sales lost just for the lack a such an unexpensive addon like a Camera. I noticed in some forums that I was not the only one that didnt buy because of the lack of it. In the end I ended buying the Acer Predator 300SE. If next year they release a better one and decide to add the camera, theres going to be an extra bump in their sales.

@@jcurry3school whats "a lot"? I personally dont know a single gamer that would not buy a gaming laptop because it has a webcam integrated, nobody gets mad for having extras. What I DO KNOW is about gamers that would NOT buy a laptop for the lack of it. Check the forums and you will see. Its 2021, the decision of not having it is not justified and its an obvious mistake because they are losing sales.

It blazes through premier pro and after effects, handles photoshop, luminar and lightroom like they are nothing and I played many AAA titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 remake, Resident Evil Village and many more and it handled everything like a dream. It's mainly my travel workstation but sometimes I use it as my main when my desktop is too busy doing other works. This also handles 3d panorama stiching like a pro. Only problem is that it gets hot so a cooling pad is mandatory.

For the memory part, they do have an option to solder more memory even though in a 14" chassis. Like late last year, 16Gbits Micron Rev B DDR4 has been in the market. So if you have 8 chips with 2Gbyte each, you do get 16Gbyte of RAM . And 16Gbit Samsung M die, launched more than 1 year ago is also an option. That is how we get 32GB DDR4 unbuffered DIMM sticks on the desktop these days. However I rather the Zephyrus have a thicker chassis with 2 RAM slot , stacking on top of each other. I do not think it will increase the weight much.

I don't understand why can't OEMs just use stacked dimm slots, that way u need almost the same area on the Mobo, while slightly increasing the thickness. Also, I stated this in another video as well (don't remember if it was yours or some other channel's), another thing OEMs can do is solder 256/512 GB onto the Mobo and leave an empty slot if they don't have the space for two slots. Providing a second 2242 slot is alright, but you can hardly find drives that size now.

Fantastic job, your review pretty much covered everything good and bad about this laptop, but is it worth going for the 500$ more g15 than g14 if screen size is not important? To me g14 looks like a way better purchase...

Is it exact performance as g15 ? Can’t choose between this 2
@pedjadoktor78033 жыл бұрын
@@alexshine8512 as Bob said, g14 is way better tuned, g15 has problems with temperatures due to higher voltages, I ordered g14 for myself as I prefer less noise and less heat performance, for me it's not worth paying extra for g15..

@@alexshine8512 you will have to check for yourself but I think it's 5ms or 9 compared to last years 20 or more, no ghosting like last year's model...

One question for G14 2021 owners...does your device goes in sleep corectly?! I had 2020 model before and all worked well, now with newer model, when I press sleep, screen turns off but coolers still works. Any solution?

Man this is mainly why I switched to pc gaming completely. The joy of siting comfortably on a chair, sucked into a full size 27" monitor and never having to worry about thermal or acoustic nonsense is insane. Sold my omen 15 and bought a macbook air for casual web browsing and ms office on the go..

Awesome vid, Question: If the laptop screen is 144hz and I have a 240hz monitor can the laptop run 240hz and not cap at 144hz?

I'm debating whether to buy this, i plan on just using it for mmos like guild wars 2 and final fantasy 14. How well does this handle long sections on titles like those?
