Actually, we later found out that it was a coordinated attack by large Chinese platforms that have app stores because Mihoyo refused to put their game on them and pay exorbitant fees. On a regular platform, like Steam, it's around 30/70 split in favor of devs. In China, Tencent Appstore have a 70/30 split in favor of the app store. Mihoyo knowing they had a winner in Genshin Impact refused to submit to this kind of extortion, so companies like Tencent had to make an example out of them and drag down the reputation of the game and make it fail, so that other devs won't get any ideas. Basically, Tencent and other platforms in China is the tech cartel. Unfortunately for them, in the case of Mihoyo, they held their ground and became both wildly successful and profitable.

Besides of the 70/30 thing, I also heard that Tencent was intented to buy mihoyo's shares but mihoyo refused. I am not sure if it is a conspiracy theory or a fact that Tencent attacked mihoyo, but it won't be a surprise if Tencent really did it. On the 1st year of Genshin's launch, the reputation of genshin is very bad in China. In Bilibili, genshin was rated 3-4 out of 10. (and 5.8/10 today) It took a long period of time for people to notice that the public opinion on the game is so wrong.

@@goolay1799 On the stock thing: The reason they couldn't buy mihoyo stock was because mihoyo never went public. Mihoyo tried to go public a few years ago but got refused by authorities because for some technical reason they didn't qualify. After that, they stuck with being private. Had they went public, they would likely have been quickly bought up and destroyed by Tencent, and Genshin would never be produced.

When the attacks online attacks started, there were so many so called "Zelda players" jumping out to accuse genshin, even though most gamers in China likely never heard of Zelda until Genshin debuted. People has taken to calling it the "Hundred thousand Zelda players" event. It also spawned a famous gag, where someone was poking fun at one such "Zelda player", asking him who the protagonist of the Zelda game was, and he answered confidently: "It's Zelda, of course". Even now these attacks are still ongoing. You can occasionally see bots spreading hate comments because they detected the keyword "原神" in some completely unrelated video.

Bc of some confusion with some of Zepla's fans and Zep herself; The Hoyoverse is essentially its own multiverse. Each game *sort of* exists in it, with I think only 1 exception which I can't even remember that is apparently just an AU or something. This means that, yes, Honkai and Genshin do share the same multiverse, and have similar laws and rules when it comes to their world structure. Teyvat, however, is canonically cut off from the rest of the universe (heavily theorized to be in its own bubble universe, which is a concept from honkai) and thus doesn't really share much with the others in the universe outside of some similar faces. You absolutely DO NOT need to know anything about any other games in the Hoyoverse to enjoy or get invested into genshin. Starrail, however, will be building upon some of the ideas of Honkai3rd and in some ways is its direct sequel.

By the way, all of the games before Genshin were heavily influenced by Neon Genesis: Evangelion. Honkai Impact 3rd is a nod to the Third Impact from NGE, as are all of the cross-shaped flares whenever you see explosions (even in Genshin). In 2021, they had a dream cross collaboration with NGE 3.0 + 1.0 in Honkai Impact 3rd. They went all out and created a whole new side story event that had Asuka (fully voiced) transported into the Honkai world to help battle against the Angels. I admit, I whaled a bit on getting Asuka as a playable character. I knew she would be a one-time deal so it would be the only time you could ever get her, her Lance of Longinus, and her EVA stigmatas. The whole event was an incredible time for miHoYo because the original creators themselves were actually huge NGE fans. Oh and as a side note, They reference their other games a few times in games outside of Genshin. Like Dvalin could be seen in a scene when they were showing different "bubble universes" on a computer screen in the main story, and a few references to Tears of Themis in Honkai Impact 3rd's 2023 new years anime short and also in the upcoming Honkai Star Rail RPG game. Last bit of tidbit, I've also heard rumors that they had been approached by Tencent once to buy them out, but they were one of the rare Chinese companies to refuse the offer. I'm not sure how much truth to that there is, though, but they certainly aren't part of Tencent.

The different name versions for the same game were for different servers, it seems. The reason why a whole bunch of games takes place on the same Honkaiverse is because they're like leaves on the same Imaginary Tree. Or rather, they are the leaves. It's complicated. The explanation is in _Honkai Impact 3rd_ . Mihoyo doesn't seem to like doing the same thing twice, so all their games are of different genres. This is why I think they're a company to watch. Other companies wanna copy _Genshin_ 's success, but Mihoyo is already several steps (and games) ahead. And they will support their active games as long as they're profitable. Honestly, i started with Honkai Impact, the game which made MiHoyo giant it is right now, and made Genshin Impact possible. And that was my first game on Mobile, where i saw that Studio really gave a sh*t about its game. Story is Great, Events are fun, Voice Acting is 12/10, Music? 12/10 Story CGI? Jaw dropping 15/10 And it makes me respect MiHoyo as a Company. Should watch Honkai impact CGI Cinematics. They are great, without even playing the game. There is an order though

oh dang, you went deep deep. I think I got myself a new notification bell. very few go that deep into Mihoyo, I welcome the new addition of channels I follow for years since "final lesson". sadly, even as a meme video, I don't think it gets more informative than this. I personally have been waiting for Genshin since I knew about Honkai, to me it seemed like they tried to add open world to Honkai and failed...so they decided to make a whole new game. Zelda's clone dreadful drama blew up, and now everyone knows about it. I just know, I have yet to play Honkai yet I have watched their cinematics religiously for years over and over, plus never missing on reactions channels that dive into them. Hoyoverse's storytelling is so fascinatingly angst, that is not about If I love Genshin now ( though I do), but rather I love of what it can and will be in the future. If you wanna go even deeper, just know that the multiverse similarities on Raiden Mei from Honkai, Raiden Ei from Genshin, Yae Sakura from Honkai, Guuji Yae from Genshin, plus others, is not only just the tip of the Iceberg, but Hoyoverse is 100% milking it for what its worth and I cant wait for chapter 5 next year, when we meet the Murata clan described inside many Mondstadt items/weapons/artifacts. ...if Bronya appears in ch 6 of Snezhnaya, I will be officially mindblown by this game...

2018 is not the global release of hi3 because i started playing hi3 in 2017 around q3. at that time, most gacha are the same. fan service illustrations, but simple gameplay. either chibi or side-scrolling images, or just casual arcade level games. there's the usual mmo, and there is hi3. a console quality mobile game. it's like hi3 was ahead of its time at that time. hi3 is the reason i became a mhy fan and really became excited for gi.

As there is a war going on with honkai vs genshin, lemme give my opinion on which is better, Story- honkai impact 100%, genshin's main world structure and lore is built upon honkai and if i were to rate both stories it would be 9/10 for honkai and 7-8/10 for genshin (considering if you read everything in the game unlike 98% of the playerbase) like seriously i liked both of these lores more than elden ring, dmc, etc. Graphics- genshin 100%. I don't need further explanation. Music- sound design wise it's genshin, emotions wise it's honkai. Gameplay- purely subjective, but hey, i like honkai's hack and slash more. Character design/skins- i prefer honkai impact's skins a lot because they actually have a lot of work out into a lot of them. As for general character design, i still like honkai's better because genshin's character design is inspired from honkai. F2P friendly- definitely honkai because unlike genshin, i didn't need to pay 8k on honkai (i barely even spent 100 on it to get whatever I wanted). Community- honkai(I'm disregarding both Chinese communities). Genshin's community is way too big which automatically and inevitably means that it's gonna have a lot more toxicity in it. Environmental details- genshin. No explanation needed. Manga content- honkai impact has more than 20 mangas.....do i need to explain more? Plus second eruption is a masterpiece which i still want an anime for. Symbolism- there is more direct symbolism in genshin because it has the advantage of the open world so it can just put inspiration in statues and other structures unlike honkai which has to put them in the hidden story.

Are you serious? 80% of the entire story of Honkai is basically a filler and a ton of useless flashbacks (recapping for years into an anime power up like the new final arc in Honkai's story for the 10+ times in the seriess). I respect your opinion but honkai story is by far one of the most edgy and cringy, with overly used of "random anime power up and power of friendship" in all of anime gacha games I've played (like 100+ cn, jp, kr gachas). It's also the most p2w gacha game to ever existed since FGO with its paid-only stigmatas only being obtainable on the banner rather than making all of them farmable when we also have to worry about getting duplicates for those s rank. Also, Genshin has no overpriced packs like Honkai does and gacha is cheaper; 1600 per 10 pull versus 2800 per 10 pull; $600 usd on honkai for 80 pulls while Genshin is $300 usd for 180 pulls (guarantees two 5*). Because, you know, you need at least 36 of those stigmatas and combining the total cost of the stigmata pity is like 1800+ pulls in total to get all 36 stigmatas, unlike how genshin, seven knights, kings raid, summoner wars, and epic seven had done it. I would agree that the gameplay is better but Genshin's story is a lot better written, as far as building a better structural story without requiring you to spend 10+ hours to understand each chapter after doing your research offline on the wikipedia page to understand who the organizations were, how characters met, what happened in the past honkai 1st and 2nd, who's the serpent group, why is the main characters in an organization with such a heroic ideals but the one in charge is evil af, what the robots and the honkai dudes supposed to be, and so on. Coz you know, the story in honkai kinda just moves forward assuming that players know the story more than they do when nothing else is there to explain what's happening or who everyone or everything is. So a complete new player wouldn't be able to understand what's happening apart from just reading the character's emotions and react to the characters rather than the writing. That said, the only story done right in honkai is actually elysian realm outside of the entire horrible main story quest (30+ chapters). Also, the in-game story, when it forces you to stay in place or slow walk to your destination, that's one of the worst things I've ever experienced in a video game. I guess it makes sense since Honkai is a phone game quality by design. So in term of story, Genshin is much easier to follow and it slowly feeds you the information rather than throwing you like an entire essay on the lore on the spot and somehow there are more 10 minutes later. Even then, at times the game doesn't even explains why the characters suddenly appear in a different dimension or sub-spaces or how they got in and out or why certain characters are there with them or why they meet another character there or how and why after going through 10m+ of filler talks and flashbacks, mei kiana and bronya were able to get another herrscherr power by doing so. It's just a pile of mess of terrible story structure with many missing bases of story and info foundation in the world building that makes Honkai story extremely overrated. I won't say honkai is a bad game since most of the players are playing honkai not for the story but for the combat and the characters, honestly.

I think she'll enjoy it gameplay-wise, but all the playable characters are female (save for Adam in the APHO side story) and very gear towards the male audience. Sure, the male characters in the game are interesting in themselves but the main focus are on the girls. If she does end up sticking with it after the beginning few chapters then it's about where the interesting part begins, and will probably find out why people have called it "Depression Impact" out of love. lol

Even crazier is that Honkai Gakuen/ Gun Girl Z is still running, a lot of people thought it ended with the infamous world ending event, but it reset the universe into a second part. Honkai 3rd is also getting a second part soon, Genshin will likely see a second part when the 7 chapters of Teyvat ends, maybe we'll see another continent or world.

@@winterwisteria The game first appears to be a waifu game then it turns around and gives you an actual female empowerment story where the characters overcome great tragedy and finds hope. There's a chapter where I cried for 5 hours straight. You know how Sumeru's story is so compelling and pays off really well emotionally and lore wise? It's so good that people claim that Genshin borrowed Honkai's writers to make sure they step up from Inazuma, if you like Sumeru's story, that's what Honkai is like.

I've seen many ppl attribute Genshin's cel shaded art style with BoTW inspiration/'clone' but I always felt that mhy was probably just used to it from HI3 and decided to continue with it. Their designs in HI3 are a whole another level.

Kiana and the Moon are extremely important aspects of Hoyoverse, she represents Chang'e the Chinese Moon goddess who sacrificed and exiled herself to the Moon, only accompanied by the Jade Rabbit. In Genshin she is the Unknown Goddess, suspected to be the Heavenly Principles.

most people play this play for free, me too for most of the time. I only spent a few dollars here and there, buying the 5 dollars a month item for extra primogens when I log in game. I played for over 2 years and I spent less than 100 dollars. That is way less I have spent on League of Legends buying skins. The people who spend a lot of money are rich people who want to support the game. The quality of their music and animation and story-writing is the best in the industry.

Genshin Impact is the better game but I can confidently say Honkai Impact 3 has a better Story and weirdly enough Better Animated Cinematics... I reccomend watching their Cinematics it's all available in their official YT channel and I'm not 100% about this but I think Mihoyo is OK with reacting to their videos...... Also Honkai Impact 3 = SEA Server Honkai Impact 3RD = Global Server (Or was it the other way around)
