The events going away isn’t to do with FOMO. It’s to do with file size. If you could play every event they release in the past including the story with it. The game would be over 100 gig by now.

Exactly. I particularly hate the argument that "they can just make it so that the events are downloadable whenever you want", like yeah, Einstein. If that was that easy and simple they would have done it by now. Sometimes, the players are just more unreasonable and absurd than the game companies. The exact same way how the League community seems to think that they would be a better balance team than the actual balance team.

That's more about some extra work, because there IS a way to handle both file size and events replayability. They can just make event content separately downloadable like audios for different languages are. You want to replay an event quest? Download its content (not much by itself), play, delete. Few other gacha games already implemented this mechanic (Alchemy stars, for a small example). But usually they make events replayable only after some time after their debut. Why? Because FOMO is a thing. For a constant player it may be not that big of a deal anyway. But that's just how the things are.

This is such a BS excuse. You can just make the events downloadable. This is not some difficult to program thing. You just introduce some NPC that puts your character 'into a dream' and they 'relive a past memory'. The past memory is the event. Make it so you can only download one event at a time because the NPC can't send you into multiple dreams, and then don't provide the rewards. When you 'end the dream' by pressing a button on the event tab or interacting with an NPC, the game ejects you from the event and deletes your files. Easy. For certain things like the limited weapons, those would be better served with a shop of some sort anyway, like the other limited items.

No. It is not related to the amount of money Genshin makes. Genshin updates have been consistently done every 6 weeks since the beginning. It is just Hoyo's way of doing things

It is related. Genshin has a massive dev team (bigger than WoW's I believe) and is able to pump out as much polished content as it does because it can afford to pay for that many staff. Now it certainly requires excellent management and organisation but the money the game makes is why they can afford the resources to produce as much content as they do.

Someone already mentioned Honkai, but even before that, there was GGZ, which at this point is almost a decade old game, yet they are still updating it regularly. They are not doing regular updates because they have to, they are doing it because they WANT to. They don't have a lot of staff because they can afford to, they have a lot of staff because they want their games to be polished. Of course it helps that they have the money to do so, but that's not the reason, or rather, the only reason they're doing the things they do.

What these people try to see is how hyv try to update every month, veterans are numb these days, while new one are confused and welcoming. We got general criticism about gacha as a whole, and its interesting that most see gacha mechanics like genshin is not entirely focus.

I used to 100% everything in the first week of the update. But last month I decided to go for a Master degree, now I still have not experienced the new map and haven’t even started the new event quest. Every time I want to play, my calculus, JAVA, SQL assignments are right there to screw the mood. Now I’m just constantly filled with anxiety, why did I do this to myself…

Just a word on Genshin events: even if they change some of the details, most events are repeated, eventually. Like the tower minigame comes along once in awhile, but they change the nature of it a bit. Ultimately they all are fun and interesting, and if you missed on this year, It will probably come along again soon, if a different variation. and they all result in very similar rewards, so your account will still progress consistently as long as you get in an play when you can. Genshin (and Star Rail) do not really have a progressive endgame. I would say that they are more horizontally progressive. So for players that are hell bent on maxing their accounts, whaling themselves to a new level and competing will think it's boring and the only thing to do is Abyss. The bulk of the playerbase does not reflect this. I still struggle now to have enough time to do everything I can do in Genshin Impact, even if it's the only game I play that day. But I don't whale, I don't rush to complete content. I log in, do dailies, see what events are up and running, do the events that I feel motivated to do, and progress the story a bit more. HSR is the same for me. If you play like that, you will pretty much never catch up with the content in either game, and IMO that's a good thing.

Yep yep, highly recommend the best event, by that, I mean Albedo, Dragonspine and the lore behind them, still think 2.3 and it's cutscene is the best to this day. (Funfact: 2.3 is the first to feature double 5 star banner re-run, being Albedo and Eula, and coincidentally, the last time we see Eula had her re-run)

The best thing I've ever done in Genshin was chill down on my progress, there is no pressure and that fomo when you play the game at that steady pace and in my opinion much more enjoyable. I often wait a few days to start a new limited story arc in-game and because of this I appreciate the fact that the game doesn't force or pressure you to always get involved (or spend)

No. Everything he says is completely reasonable; add some endgame, add any reason to continue to build characters. Over half of the content in the game has been event content that will go away and is usually boring and is completely unrelated to the combat in genshin. I'm not even someone that can regularly 36 star the abyss but I still want more permanent combat content that isn't a massive dps check. I've only played hsr for a few hours and I've had more fun there than I have in genshin for the past few months. Hsr has fun combat, good dialogue, and it doesn't have paimon.

For me dry weeks in Genshin work perfectly, cos I do not have much time for gaming and this gives me windows to play other games that I'm interested in, that was one of the reasons why I quite MMO gaming, cos in most of them to be somehow effective you need to live a live in them and have no time to play other games the way you like to, so Genshin's system with dry weeks for me is amazing.

Hmm, I think it would be a neat way to address your complaint about missing story based events if we find a tower that lets you travel in time to revisit those. I'm okay with missing the mini games but I would like to play the story content. They're really just tossing away voice acted cutscenes out here. You can learn Fischl's story from leveling friendship though. She's so good, I started playing during her banner apparently, got c3 as a free to play player.

That may be true, but missing out on her mind palace adventure in the 2.8 Golden Apple Archipelago patch is a huge L. That was easily one of the best story segments in the game and it's for a 4-star of all things. Completely unique domain with unique music and voice acted in-game cutscenes that pretty much complete Fischl's character arc.

in arknights, they make event stories become readily accessible in the game after a year they released. you don't get the same amount of rewards as when they first dropped, but the lores in their events are just too amazing to make them a one-time thing. i hope they do that too in genshin. they don't have to reproduce the same amount of rewards, but at least make the event story & limited-time areas be readily accessible too; it doesn't have to come w/ the base game, but it's still readily downloadable to players who want to replay it

Really you need to tailor your play to the kind of game you want to play. It's easy to drift into (imo dull) grinding to overpower your characters and then all battle challenge in the open world goes away - and then all that's left (battle-wise) is the Spiral Abyss. I prefer casual challenge in the open world and hate grinding. My solution is to keep my characters at mid level (which means i can have all my characters available to use .. not just a select few) and raise the world level until about 1/4 battles in the open world i can't sleepwalk thru.

Lowkey unrelated, but I'm glad Dragalia Lost was my first Gacha game. No paywall, no PVP leaderboard meta, no pressure to pay to play freely at all. It had great combat, great music, great devs that listen and were generous to give out pulls during half-anniversaries and anniversaries. The only time I spent money was because I wanted to give back to the devs lol. It had flawed yet likeable characters. Events that touched on past characters and their character development. I just realized Genshin and Dragalia are very similar in terms of these lol, maybe that's why I stuck with Genshin for the past 2 years. Such a great game, but alas, of course it had to come to an end eventually. Glad, I found Hoyo tho. They're not as generous as Cygames, but hey, they put out such amazing games.

also the "endgame' argument is pretty dumb. Genshin "endgame" isnt the Spiral Abyss. Genshin is a singleplayer RPG, the term "endgame" refers to the content that keeps players engaged in the game after they reach the maximum level. Genshin doesnt "need" an endgame, the same way Elden Ring or Breath of the Wild doesnt need an endgame. nobody return to Genshin every 6 weeks to play "the Spiral abyss", no they come back to see whatever the fuck happen in the new region and to see Eula's buttcheek and warm milk. most of other gacha games need an "endgame" because the gameplay are just stats check with PNGs, they need endgame content to keep player engage and spend money on better units, thats how they make money. Genshin doesnt need to do that, they just need to tease Shenhe's hip window and Raiden titsword for people to go awoogaaa and dump their paycheck in

Events are usually story bits of a random set of characters that is already there as text, but with visuals- this patch has a Kaveh centric event, whatever inspired it it's probably on his voice lines or bio. Some events like this year's windblune function as a teaser for what's to come. So it's either info that's already in the game or info that will eventually be added in the game

Hoyoverse still see themself as a growing company thus are putting much more money into their games to invest in the future. While companies like blizzard probably see themself more as an already established mature company that focus more on profits since they have shareholders to please and their own ptoential growth prospect is not as high as younger growing companies like Hoyoverse.

My favourite thing about Genshin’s story plot is it’s a spin off story that expands the main universe of the HonkaiVerse and experiencing Genshin with Honkai Impact 3rd with star Rail makes it even crazier and so much more well written. Every Part of Sumeru was a DIRECT reference to Honkai and I love that. Sure HI3rd has no PLAYABLE male characters (outside Adam, the Main Character of the side story A Post Honkai Apocalypse, APHO for short) but what they do in the story, is far worth the investment even if it’s just a casual play through the story and leave when their isn’t any if you don’t enjoy the gameplay. It’ll also give you more context to Himeko, Welt, Silverwolf (Known as Haxxor Bunny in HI3rd), Luocha, Sushang, Bronya, Seele and EVEN Kafka. The HonkaiVerse is BORDERLINE insane in its narratives and Lore, like HOLY SHIT there’s so much to it. Edit: I forgot to mention Cocolia thats also in HI3rd

I actually hate this because there ain't no way I'm playing more than one gacha game at a time, and I'm *definitely* not playing three of them just so I can get all of the lore references. It would be one thing if they made a standalone $60 game once every 5 years, then I'd easily keep up with the series. But having 3 different concurrent live-service gacha games is just an utterly insane ask from any working adult. I really wish people would stop trying to make multiverses because it's just too much to keep up on. There's a lot of other shit I'm trying to play/watch through at any given time and I don't have the time to play 3 gacha games.

People got confused with why people were being mean in League. People thought that it was simply people getting randomly angry with no rhyme or reason beyond the person(s) being angry people. So Riot Games went forward with their mission with that statement as their guide. They didn't realize the reason people were getting mad was because most players were just turning the game on for numbers and graphics to flow over their screens to nihilistically watch while they rested. And weren't actually there to play the game. Instead they were treating it as sit on the couch and watch TV time. Which resulted in them being a massive cripple on their teammates' efforts to win resulting in their teammates getting angry. MMOs are better at mitigating the TV "gamers" by making a bunch of low-level content that players need to grind through before they can do the God-tier cataclysmic events. But League just threw players right into the mix. I also believe that Riot wanted to purposefully allow TV gamers to play because they'd be much more interested in buying character skins than players that wanted to play. Even casual players- indeed, I myself am a very casual gamer so this isn't coming from a high level 420 pro-scope perspective. I would just like to play but I cannot because 3/5ths of my team are wandering around aimlessly while the enemy is running a fully coordinated assault across the entire board. That isn't even the worst part of these players. They will never surrender, no matter how bad of a disparity between the teams they create. No matter how much their involvement in the game is just walking around aimlessly while things are happening around them. They will actually chastise you for trying to surrender. Then they'll try to surrender as the enemy team is mere seconds away from winning the match and surrendering is completely pointless and saves no actual time at all. So yeah, stay away from League of Legends. Stay as far as you can. It is a desolate wasteland of absolutely no value.

So much hate and love for genshin.. i stick with this game on day 1 until now. Ive been sell my first acc. And regret it. So im start again in 2021 jan. Until now. Im not leaving again. True.. necrit say no pushing even u log in only once a week or full day or just spent resin. No one care. Thats why i kept in this game on my phone. Now im waiting story, chara, sign weapon, map. And they will still be my COLLECTION.

LOL...Diablo 4 devs will release Act 1 at the start...then Act 2 next month, & Act 3 after 3 months, up to Act 4 after 10 months. then Act 5 will be an expansion release after 2 years.

League is pain. On paper it's a fun game; - Decent voice lines. - A wide array of characters to get invested into. - A decent backlog for the world and story of those characters. - Decent feeling reactive combat. - A variety of game modes to play so things still feel fresh. But it's community is so terrible, and the competitive nature of the game really brings out the worst in both yourself and others. League feels like hitting yourself on the hand with a hammer for 40 minutes at random when something goes wrong. Every game is winnable, but it's close for the most part [most win rates are around 55% for the best champs example]. So when someone doesnt do their mechanics correctly, loses an objective because they decided to have a fight they had no hope of winning, gives a lot of kills earlier you feel like you're falling behind if you're ahead, and if you were already behind, hopeless. League doesnt make me angry, i just get depressed and disappointed, both in myself and in my teammates arguing with each other over stupid shit. It's a team game, you cant carry out a win unless you get so far ahead early game you're capable of it. And yet i feel like i should be carrying the game, when i logically understand it's a team effort. I could get 3 picks in a fight, die and still get flamed because the rest of my team do nothing in the time me and the enemy are dead. Put it this way - i decided to be nice and start complimenting people when they made a good play, flirting with the enemy team and having banter to make it more fun for all involved. People said i was being toxic when i said that it was a nice hook, or that they had good team synergy. I was met with outright hostility when i tried to have some banter. You think wow is bad for not telling new players how to do things and getting mad when they dont know something? League players get mad, and verbally abuse their teammates for dying once even if it's not their fault. They will verbally abuse their jungler for not sitting in their lane 24/7, for not getting drake/baron/rift which provide buffs. And the ironic thing is that they will get mad at the jungler if they arent doing these things simultaneously - as though the jungler can sit in their lane to help them, and also take objectives across map. I dont even play jungler, this is just what I've seen. I main ADC.

Shoving "limited time" sales to your face, locking story/lvl progress through forcefully making you gacha max copying multiple 5* characters, p2w pvp, 2 month grind for characters that you can make into 1 month via 3 purchases per day. The worse thing mihoyo have is basic gacha stuff. You also do not know the definition of defend, if you think saying "a cube isn't round" is defending a cube

How is that fomo? They're not forcing you to play at all. If you want the lore there's a lot of genshin related videos on youtube. You can even watch entire playthroughs for event. If Hoyoverse really wanted to use that FOMO they'll be copyright striking every channel that keeps any info regarding past events just to make sure people play not to miss it.

@@VaniG91 dude the game is FREE. It is played on multiple devices and has updates every 6 weeks. Adding literally a huge chunk of game material just to provide content that is easily available outside of the game seems illogical and a waste of time and resources. Sure they can optimize it so that if the player wants to repeat the story they can download the resources on their own device to experience it but at this point I'm not expecting them to do that. We're playing a free game so expectations should always be managed.

It can't be called underappreciated when the playerbase is small to begin with. Also, seeing Honkai streamers like UD, Kodla, Island etc. reaction on HI updates with their viewers, it's definitely appreciated by the community as opposed to Genshin that have huge playerbase but the ones that appreciate the monthly updates are only 50% or even lower.

Most of the story is f.... very annoying. Drags and waffles on so much with far too much text strings where you spend 20 minutes being bored out of your mind. The cutscenes are great. There are some hidden side quests that have better story. Hoyo could really push the game to top quality but they still drop the ball with under estimating the potential of their game and their playerbase. Spiral Abyss is a dps check and all these events are a waste of time unless there's an item you want but that means fomo. They could take the best events and combine them into helping with end game content

About time since I don't want to hit a wall for now I haven't cleared the Current Storyline and event quest, the current Version is on 3.6 we might get the last update for Sumeru in 3.7 along with the GAA event Rerun(Hopefully) then transition to 4.0 Fontaine for the 3rd Anniversary same like last year where they released 3.0 Sumeru

GAA doesn't feel likely as we're definitely in Inazuma for 3.7. If we get GAA, we'll likely get it in the patch before 4.0, whether that is 3.8 or 3.9. If we only get a 3.8, then 4.1 will be the 3rd anniversary update, almost matching Sumeru's 3.1 update and 2nd anniversary if we follow the 6-week update schedule.

People hate on gachas because they don't play the good ones. I had a blast playing granblue fantasy for years, back when guild wars happened monthly and I was competitive globally. It was legit the first global team based tournament pve competition game I played and probably to ever exist.

Personally, I love the gacha community. Although I don't play many gachas nowadays besides genshin and recently HSR. Priconne(rip) CB had some of my favorite team moments in gaming. Played that for one year and was consistently competing around the top 300 range. I got burnt out with the amount of maintenance that game required to and good thing since one year later Cr decided to shut the game down.

There are no good gachas. Just because some of them have plentiful of content that gives you reward doesn't mean its good. They are created that way too hook you and make you spend more money than 2 years worth of sub to FFXIV + base game.
