Hey, this is LIVE. No dubs, no backing track, no auto tune, not fixing mistakes. Now go watch the video, if you can restrain your attention-defficit long enough. 😉 More, there is an amazing modern message here. It comes across if you listen to the lyrics AND the music. I think they need every second of that 7 plus. This is a song that is fully developed, has nuance and meaning, and the music makes you FEEL it. But no, its not fast food. If you dont want those things in your music, then I can see where it might feel too long and redundant. You have to LISTEN to it to grasp it all. Only my humble opinion, of course. ✌💖&🤝. Rock on.

The comments about Josh's voice amuse and amaze me. Usualy they are made by people who do not actually understand the technique of singing but also the natural voice for an individual and in this case, a brilliantly talented individual. Some even say he sings in falsetto which is way off the mark. Josh has a great gift. Everyone also needs to focus on the band as a whole. People saying he is imitating Robert Plant do not understand - how many people can sing in that sphere? All those who want to be music 'purists' - give it a go. He sings with head voice and has both great control but also is using technique. He has a phenomemal breath control - If Elton John and Robert Plant himself have accepted them with open arms - WTF do you want...

This song, regardless of the rest of their repertoire (which is amazing), would land a spot in the best of prog-rock. 70s whatever! It's a genre. One that I was not born into the time, loved decades later as a young man, was sad it ended and the musical landscape of this continent became a desert of memories, and have tears to hear this kind of music and quality again. Chills when they hit the chorus. Haters of this band frankly cannot perceive great music. They are entombed with the saints of the past, cursing as heretics and thieves the modern prophets. This band is insanely good. Now, ten years from now, 30, they will go down as a glorious aberration that dared sing melodies some called dead, others claimed only belonged to a few chosen, but still, GVF soared.

I think it's not bad, very retro, of course, and with an almost meditative guitar play. The singer has a good voice for this type of music. I might like a little more variation in the sequence of his techniques because it is almost formulaic - sing soft, get louder, do a high pitched belt, repeat... Also, but that is really a question of personal taste now, if they had added to that "prog feeling" mentioned in the review by changing mood and tempo in the instrumental part, maybe fit a somewhat different part in, then I would have enjoyed it even more. Their first album was pretty good and I think they're on the right track finding out what they want to do while starting to do things in different ways. I'm curious where it will lead them. The potential is definitely there.
@BritPopsReact
@BritPopsReact 3 жыл бұрын
@Ulrich von Bek Thanks you for the comment and too see that you have had the pleasure of listening to the first album also, that is a bit of a drawback for us as I would like to hear more from these guys but also like to react to more from them too. The early ones we have done were very rock and this new one a bit slower and sounder more experimental, I guess it takes a band a little time to find out exactly who they are and the sound they can achieve once they are professionally recorded. Some of the comments I read about the new album were not all that positive, but they will learn from it all. This one was bit long and went on for a bit, but as I said it could be used for that mid-concert meal break!!
@ulrichvonbek1618
@ulrichvonbek1618 3 жыл бұрын
@@BritPopsReact As for the comments on the new album: I think a bit of that is generated by a) the big hype about the first album; b) the whole discussion about them as "the new Led Zeppelin" and whether that's a good or a bad thing; and c) sort of unrealistic expectations about the new album. Of course they could have come up with something really fantastic. But now they haven't, it's an okay album, I think, people can like it or find songs they like. I do also feel - like you mentioned in your reaction - they might need to get more elements in some of the songs to make them appeal to a broader and more modern oriented audience. And the album might simply be a bit too long for what they have to offer. Still, what they have to offer should be enough for them to survive both the hype and the disappointment now. "Sophomore" albums are often considered make or break - and I don't see them broken, even if they didn't make it all the way through. Personally, i'm more into third albums anyway... ;)

@Dusan Durdovic I think you may want to look a little closer, the one on the right, replying to you was born in 1965 and was alive and kicking in the 70's and had all the LZ Albums, which is why we don't really do anything from LZ as we both know them. @@BritPopsReact Good for you dude on the right, keep it up. Ok, it still means that in 79, the last year of the decade he was around 13, and in 75 he was 8. Not old enough to experience the 70's in my opinion. I don't hear led zep more than I hear the beatles and pink floyd influences. My point is a question; why talk about the influences as if it was a negative thing? In fact lets not talk about influences at all, why should we? Here we have something fresh and new and they sound frickin' awesome. 4 young kids whose music is still evolving but have shown incredible raw talent and epic skill in making their music.
