at the end of the day everyone wants to see 100mph and 500 foot homeruns... steroids saved baseball during the 90s... plus using steroids doesnt mean you gain talent, hand eye coordination, or anything else besides strength...

The current Hall Of Famers have all talked about how ashamed they were of the MLB during those times. I found it disgraceful. Yeah we love to see that stuff, but it doesn't mean anything if you cheat. That's like taking a test, but you have the textbook right in front of you. Its results that the teacher wants to see. but you cheated; its just not right.

lets all admit that we enjoyed this period in baseball. it became the popular american game it once was in the 50's. however, at the same time it was dirtier than a 2 dollar hooker passed out in a septic tank. it was wrong in so many ways, but we loved every little piece of it. thank u to all the players that sacrificed their morals and futures.
@DaffyDuck007

It was no dirtier than any other point in baseball. Plus all steroids did was keep everyone healthy. The science is definitive on this now. Steroids didn't make anyone a better hitter.

backstory to this at bat is that when barry and eric went to japan for seven-game exhibition mlb allstars vs japanese allstars i think in 2004 barry told eric next time we face each other in a game during the season that they both agreed that it would just be fastballs no breaking stuff. so its funny when eric tries to backdoor him with a breaking ball but after that its all gas and wow a great battle.

Could anyone ever comment on a Barry Bonds video without acting like a douche? It was a great AB. Every video of BB's career does not merit a new debate on steroids usage. There's still that whole baseball aspect of it to enjoy. Bonds retired almost 10 years ago, the hating has gotten pretty old and pretty predictable.

Eric Gagné is from my hometown near montreal. He said to Barry Bond in the last allstar game or in the offseason I can't remember that if he has to face him in a game he will trow him fastball coz Bond was telling him that everybody was too scared of him to do that. So thats why he pitched like 4 consecutive 100+fastball to him and Bond was just better and won the lil contest. He later thanks Gagné for this awesome "fight". Btw back in the day I was 12y old and Gagné was a total hero here haha and the expos were still around, i miss them a lot.

I will always remember this at bat. It's one of the only times they pitched to Bonds in that era. He wasn't tying or go-ahead run so they had to pitch to him. I believe the Dodgers held on to win 3-2.

I had been waiting for someone to put this on here! I remember watching this live back in 2004 (I think) late one night back in Ohio. I was watching this and couldn't believe how it turned out. A McCovey Cove foul ball followed by a BOMB against a 100 MPH Gagne FB. Gotta give credit to both these guys.

When Bonds fouled that 2-2 fastball into the water, Gagne should have thought off-speed away. He must have thought he was Rick Vaughn in Major League to keep challenging with fastballs.

+syLagia Le Barry Bonds was a legit HOFer BEFORE he started to bulk up (roids or no roids we don't know). Power is one thing, but combine bat speed, discipline, hand eye coordination and approach? Unbeatable.....damn he pulled a 101mph FB FOUL!!!! Unreal. Hope he can pass on that magic to the Marlins.

Gagne wrote 80% of the Dodgers were using some sort of PED, I'd believe the rest of the league was around that percentage
@Palrath1
@Palrath1 8 жыл бұрын
whenever there is an all time great using some sort of PED, ALL of the attention and punishment (media bashing, hate from fans, bans, fines) lands on the best of the best, it doesn't matter how many people were on. Look at Lance Armstrong, he didn't even test positive, he just admitted. I wonder how many guys were actually doing the exact same thing he was doing. No one will no because the sport tries to save itself by putting all of the blame on one guy. If everyone finds out that a majority of the league or the top 50 athletes are using then everyone will just say "it's a league full of cheaters!" Hank Aaron used Amphetamines Babe Ruth used a modded bat. I honestly am for professionals using PED's and steroids. Why? Because I want to see the best of the very best play at a super human level. Do they increase your talent? no they don't. Steroids don't help you hit the ball at all, they can help you hit the ball further but they won't turn an average joe into a superstar silver slugger.
