This is a good rewrite and a lot more balanced in its joining. I always thought it was stupid that you got almost all of Hoshido before you got 5 units from Nohr. I think that this is generally a lot better. Good job.

Once again you've done a great job with this rewrite. I felt the story was a lot more focused this time around compare to your rewrite of conquest and birthright, and the story itself was very interesting, I like how it really look the time for Corrin to bring everyone together and see all the chaos that the war had caused. If I have to point out one issues, it's do with the editing, since I felt a good number of times the text wasn't on screen long enough and I kept having to go back and pause the video just to read it, so it kind of felt a bit jumbled at times and there was some stuttering with the audio and stuff. Aside from that great job you really did well with this series of videos, and it's nice to see that you've regained faith in fire emblem again after the announcement of echoes (at this point I fell like i'm the 0.01% of people who didn't think Fates was the worst thing in the world).

thank you man. glad you enjoyed this series as much as I do. the text is mostly just for flavour. read it if you want a good laugh, otherwise, it's not too important. if it is any sort of important (like me covering up my lore mistake during the valla chapters) it'll usually be given it's due time. and sorry about me stuttering, though, compared to my older stuff, this is seamless. and i didn't hate fates, conquest's gameplay was stellar and some of the characters (Xander, Ryoma, Leo, Takumi, Oboro, Kagero and Charlotte [Charlotte is in my opinion the only "gimmick" character the newer games have gotten right]) and the maps (conquest 10, revelations 17, chapter 3, takumi's wall chapter in conquest) were all pretty great. fates's story was what i disliked, and what made me wary for the future, all the pointless awakening pandering, literally everything pertaining to Corrin. and the shit villains are what made me worried, given how we're 2 for 2 on weak stories in what, at least i think is a story driven game. nonetheless i'm glad you enjoyed this series man, overall i'd have to say that the conquest rewrite is still the best video i've ever made, with the sacred stones review in second, and the revelations/birthright rewrites tied in third.

IMO Conquest is the only one of the 3 whose story is really potent. IMO Garon is actually a kinda good villian in Conquest (Hans and Iago are alot better though, Takumi is still hands-down the best villian in Conquest though). I honestly think your video fixing its story, Zerk, made it that much better.

here's a couple questions I seem to be getting: Gunter will be hired during one of the Valla chapters, I didn't include him because I felt setting up Valla was more important. likewise, I decided to let the Xander/Hinoka subplot take a back seat this time, given how neither of them have as major a role in Revelation, and the fact that this is the only instance where they can support, I decided to expand on some other elements this time around.

Much better I was going to wonder how you were going to find away to explain Corrin's dragon abilities. As for what I would add. Oboro the cleistal dragon that Lilith refers to one time twords the beginning of the game which she would be his daughter instead of Anarkos's and by extent Corrin's sister -_- but he would be a. Being who helped the Rainbow Sage make the Yato and also it would be he instead who would ask of the 3 heroes of awakening that show up in the game for their help telling them that a someone is trying to unseal a Fiend similar to the beast they knew as Grima from their seal and that one of the keys to that seal is a young boy named Corrin that they must protect at all costs and would also give Lilith the same mission

I also think it would be better to actually have the game end this path with the relationship between Xander and Hinoka result in a marriage between the two with both kingdoms coming together to Celebrate the wedding and Corrin looking onward at the entire celebration with Azura asking if this is what he fought for and he responds with all this and more! Well then lets go and just as you said Azura drawing Corrin off on their next adventure!

I must be the only one here that thought Revelation's story was alright. It was pleasing to see the two sides join forces and fight together and the character of Anankos was pretty decent. Revelations had to remove the Anthony traitor subplot, Scarlet's death which means no Gunter betrayal(this is the happy route so I honestly think no one should die) and add a possessed King Garon battle (maybe with his undead commanders Iago and Hans). Less Arete battles. Maybe throw in Anankos' human form in there to meet Corrin when he arrives in Valla. Playable unit Anankos?! Then Severa, Owain and Inigo would guide the party through Valla until they get to the throne and fight. I wasn't really into the idea of an ultimately evil villain (I liked that they didn't make Anankos in revelations totally evil) but you made a good rewrite of Revelations.

Actually, with your comment, I think that might be another thing that Fates did wrong: the lack of tension. When you have to script deaths in a game that should already be tense with your units possibly dying from your own mistakes, that may say a lot about the game itself. But personally, I still enjoyed the game, so this comment's more for the critiquing part of it

I know it's been a whole hot minute since this was uploaded, but this is fantastic! I'm making my own rewrite/AU of Revelations and I literally can't get over how much I love this. One of my absolute favorite things you put in this rewrite has to be, hands down, Xander SEEING what Garon has sort of turned into because of the corruption of Anankos' soul since, well, that doesn't really even get to happen in the original Revelations, which is one of a good handful of things that was upsetting to me personally. Also, thank you for actually giving the continent a name since the devs were too lazy to do it themselves.

Making Kotaro more important makes sense, seeing as he's the only really villainous Hoshido-based character in the story. And I presume Yukimura actually joins this time around? And I do really like the twist at the end with the main villain. That said, what happened to Gunter? He actually had some storyline importance in Revelation, and yet here you didn't mention him once. I kinda liked having the traditional Crutch Character back.

Well, I oughta give my two cents here now. This was well done, though I guess you have a lot of anger towards Revelations if that distorted and depressed voice meant anything in the beginning. Not that I blame you, with how underwhelming Revelations was, despite being the true route in the game. Honestly, one of the biggest issue when it came to choices was that either side gets a fair share of choices. The chapters we went through made me think like Birthright was the one and only path to take, which is wrong. It should all be even, Conquest too. But if we could have had more signs that both Birthright and Conquest had their reasons, we could have done more. By having an imbalance of morality, it was just done wrong. Then it would have been something if we chose Revelations, like give a hint or something towards Revelations that there is a true path there. Also, something I noticed in the video is that you are more focusing on the Nohr siblings play a bigger role: - Xander and Camilla's discussion. - Leo being the Rainbow Sage's apprentice. - Nohrian royals joining in mostly before the others. - Xander being the last to be convinced. I feel like you should have had the Hoshidan family a bit more plot involved, and no, Hinoka/Xander OTP does not completely count. Well, least you had Sakura mention the crown, though its small, and Ryoma is even more stupid to fall for the lie Kotaro sprung, and really not going into depth about Mikoto's death here or Takumi and Ryoma's reaction. Like the morality, keep things balanced. Another thing I noticed is that you pretty much Corrin just sat back and let the two armies fight and slaughter one another. I feel that pretty much contradicts things for what Corrin wanted. The point is to avoid having the two nations destroy each other. I feel like there are many tactics that could be applied where Corrin could actually try and convince both sides to not get into a bloody massacre. However, if he cannot stop the war, then really what he needs to see is to decide to understand the bigger situation which could have been hinted at earlier. So when they get to the Rainbow Sage and learn about the disaster approaching (and I guess you cut out Izumo cause you found the death fortune thing bullshit as well) and plan their next course of action, which I am assuming might be the case on what you are doing here. So let me get the story of Anankos back then straight. it was not actually 5 heroes that defeated Anankos, but 6 with the Rainbow Sage being the 6th Power Ranger (yeah I went there. *shades on* Deal with it). So when Anankos was defeated, his body was defeated and his soul was sealed away (wait, where have I heard this?), but the malice within his sealed soul was too great and thus the Soul Jar that held his soul was remade into four items, the crowns from Birthright and Conquest, Azura's pendent, and a mirror that is mentioned here and now. And the Vallites are soldiers that served Valla and are now shadows consumed by Anankos' arcane powers. And the crowns were given to the royal family of each side, but they were safe before because the malice in them were weak, but not anymore. Sure, that's good. Iago's role... was not what I was hoping for. I was expecting something like how he was a servant of Anankos/corrupted Valla in actuality and had a bigger role to play. Plus I still never got why he killed Sumeragi and gave Corrin to Garon. So they enter Valla, or the Astral Plane here I guess, and meet Anankos, I mean Valla. Shit, I'm confusing names here. DX So the Astral Plane holds other dragons, and likely degraded into madness or something. Hold on. You turned the soulless body of a dragon into a woman? Like how? That sort of makes no sense. How'd you even know if Anankos was a chick? Valla, baby, no. Well, least you made a good explanation on why Corrin can become a dragon, as it does skip every few generations. And Valla is now insane having grown to love dragons far too much. Well, he banged his dragon wife a bunch of times to have lots of kids that went... somewhere. Also, how does he break the seal? Corrin destroyed the Hoshidan crown. Or do you mean to say that that also counts as breaking the seal? So the final Anankos is Valla merging with Anankos' soul after breaking the seal, and the body of a lesser dragon. But wait, destroying him here sends them out of the Astral Plane? Wait, which home? Azura and Corrin don't have a Valla home to live in here. XD Gotta pick between Hoshido and Nohr again.

two cents? axis, this is more like $1.75 not sure if you're referring to my rewrite or the actual game. understandable, i just happen to like the Nohr royals a bit better. and i always say it, this is a chapter by chapter synopsis, not the full event scripture, obviously things like ryoma and takumi's reaction to their mother's death would carry more of a focus if this was the actual game. less of him sitting back and more coming to grips with how one person's actions against two military superpowers means nothing. sacred stones references FTW. and yeah, the further apart each piece is, the less strength the soul of Anankos has. I always imagined Iago to be an unaffiliated party, in it for his own gains. he kidnapped corrin because it gets him good favour with the king, I imagine while talking with Kotaro he might divulge how he's trying to infiltrate garon's court and eventually amassing enough power to allow Cheve to usurp Nohr. it was just a way to contain the body, i assume it wouldn't be to hard for the rainbow sage, after all, he is the sixth power ranger, and they're always the strongest. not to mention the body was soulless, they could've turned it into a wyvern if they wanted to. and, when corrin destroyed the hoshidan crown with the yato, (another scale) it transferred the hoshidan part of the soul into the Yato. and he kinda just explodes, possibly sealed again within the perfect yato. or saitama. good point. i hope you enjoyed it anyways though man!

Well, that's how much I spend when buying lemonade bottles in the vending machine. And I love lemonade. Plus, I was drinking lemonade when doing this, so here's some lemonade for you. XP Oh, the beginning parts were more to the actual game. Not what you had. I do no blame you. The sad thing was that while Conquest was being made to be the "bad guys", the Nohrian royals were in fact the more well developed characters, with Takumi being the best in Hoshido and Ryoma being sort of okay in a sense, but the latter fails if we cannot even get more depth in his character. Unless you're Ephraim. Okay, I'm sorry, will stop there so I don't offend you. But Corrin being a bit more realistic would be good. Him acknowledging his flaws more and learning from others would help develop him into a more powerful leader for the group. Ah, so Iago is the bad guy for the sake of being bad. There's nothing wrong with that. Seriously, if every bad guy was redeeming or sympathetic, I'd feel bad killing them in the end. Like with Lyon. But if I can kill someone like Hilda from FE4, or Hans and Iago, then yeah, its just satisfying. CHOKE ON MY VENGEANCE!!! Oh good, you joined me in there with the 6th Ranger. *gives him some shades* Well, that's a bit disturbing that he was banging a soulless humanoid dragon, but you know what, we could say that there was some new soul that formed inside because of love and such, so its good. Okay, so the Yato became the holder of the malice after. And then Anankos and Valla die for good, and the heroes reflect how the love one felt towards dragons could corrupt their souls into something so twisted. So the true path of revelations... just ends with them having to choose where to go yet again. XD Irony. XD Oh I most certainly did. Good job.

This is.... You did it again! I don't know how, but you did!! This was honestly how Revelations should've gone--with hints and puzzle pieces from both sides of the story fitting together and coming to light in the third path. Corrin's overhaul in character and motivations was incredible, you actually made them a character that made sense and didn't seem to just be there as a bad self-insert. And the ways that all of the characters joined in was SO. MUCH. BETTER. My personal favorite was Leo being the apprentice of the Rainbow Sage--it makes so much sense for him as a character. I just wonder at Lilith in your versions. Does she just not exist? I think that would actually work really well. Apparently DLC reveals that Lilith is also a child of Anankos, making her Corrin's biological sister (but honestly that is the most shoehorned thing ever, it just feels like it was trying to add more emotional depth to her)??? Idk.

Alrighty, I've commented on the last two, so I might as well complete th set and give my thoughts on this one too! This one version of the story is probably the biggest step up from the story it was based on. It does a lot of things really well, and there is only one major question I have with it. That question is why they made the scales into crowns, rather than something someone would not wear. Additionally, wouldn't it have been better to try to send all of the pieces as far apart as possible? Some minor thoughts: Felicia seems to be acting out of character when you describe her reaction after chapter 6. While I see why you kept Mikoto in, I still think it might have been better to kill her off earlier, for the sake of Conquest's story. How exactly did the kingdom of Valla disappear from the surface? Otherwise,this has been a really great series. Revelations actually does answera lot of the questions I had when I saw your rewrites of Conquest and Birthright, which means it achieved what the original story set out to do. I think all of these rewrtites would be a massive improvement for Fate's story, because it does a lot more with less random plot elements which the main game of fates relied on so heavily. Keep up the good work, and hype for Shadows of Valentia.

Draco Blackstone yep. glad you liked it man. crowns were chosen because FE plot, Stones would have been too obvious, and a Shield/Pendant/Sword are already used. I had to come up with something. although, I like to think it was crowns because they are easy to conceal and seem unassuming to would be robbers, given that, the well known legend kinda renders that mute. so, the kingdom of valla never exsited in my timeline, Valla is a person, not a place. therefore, it never sunk. the player's ended up in an astral plane, a realm of dragons, where the hero valla departed to find the origins of Anankos. glad you enjoyed all three rewrites, they are certainly some of my favorite videos I've ever made. I'm looking forward to Shadows of Valentia too man.

I love your rewrite of Rev but one thing I think I would do with the Leo being the rainbow sages apprentice thing is with all three routes have him storywise actually been apart from the others for the longest. Maybe establish that the rainbow sage came looking for an apprentice long ago and Leo, wanting to stand out, offered. This being like a decade or so just to be more concise. Just an idea.

Kinda disappointed in myself that I just found this as someone who is also writing up a rewrite of Fates' Plot. But one thing stuck out to me... WHERE IS ANTHONY!? U SAID YOU WOULDNT REMOVE ANY IMPORTANT CHARACTERS!!!!!1!!!!!!111!! Joking aside, your fixed versions of the plots of this disgustingly enjoyable trio of games is very well done. Am I the only one who actually liked Revelation? I thought Birthright and Conquest were alright at best, but I actively enjoyed Revelation the whole way through... It certainly wasn't perfect, and it was cringey at points (*cough* Anthony *cough*), but I enjoyed it for what it was! I will say this rewrite was a lot better, though!

I like this version of Rev. makes it look more alive and we visit more places then in the origianal Rev. there it feels like we are visting only 3 places and then the game goes"TIME TO GO TO VALLA BOIS". Personally, the way I'd fix Fates's story would be to get rid of Valla. In my opinion, Valla and Anankos ruined Fates's story. I mean, it's not like it's impossible to fix it like that, but... *sigh* i have a question for anyone who's reading this: did you like the idea of a 3rd kingdom being responsible for the war? I didn't. The original idea of Fates's story was so much better and had a lot charm in my opinion. There was no invisible kingdom and dragon, it was a conflict between people and that was it. Without Anankos, Garon wouldn't have been possessed and actually be a sympathetic villain. Because of this, Xander's dedication towards him would actually make sense. Without Anankos, Azura wouldn't have no reason to be all mysterious and "oh, I can't talk about anything because of a curse". Without Anankos, Camilla, Iago and Hans's character would be... Ok, maybe not EVERYTHING would be fixed, but still! I don't know how a 3rd path would be handled if this was the case though.

Its a good story, tho personally i would have done 4th route which derives from the 3rd route, that i can say resembles StarFox 64's easy ending where you fail to kill the true Anankos because the player doesn't know what he killed was just a fake, something like that. make some prerequisites to get the true path, maybe add some fan service again for the Awakening fans, bring the rest of the Awakening children as emergency backup via Lilith channeling Naga, umm thatd be a prerequisite itself to get true path, when the missing children arrive, you'll have to play only as them for a few subchapters trying to catch up to corrin and co, few subchapters in they should be caught up to corrin's party lvl range, idk add some more Awakening cheese cause fanservice sells lol, have Lucina cast the Awakening rite not to seal sleep but to break the seal of that fake reality, have the true end game boss break from the seal and out of the canyon, have a metroid escapesic chapter, then kill True final boss, which will be YHWH Lvl balls hard, thats pretty much it oh and if Scarlet is gonna die like in the main game, make it optional to save her but at the cost the next chapter will be protecting a heavily wounded Corrin from a hoard of bad guys like chapter 10 conquest but more insane. xD

No offense, but I'm going to have to disagree. Awakening pandering is perhaps the thing I despise most about Fates. SS never needed to include a renamed Lyn. So why should fates be any different? It's a lose-lose scenario. And as a fan of the older games I am flat out tired of the new characters being EVERYWHERE. Sorry, went on a tangent there. I know you mean well, but the two of us clearly have differing opinions on how this should work. I do however, hope for the return of proper gaiden chapters á La FE7.

ZerkMonsterHunter 4 Not really Fates is mostly Awakening pandering lol, i just want to make a better story out of it but at its core, gameplay, supports, child system, its all Awakening pandering, plus i feel they could actually expand on the personality the children that Awakening kinda skimmed thru. lol one shouldn't take it too much to heart, just how Awakening tried to connect itself with FE7 by Lyn recognizing Robin as Mark alike and in the Japanese game Morgan is named Marks or Mark i forgot, as much as you hate fan pandering, its sadly the only reason FE even exists, i dont like it that much but i prefer nicely written pander over no game at all. ^^

The issue is that pandering on the scale you describe does hurt the narrative, and only awakening players would ever get any sort of enjoyment out of that. Robin being a reincarnation of Mark is a cool nod, taking a whole character and hitting control-v is not good writing. And introducing 15+ characters in the span of 1 hour of gameplay is absolutely ludicrous.

So I listened to the rewrites, and let's start by saying they for the most part make sense. More sense than Fates did, and more traditionally Fire Emblem-y than Fates was (which is neither a bad or good thing). That being said, while I understand why these weren't completely chapter-by-chapter, it really didn't serve them too well at times. Most notably, and this is why I'm replying on this one, Revelations feels like it falls apart near the end. You drop Valla being alive on the player, seemingly closely followed by another plot twist, THEN followed by a fusion dance that sounds outlandish enough to be part of the original Fates, at least the way you make it sound. That seems like a lot. Again, because I have no sense how it's paced, or if there's enough game to do all the things you want. Something that chapter-by-chapter won't fix is Anankos. On one hand, I get you want him to take a back seat. Before I get to the other hand, it might be good for me to note that while I haven't gotten to Revelations yet, I have done my research and heard enough about it. And what from what I know, Anankos is actually the best (or only good) villain in Fates. There's no competition even if Anankos was a mess, true, but the dragon is literally the very reason Garon is as bland as he is. So drastically rewriting one of the better villains of Fates I feel isn't a particularly good idea for a start. But that's a somewhat personal thing. What else I have come to realize as I'm writing this is that no one is filling the void left by original Anankos. I struggle to count Valla as him being alive seems to come late and out of nowhere. Outside of Iago and Hans (who don't seem to be particularly high on the villainous food chain in the rewrite), there are barely any villains at all that aren't just corrupted by the crowns. And the crown corruptions are more accidents than anything because Anankos is taking such a back seat (and the final boss is Valla instead). Long story short, I'm missing the main villain, on the levels of Gharnef, Nergal, Lyon, Lekain, et cetera. Nonetheless, I can't really complain. This is still pretty freaking good, and above all else it is good to see fans try and follow a creator's process. That is the key to truly understanding what the franchise can do or would do well to avoid. At the same time, I'm curious what new paths you think the franchise could take. Let's be honest, it's gotta do that sooner or later. Maybe have a lord that the player might see become his continent's "Gharnef", so to speak (or not in a truer ending)?

We seem to agree on which of the rewrites is the best/worst, as I consider the Conquest one to be almost spotless. As for the thoughts, I'll be sure to check those vids (and already did some), even if it may be at my own peril in some cases. "4 Reasons why Fire Emblem Echoes Makes Us Hopeful" even happens to display the exact attitude many veterans have that I have grown to be extremely weary of. Still, if it means seeing actual thought being put in the future of the franchise for a change, I'll go for it.
