ZERMATT TRAGEDY: RELENTLESS LANDSLIDES LEAVE SWISS TOWN IN RUINS

In Switzerland, intense storms have caused several rivers to burst their banks, leading to the evacuation of more than 230 people in the cantons of Valais and Graubünden. The resort town of Zermatt has been cut off, with no access by train or road. In the canton of Graubünden, four people were buried, with one rescued alive and three still missing. Authorities have warned people to avoid flooded areas and have banned walks along the banks of the Rhône. The highest alert level has been issued for parts of Lake Constance.

Hierzu sei gesagt: 1. Zermatt ist keine Stadt, sondern ein Dorf. 2. Mitnichten liegt Zermatt in Trümmern; zufolge des Hochwassers ist dort nicht einmal ein Haus eingestürzt: Nach dem Wegräumen all des Schutts nimmt dort alles wieder seinen gewohnten Gang.
