I witnessed so many Canadians, and Canadian Jews, where I lived for almost 2 decades, going from ignorance, even pro-Israeli to opposite opinions about the Israel/Palestine issue through his work. One should.rememener that when Chomsky was raising the issue he was for decades extremely isolated but he never gave up. He was from the first western/American voices talking about Palestine. Today, there are many impressive historians and activists out there, most of them learned a lot from Chomsky. We owe so much to this exceptional man!

He was arrested at a few protests, but he wasn't tortured or detained long. He never worked in a prison or psychiatric hospital or on the street.
