Your nasi padang is basically nasi ambeng already with all those dishes. 😆 Crazy! Regarding the salted egg, usually eat together with the rice and other savoury dishes to balance out the taste. And yes, you can use your left hand to help tear the chicken apart like how we use both hands to peel the prawns at times. But you have to use your right hand to feed your mouth.

It's impossible to confuse between nasi ambeng and nasi padang. Nasi ambeng usually consists of meat like beef/chicken, 1 veggie, fermented soy bean and accompanied by noodles. Nasi padang doesn't have noodles. It's like Nasi campur or the Chinese version of mixed rice where you have dozens of side dishes.
