the motor tend to over heat when i yanked hard on my 2014 SR so i mounted a usb box fan by the motor for active cooling and it help a lot.

As a Zero owner this is disappointing. I can imagine that board meeting- CEO”let’s make something different…let’s paint them in another color” everyone: “yeaaaaaah” CEO”let’s head to happy hour now”.

Unfortunately they are sticking with a voltage that won’t work with rapid DC charging, very disappointing.

@@mmistermusic running at 200+ voltage battery pack is simpler, a Dc to Dc would need to be big whereas a Dc rapid charging module is half the size of the current 6.6 ac unit. Unfortunately they don’t seem to be developing their battery packs not to mention the crazy 2014 price they still charge for charger and battery upgrades. £3055 plus install for a 3kwh battery is just crazy when I can build that for under £450 and £2585 for a 6kw ac charger I can buy for £500ish new from the same manufacture! Even their main battery pack will be under £2,000 to manufacture now and the motor/controller under £500 (Tesla main drive unit, that’s motor, controller and reduction drive) is under $1,000 to manufacture now.

@@alankemp1970 Yes but that would require them to redesign the battery, bms, controller and motor. They would have to start from scratch. I agree with you about the pricing. +3000 euro for an extra charger is insane. I have a zero DS. I will keep on riding it until there is bike for +-18000 euro that includes a DC charger. For me the battery does not need to be bigger. 14.4kwh is fine. That is 150-250 km of riding. 2 to 3 hours of Riding. That is enough. I just want to be able to charge 0 to 80 % in 30min. I will not upgrade for less.

@@mmistermusic same here, faster charging is much more beneficial than extra range. I’ve been driving 100% electric for over 10 years and the biggest improvement (UK and Europe) is rapid Dc charging, 140kw with my MG4 means a 15 minute toilet comfort break adds 120 miles, and most the time I’m just topping up a bit before needing to stop at my usual rest points on longer trips. The motor will be fine with more voltage and the controller is not a big problem, only 60-80v increase. I’m about to start a winter motorcycle project converting to electric ⚡️. I was tempted to buy a used Zero to modify, see how it goes 😊 Hopefully they read the comments 🙃

Yeah, an underpowered SR/F or DSR/X don’t seem appropriate. The chassis are too big! Unless I’m missing something and they made them narrower.
