I rode one of these today with a group of buells on pavement.. and at no point did I feel like they could get near me.. these zero motorcycles are absolutely incredible and exhilarating and not crazy overpriced and quite enticing.. So much fun, so much power, so much time wasted to charge them 🤘😜👍

Bullshit!! The design and engineering is part of the mission statement how this Zero model FXE has absolutely zero fast charging ability as it comes from the factory. In fact the exact same 110Volt charging cord came with my Commodore, 64 in 1984. Don’t believe me look it up! that means in today’s world hell the world even 10 years ago it would be impossible to ride this motorcycle anywhere on this earth unless you plan on charging it back at your house. See charging unit stop adding in 110 V to go with your level two charting availability years ago. Enough time that even our slow ass government agencies have updated their ancient charging stations. Yet for some reason, zero was there leading designs and engineering with the bike of the future will only be powered from the outdated technology of the pas: OK OK why am I coming down so hard and then you ask if it was a toy and a child use it after their house with no responsibility attached fine but this is a $12,500 machine and after taxes and fees $14,500 and did not include a charger. In fact, they charge you an extra $800 is rounded up to 1000 with tax for level two charger at another $1000! to double the rate. Which OK if you had nine hours to wait for your vehicle to charge up in 2024 you’re not making enough money to afford this bike people make that type of money do not have time like nine hours to wait for their bike to recharge besides it’s illegal most parking places if you could even find one with the charging thing would take you out before then and $16,000 close to 16 five with with taxes and an electric cord needed above that is far above the the cost of the best super Moto in the world such a Ducati KTM in Husqvarna in less a few thousand more. I think something should be said about a bite that’s produced overseas yet! Crafted in California” Which is some slick, marketing, to make customer think that was produced in United States or California, when it designed your. But produce somewhere in the Philippines, or in Asia, which were living lives in Santa Cruz, California where their base I don’t know I’m starting to think I should’ve gotten a Sirron who doesn’t have any marketing or slick, packaging to make you think you’re buying it the future, in our straight up about being from China is the batteries that they use was smart they would promote that part of their bike because that is the one thing that is valued and the technology is needed the most yet meanwhille the company from China strictly only uses Panasonic aA grade li😅n cells the same as Tesla. And zero use a brand from south korrea that might be a good battery. But who wants to pay $16,000 to find out. Idk good thing I only paid 6.5k for my FXE with oqjsnj60mikes . Otherwise I’d have to be from the cities from where zero - dealerships. To afford buying one. Maybe I can find an off brand charger that doesn’t cost $799

Zero Motorcycles are already expensive. I'm not going to pay extra to use hardware that is already on the bike. If I'm not using it, I want it removed.

The bike price is $20K+, drop the price by $13K and you would have people on the wait list for months trying to get a bike. Right now the price of your bikes are too high. The problem with Zero and their marketing is that they have not done enough to make buyers believe that their electric motorcycles are better overall than their ice counterparts. Most of us are all for saving the environment, but feel that we shouldn't have to spend an arm and leg to do it. You need new riders and old riders to want your bikes. The price point is out of reach for 95% of the people you are trying to market to. Your cheapest bike should be in line with CBr300, KTM390 etc.

I ride an r1250gs as a daily driver. The zero appeals to me, as its quiet, and range is enough for single day use off road.

Hi @cblackmountain8441, one of the best things about any Zero motorcycle is there are significantly less moving parts than their gas-powered counterparts, and thus, much less maintenance required. Parts can easily be ordered from any authorized Zero dealer and ship from our facilities either here in California or the Netherlands.

So just to be clear, what (if anything) is behind a paywall? In previous years you had to spend a lot of $$$s in an app store, to unlock features that were already pre-installed on the bike. If you're still pulling EA Games style BS like that, I'm not interested. If you've stopped that scummy practice, we can talk.

The one thing i really like is how they set 100% at 80+/-% which allows for faster dayto day charging, better long term batery health and then the ,extra for long trips. Cars shouod also have that as a standard.

Hi @geemy9675, fast charging can be found all over the place! Google Maps or Plugshare are both great app options for finding Level 2 charging stations on the go, you'll just want to filter by looking for chargers that are J-1772 port compatible.

@@zeromotorcycles I mean ACTUAL fast charging (DC) you need to find a solution. I understand most DC fast chargers don't work under 200V and you have already talked about ~100V being a better compromise for efficiency in motorcycles, but I think proper DC fast charging like 0-80 in 30min or less with no need for onboard charger is needed and way more important than a few % efficiency gain. get creative! the next Macan EV is able to DC fast charge natively on 400V AND 800V without need for a step up converter, just by changing the serial configuration. if a 200V architecture is not possible make your batteries two 100V modules wired on parallel (100V) for riding and serial (200V) for charging.. eMotorcycles won't get past the commuter market without fast charging. you motorcycles are too expensive for commuters and too limited in range AND charging speed. improving the charging speed is low hanging fruits that would make the range more livable - doubling battery capacity is not possible with current battery tech and maintenaining a ridable weight - halving drag coefficient is also an interesting thing to research but requires massive changes in motorcycle design like full fairing (and I mean FULL),radical changes to the riding position. it's not happening soon in a production motorcycle. - doubling (or even better) the charging speed is easy in comparison. and no, adding even more onboard level 2 chargers is not the answer. most L2 chargers are limited to ~6.6kW so your 17kWh battery actually takes 3h to "fast charge" L2 anyway

I am looking at a ex demo or pre reg here in uk at around £8k but do not even know what the top speed is or how much it might cost to unlock the power for a full licence which i have. Ive never even considered any sort of motorcycle before im very new to the motorcycle community but ive looking at live wire bikes lately but that may fall short of my needs however the zero sr/f may definitely be a option might need abit extra saving up this is definitely on my list only slight negative is my nearest dealer is Nottingham which is a fair distance from Yorkshire

I now have over 8,500 miles on my 2023 DSR/X. Mostly off road riding and I am absolutely loving this bike! Getting around 150 miles per charge riding slower off-road tracks and back roads.

Chinese are no long en route but are here as suddenly is all of Europe so brutally competitve market quite suddenly to include hydrids from Kawasaki now. Great job working with Polaris tho! Expecting great things for Model Year 2025 this Fall. Huge fan of having reverse in a motorcycle so Honda better keep their eyes on the hybrid models which i have no doubt will offer that.

I agree with what others are saying. Zero, you need to pay attention! I test rode a zero today, loved the ride, ready to buy, then the dealer explained the 'upgrades'. This is the most transparent manufacturer profiteering scam I have come across yet. This isn't a 'tune', it's just switchable software limiting what the bike already has, it's legal ransom ware! I am appalled at the level Zero has gone to in this area. If it was the accountants or marketing department that came up with this, they are losing Zero money, not making more, I am sure of that. From my own experience I walked. I can't condone or buy into this behaviour and I have no doubt others have done the same. It costs Zero - ZERO to release the bike from its software limited shackles, this is an unjustifyable and dispicable practise. As said I was sold after the ride, great job with that, but walked because of the ransom upsells. Zero are actually being spiteful to their own customers - that's not going to work. We see through your thinly veiled sales speak. Also, paying for 10% faster charging on a charge system that takes 4 hours to get to 95% doth butter no muffins! Why on earth did Zero make the charging so slow when it is capable of going way faster?! This means you can't ride with friends, they aren't going to want to stand about for 4 hours after a few miles spirited riding and neither would I. If it could take the full 7.4 Kwh of a single phase in the UK, it would be less than half the charge time. That's the standard speed, not fast! Type 2, not CCS - basic bog standard. I am an early adopter of electric cars, I strongly believe they are better than liquid fuel. Zero have made bikes that are ready to take over the bike sector, then they put software on to reverse that - what short sited and self destructive madness! Well done Zero for making a superb bike, and shame on you for ruining it!

the motor tend to over heat when i yanked hard on my 2014 SR so i mounted a usb box fan by the motor for active cooling and it help a lot.

You know what would be really exciting for Zero to announce? That they've created retro-fit charge tanks for all Zero models - THAT ALLOW DC fast charging... You know, so we could ride our hour at 70mph, then charge for 15-20 minutes, then ride another hour - repeat... THAT would be exciting...
