Zero to Hero - Fly Fishing the Middle Texas Coast for Redfish on a Solo Skiff Kayak

I spent the weekend chasing hundreds of tailing redfish with a fly rod on the middle Texas coast, all from a Solo Skiff. The redfish were super picky, but I figured it out after a few fly changes.

I’ll start out by saying It is super tough to fly fish and pole yourself. I store the push pole between my legs, in my left hand, or in my armpit when I see a fish. It just depends on where the fish and my push pole is, and where the wind and current are pushing me. It is very difficult, but when everything connects it is art!

I use 8wt. My favorite is the rod I built. It’s the native blank from mudhole custom tackle. My second favorite is the TFO Axiom II
