Christine's Home Affairs

Күн бұрын

My mission today is to not waste leftover fabric pieces from previous bags. This project has 56 small pieces of fabric left over from the corners of several boxed bags that I've been working on recently that were also rescued fabric pieces headed to landfil.
Come and join me whilst I figure out how I'm going to use up all these scraps that would usually end up in the waste stream.

This bag is a show piece. If you decide to sell it, I suggest prominently displaying it with your other bags with a sign on it that says "For display only, not for sale." Someone will want it then for sure and at your price.

Haha, I love that idea😀

agree with MiLittleCorner. 25+ years ago I made a vest for me for the upcoming holidays. I did not want to sell it so much as take orders for similar holiday vests. My Mother suggested I put a price of $200. and hang it up in my shop space. I did with a sign saying for displays and pre orders for Christmas. 3 days later my mom was speaking to the shop owner when the gal said she had sold the display vest, The owner was dismayed because she hadn't known the sign was for a priced item. lol

Beautiful outcome! I really love it. I've received many small square leather samples that have intimidated me because I worried so much about the seam thickness. This is a wonderful option for remedying that. I would try $75 -$100 AUD for your beautiful bag. Hugs from Nevada, Cathy❤

Great looking bag in the end Christine😍 I felt your pain when you first started sewing 🤐 I was thinking: I'd place all the pieces on a thin foundation fabric, maybe with a dab of fabric glue to keep in place, then sew down all the edges, then finishing off with long strips of binding/ribbon. I've seen a tut in the past that did something like that. Well done - you got there in the end. Your bag is priceless 😇
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Lesley. I thought about the foundation fabric, and figured with the pelon to the back already, that it was enough, but probably should have used another stabiliser too. Next time maybe😁

Terrific tote! It's a custom Christine design. I say 120. I recognized the lining from the estate sale 👍and having your label on too. In your drop down you have peltex listed as the interfacing. Is that what you used here? Also your tweezers look sturdy, sewing or make up ones? Super video tyfs🙏😊👍🩷

Thanks Jayne. The Peltex was an error. I used fusible fleece on the previous bags, but would use Peltex if making from scratch to make it more rigid. The tweezers are sewing tweezers. They came with the machine😀
