I always put "used up" lemons (or lemon rinds) in a bag in the freezer to later use for cleaning. If I have organic lemons, I grate the rinds first and also freeze those to use in baking. My lemons get used 3-fold- first in tea or cooking, rind in baking, and what's left for cleaning ( and then they go in the compost)

I am going to try these. But Im rinsing off my lemon peels and putting them in a jar of Vinegar to steep for 3 months. This makes a wonderfull household cleaner. Ive used lemon and orange vinegar now for 4 months and haven't looked back. It lifts all kinds of mess and leaves no steaks on the glass surfaces. Don't have to worry about wearing gloves or harsh chemical smells. 😃😃

I've just done the salt and lemon oven door cleaner and I couldn't be happier!! It took some elbow grease as it's been a while and it was pretty heavy muck but it's so much better now, and no nasty chemicals used!! I'm soooooo chuffed!!! Xxx

I use vinegar mixed with dish soap for grease and the bathtub. I don't know how environmentally friendly it is but it cuts through everything

1. Stainless steel sink: start with baking soda and rub it all over the sink with half a lemon rinse down with water and cloth 2. Hob and oven doors: Salt and lemon juice, let it soak for 10 minutes and scrub off all the dirt with a scrubber and rinse with water 4. General cleaner: half water, half vinegar and 20 drops of eucalyptus

Thanks for keeping things so easy and simple!!! It really makes natural cleaning do-able instead of overwhelming! Another tip, pour salt in oven when cooking and food falls and burns. Then just sweep out afterwards.

Hi Hannah, thank you very much for watching the videos. The best I can do for washing up liquid is Ecover. It's a natural plant based washing up liquid. I buy it in a large container and then when it finished the shop refill my bottle so I'm cutting down on waste. Hope that helps. Love Nx

Fairyland Cottage Aaaggghhh! I was being too clever 😔I added Castile soap into the vinegar, water and eucalyptus oil and it’s VERY lumpy! It seems to be cleaning things fine and not blocking spray nozzle so far. So it’s usable; it just looks weird. 🥰

@@FairylandCottage Thieves essential oil is a combination of essential oils. There are many brands that carry it, some modify the combination. Legend has it thieves would use this specific combination of oils during the plague to steal from the dead and dying and would not be affected by the germs/virus/bacteria. Today people use it to ward off colds and flu.

Hi i use homemade thieves cleaner. I blend clove bud, cinnamon bark, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary essencial oils in a spray glass bottle with water. I like it specially in winter as its a very "cosy" scent. Confession on my weekly cleaning i still use commercial products then wipe off with my blend just to make sure i dont miss any nasties 🙈

makisoul yeah you could. Citric acid in lemon juice is suppose to be a stronger acid than acetic acid in vinegar so therefore should be better for stubborn stains but vinegar should work fine. Hope this helps. X

Mixing water with vinegar makes a gently acidic liquid and I use it in my house too. But using salt is wasting food for me, since it works as nothing more than a scrubber... So I simply use a scrubber without wasting money and food. And mixing acid (vinegar or lemon) with alkali (soda) is chemically nonsense, since it creates chemically neutral salt with CO2 (this makes bubbles and people when see bubbles f.i. on soap think often that bubbles "cleans" and lack of bubbles "does not clean") and with water... So the only thing that washes the surfaces is water and the power of human muscles, combine with scrubbing effect of soda before it melts... So, yes, I use lemon and I use soda, but never combining both :)

Aye, not a good idea to use stainless steel on enamel. I find using an all purpose cleaner and a scrubbie like a loofah will take stains off gently. If you use an abrasive on enamel it will impart tiny scratches that will make it easier for stains and dirt to stick to on the next go around. Also do not use abrasives on shower surrounds and tubs made of fiber glass it will do the same damage.

So before we get all starry eyed about BiCarb let's just take a look at how it's made and it's Carbon Footprint. In parts of the world (eg the USA) it is mined on an industrial scale while here in Europe it is produced from an industrial process with lots of nasty bi-products. Here's a report to the House of Lords in the UK publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200708/ldselect/ldeucom/197/197we05.htm. It may be marginally better than many household bleaches (tbh I don't know) - but just because you can dig it out of the ground doesn't make it environmentally friendly and here in the UK it's classed as an industrial chemical
