For those that ask if this career is worth it; It’s not the perfect career by any stretch of the imagination, but most if not all pilots would do it all over again. If you do it for the money it will suck the soul out of your body but if you are passionate about it you will love it, company policies and crew scheduling need not apply in the former statement. As a professional pilot, I suggest people to get their private Pilot license first, have fun and enjoy flying and you wont get crippling debt. And if You don’t want to incur even the cost of a private pilot license, just take a discovery flight and get it out of your system.

@Pilot-2020 Жыл бұрын
This is accurate in some places, long haul pilots often do 10+ hours flights and as a result suffers from jetlag. However, it is not realistic that they have to fly back the next day already, usually pilots get to rest for a day or two if their shift was long enough (most pilots are not allowed to be on duty for more than 14 hours), also the 100k bill for training is quite accurate, but there are also much less expensive training schools (depending on the country) PS: Pilots are actually allowed to play games during certain times of the flight
@erenteker6908 Жыл бұрын
Yup, regulations will not allow that kind of short rest. Your rest time cannot be less than twice of your flight time that day. If you fly for 10 hours, your minimum rest time would be 20 hours on a foreign base layover.

This is very accurate (to a point lol) I fly cargo for Mountain Air Cargo and this is pretty much the same thing we do every day but its a lot easier since I don't have to deal with passengers or anything. Im actually ok with the repetitiveness, you get used to it over time. Only part that sucks is the fact that I cant have a family or a pet or anything, but I came to terms with it a while ago so its all good. I chat with the boys on discord from time to time so that's always fun

This must really depend on the airline you’re working with, can’t really tell if it is actually this rough in the USA. Having my both parents working for the Finlands largest airline company Finnair, most of these things were accurate but in an exaggerated sense. Most crew hotels are 5 stars, minimum rest hours after long flights are mandated by laws and are usually several days in nice locations (in case of long flights), beverages and food are free for pilots, there’s definitely enough time to rest well, and when it comes to the airport security procedures, almost always they have their own lane to get through them quickly. But like said, I don’t have any experience on how it is in the states. Also the wages here are nowhere near as high as in America.

The airline life in the US is excellent by comparison to this video. The schedule depicted would be absolutely illegal for a US based pilot to fly
