Well I went to Amazon and ordered the thread checker and like you said it was $61. I figured I'd give the other five to friends and neighbors just like you had mentioned. Great idea!! Those way cheaper drywall screws are way cheaper for a reason! They're as hard as a file and brittle. They're intended to support drywall; not garage supplies. Construction grade screws like GRK or similar are more ductile and less likely to break if heavily loaded. Drywall screws are also bugle headed while construction screws are available with a pan head which is flat on the inside of the head thus providing good support without distorting the item that's being attached to the wall.
@mrkinetic Жыл бұрын
100%. I came here to find and upvote the drywall screw comment. They aren't meant to take sheering force. He should use construction screws.

10 years after we moved in I’m still living with the hodgepodge of organizers and shelves I slapped together out of scrap wood/doors and a nail gun on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Everyone always says “you have such an organized garage”. I just keep thinking if I just had a couple free days and a few hundred dollars to spare I could make it sooo much better. Still can’t get over how much materials cost. Started making a socket organizer for the top drawer of my tool chest from plywood and magnets. Still need to buy 3 more packs of magnets but looks like this organizer is going to end up costing $110 🇨🇦. To hold sockets…. It’s getting crazy out there. Who can afford to buy materials to build cabinets these days. Guess my doors will be up there a few more years.

I like the thread checker, if I don't win one of yours I'll probably get one for myself and for work. Great job on the process, you're obviously not a beginner but this is a good beginner organization because you used what you had with practical tips like don't put something in the way of your biggest vehicle. Have you considered just popping the top of the garage you have? Would cost you a reroof maybe but you can probably reuse the trusses. If you install the lift you might even be able to inch the reinforced roof up with the lift, just a thought.

Thanks for the video. I've been in my house for 3.5 years and the garage is still a mess. Between acreage, crops, work, renovations, and now a newborn...I've been chipping away at it slowly. My garage is 30x24 or so. I'm going to take a few ideas of yours and adapt them to my place. Spaghetti for wiring and DIY everything from the previous owners has been a huge setback. No overhead lighting either besides a single bulb socket and garage door openers...these people were nuts. I need to get a lot done on it before I can start hacking out woodworking projects, WWII Jeep restoration, and various other little things. I'm just spread too thin 😅 Anyway, good video, thanks for posting. I've subscribed for future videos and ideas 👍🏻

I’m late to the party. Does the thread checker cover SAE & metric or do you need 2 of them? Since it is a year ago I assume your offer has been closed. I am gutting my shop in the garage this winter. I have a 48’ metal building with a mother-in-law apartment in back quarter. All the junk from the shop is now where my truck normally parks. So I am looking for solutions. The outside walls have some plywood but most is just metal purlins with sprayed in foam. So adding wood studs is a treat let me tell you. Haha. Thanks for the video. Great ideas.
