I was diagnosed with this condition on a Monday and had my gallbladder removed on Friday. I had terrible , painful symptoms, weight loss, etc. before the surgery and I still have pain. Mainly pain in the upper right quadrant where my gallbladder used to be! I’ve seen many gastroenterologists since my surgery in 2016. No one seems to want to or is capable of helping me. I am in pain almost 24/7 (can’t speak for when I’m asleep). It hurts the most when I’m reclining. I told that to a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville about this pain and he suggested I needed mental therapy. The pain is real and I’m not going stand living with it much longer. I lived with 24/7 abdominal pain for 22 years, from age 19 to 41 and saw many gastroenterologists who all misdiagnosed me. I had abdominal adhesions. Once they were removed it was like the sun came out! I can’t in pain live that way anymore. This pain has been disabling me for almost 7 years now. I need competent, expert help. Please, if you can help me, I’d would be forever thankful.

This is a Medic sharing on KZbin - he never saw you, never saw any of your medical history. No Way he can offer you any actual medical advice, at all. You need to find a local Medic you can trust and seek answers from them.

A video titled "Pain is it all in their head" or something similar to that, on the subject of central sensitization came to mind when reading your comment. Studying central sensitization may be helpful to you. I'm thinking that the KZbin channel was Pain Week with Dr. Forest Tennant speaking on the subject. I just started this video. I watched one on Cholecystitis by Medicosis Perfectionalis weeks ago, and learned about the link between gallbladder issues and right shoulder stiffness due to the Phrenic nerve using the c5 nerve root, which is also part of the brachial plexus innervating the shoulder. I wanted to see what this video has to say about that link via the c5 nerve root. I'm wondering if that situation ever happens in reverse, where chronic right shoulder issues can affect the gallbladder. Also Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, the Scalene muscles of the neck pinching the nerves of the brachial plexus, including the c5 nerve root, and therefore that portion of phrenic nerve. If your watching TV while reclining, then that may have your Scalenes in the position to pinch on the nerves. Those muscles are so close to the spine it may still be considered nerve root they're pinching and not yet peripheral nerve.

Removal of the gallbladder does not always mean pain free. Good diet and smaller but regular meals may help. If you have yellowing of skin and eyes, it could mean your liver or Pancreas needs investigation.

I have a strange scenario. I fasted for 7 days and developed pain in my stomach about a week or so afterwards which would put me under acalculous cholecystitus. But the pain has been on my left side. I have all the symptoms, when I don’t eat the pain becomes so intense, it’s like I have to keep constantly eating in order to make the pain go away. Right shoulder pain. But the strange this is the pain is on the left side only. Sometimes it radiates to the center at the very top of where my ab muscles start. The only thing that has seemed to keep this in check is hot lemon water. I can be at a 10 out of 10 in pain for a week almost. I drink hot lemon water and I’m at 5 usually within 24 hours and 0 within a week. Have you ever come across the pain being on the left side instead of the right side of the abdomen? And lemon water helping to subside the pain? This doesn’t completely fix the issue because if I stop drinking lemon water for a week or so the pain comes back to a 10 in about a week later. What are your thoughts?

@@bksharif thank you so much for asking. So first thing I did was eliminate all processed foods/sugars from my diet, hydrogenated oils, fried foods basically low fat diet. More dark leafy greens veggies and I did a nightly protocol of 1/2 cup of olive oil 1/2 cup of flax oil 1/2 cup of grapefruit or lemon and 4 tablespoons of epsom salt. Drinking this before bed every night for 3 nights. I don’t have anymore pains in my upper abdomen region, no more right arm pain and no more slight nausea and dizziness. I feel much better!

@@bksharif hi sorry I didn’t see your comment. I’m doing 100% better! I made some changes for about a month that has completely fixed all issues I was feeling before. What I did first was removed all sugars and processed foods. I ate mostly dark leafy greens and vegetables and also 2 green apples everyday. I also stopped eating after 6. Before bed I did a gallbladder cleanse which included: olive oil, flax oil, grapefruit juice and epsom salt for 3 nights and switched sleeping positions. I’ve never felt more amazing to be honest with you. My strength is fully back, I sleep more comfortably and best of all NO MORE PAIN!!! How about you?

I have gallstones and went on a 12/8 fasting diet. After a week i had an acute attack of Cholecystitis. I therefore would not recommend this diet for those with gallstones!
