that's what it does. being at the top always place the spotlight on yourself in every aspect of life. be it a politician, a pro gamer, or even in your work place. There will be a lot of people that will funnel their hate toward someone they can tag it on, even if the person at the top isn't even responsible for it. just an example: hockey team: worst position to be: #1 goalie. because then, every losses becomes the goalkeeper's fault because he didn't stop the puck enough. thing is: it's a team effort. if the defence doesn't do its job, if the goalie's vision is obstructed, how do you want him to stop everything? if the offense doesn't score and fight to keep the puck in the other teams zone, same thing. all the fans hatred heads for either the goalie, or the head coach.

Hey ZeRo, I'd just like to say that back in the smash 4 days I was also one of those people that hated you winning, hated you, and just didn't like watching you play just because I felt like you were a player that took the game down. Seeing you lose lit me up with joy, and I don't think I've ever been so wrong about something in my life before. Honestly, you're a great, chill person. I love your content, and I love that you've been having fun with your job instead of trudging yourself through a competitive scene with toxic people such as how I was back then. I never directly said anything to you, but I would often go to school and rant about how much I hated ZeRo and that "hooo boy woo hoo zero won another tournament, when is this game gonna get interesting again." And I want to say sorry for all of that, sorry for indirectly being the cause for your anxiety, depression, and loss of fun with Smash.
@goldengoodra29414 жыл бұрын
I was similar in many ways. A lot of the most toxic stuff you see online is from teenagers who don't really think much of the effects of what they're saying. Like, "there's no way ZeRo's gonna actually see this." But other people will, and it just adds to the snowball effect. If ZeRo never came forward with all these videos, I wonder if I'd still be thinking the same way. At the end of the day, now that in the present moment, people like us have reformed and know what we did was wrong, I'd say everything is alright.

I'm glad you managed to get out of the pressure of everyone expecting you to win all the time and you took it gracefully. You're one of the most respectful, classiest top players of Smash history, it was crazy watching your Smash 4 matches, a few of my favorites were some of your Sheik vs. Pikachu (ESAM) matches

Man, seeing such a good player reflect like this has made me think, I've recently been starting with State wide Ultimate Tournaments and bad losses hit me hard sometimes, but seeing how you handled bad media and stuff makes me think.

What's funny is I was literally in a Twitch stream yesterday for amiibo, and your name came up because the topic of pro Smash player amiibos and how unstoppable they usually are was mentioned. Everyone was talking about happy they were for you doing KZbin and streaming. Glad to see the positivity spreading.

As someone who's dealt with so many almosts (Dabuz, Dath, ZD, Pink Fresh), I can relate to the emotional struggles of thinking you could've had that big moment, but just falling short. You just have to keep pushing on, honestly, and, ZeRo, you definitely helped me do that. I'm still not much of a big name in my play or my content, but I'mma keep at it, yo.

ZeRo...you're a legend...no one besides you and Armada, sonic fox, etc. Would ever dominate a scene like this. I doubt you remember me, but I remember the first time I saw you beat Nairo in 2012 XSmash brawl, and I went to dap you up and congratulate you for coming a long way, and you just hugged me XD out of bliss. Thanks for the inspiration and pushing the smash scene to grow.

I think it was mainly the fact that you were such an incredibly dominant force in Smash 4 that people rooted against you. It truly felt like there was no one out there that could touch you, or get anywhere close to where you were at. I wont say that I rooted against you, but I just love seeing even matches instead of complete stomps. With your dominating performances time and time again, it was hard for people to not cheer for your opponents. Your consistency over the course of all those tournaments for such a long period of time was too amazing, and you'll always be in my memory as one of the all time best players hands down to have graced the scene. For people to send you those threats, and to give you shit for losing is unacceptable. I'm happy to see where you've come after all this time, and that you're in a much happier place without the weight of that streak on your shoulders.

I mentioned this last video, but: Can you do a reaction to the most legendary sets in other fighting games? To start off with a lesser known game, Brawlhala had an epic game when Sandstorm faced Boomie in the MTN dew Amp Game Fuel grand finals. This could also give exposure to other great fighting games that don't get the credit they deserve.

Hey props to you Zero. It takes a lot to go over the worst moments, not everyone can look back on the bad and stay positive.
@mildlyconcerned2135 жыл бұрын
When it comes to competitive fighting games- unless Player Y actually did something horrible irl- you should be happy that Player X won, _not_ that Player Y lost. Removing biases from this argument, it's really stupid and pretty messed up because you're moving the spotlight from the person that should actually have it (the winner) onto somebody you don't like just so you can bash on them (the loser). Not to mention that it's also toxic considering the fact that you're purposefully going out of your way to hate on someone for losing a set thus- like what ZeRo said in the video- prolonging the L way more than it needs to be just for the sake sending death threats and hateful messages to them.
@lukebranam-wenger19995 жыл бұрын
I’ve always had so much respect for you as a competitor, through the win streak and the upsets. I never vocalized this respect through twitter or KZbin comments or anything, but I wanna point out that for all of the negativity that people expressed to you, I’m sure there were just as many if not more people who silently supported you and respected the hell out of you. Also, I’ve particularly been loving these reaction/commentary videos that you’ve been putting out lately. Keep on keeping on, ZeRo!
@lorenzray31825 жыл бұрын
Zero, I feel like this video could be a metaphor for everyday life and how one slip up, one mistake you make could be used to crucify you until seemingly no end. We as people forget humility and forget to put ourselves in other people's shoes and its such a sad truth that this happens. It's great to see you doing well and making dope content and still being involved in the Smash community, stay awesome dude 🤙.
