Note on the jigglypuff player scenario: I don't think anyone should cheer for him. My point isn't wether or not what he did is lame (it was), but rather that it's extremely unfair for commentators to be biased against you and paint you in a terrible light in front of thousands. It does irreparable damage to your career. I went through that it sucked terribly. They gotta be more responsible is my main point. Naturally camping won't make you liked but that's not what I'm arguing about here. I do think the other guy could have been more interactive to get back a lead and personally it's normal to get camped, making such a big deal about it isn't the play. I get your point and it's a good one. I've honestly never been impressed with Smash commentators, especially when there are absolutely legendary commentators in other games like Tastosis in StarCraft 2. They add so much to the match without ever detracting from one of the players, staying professional but also multiplying the entertainment value for the audience. Smash commentators always seem to me to be just random dudes hanging out in the venue that scream loudly or yell "omg clip that" when literally anything happens.

The problem is that smash commentators commentate like wrestling commentators,which is a good thing in wrestling because it is staged,with guys designed to be loved and others to be hated,the commentators that are almost a part of the fiction,etc... But Smash is way closer than a "true" sport than it is to wrestling,so this kind of commentating is just straight up disrespectful,since they are talking about players,not actors. Smash commentators should be sport commentators.

The problem with a lot of esports commentators is they usually aren't actual trained commentators with experience on how to commentate. It's quite often just some other player, or someone who works for the company that organised the event etc. So they just say whatever they are thinking without the necessary experience to know it's not something you should say or how you should act.

It's fine if you (as the audience) don't endorse his play style, that's your opinion. (It's also my opinion that camping is "playing the game", albeit less exciting but I'm just a casual so what do I know?) Anyway Zero's argument is with the commentator obviously antagonizing his play style (camping). I didn't know those two players before Zero mentioned them, but because of the commentator booing him; I was inclined to dislike the Jigglypuff player. There are a few points I want to say about the Jigglypuff controversy I think during the jigglypuff scenario that wobbling was banned (could be wrong) so if thats the case then that's one criticism out of the fight out the window However as someone that has been on the receiving end of camp play and dealt out campy play (also in games other than smash), it is by far the least fun I have ever seen and experienced Stalling and campy plays in my opinion should be discouraged if we don't want a scenario where the Pokemon Grand Finals (Gen 6) happens (Would recommend watching top ten unfair things in pokemon by the Aura Guardian) A third thing I should mention is that smash tournaments also live and die by their viewership since Nintendo won't help with the competitive scene like League of Legends gets, if viewers do not like to watch something they won't watch it, and I believe there are even rules against time stalling for every type of tournament, so it would be a bit hypocritical not to be pissed about this Lastly, there is always going to be bias with the commentators, that's kind of what makes commentators a commentator The best thing you can do is to try to try to circumvent that, even then there are commentators that were biased to a player where i disagreed with the commentator, granted this could have been just me, but there are scenarios like that I feel needs to be adressed I enjoyed the video about the controversies though

Well Zero I understand you completly but where does the price money come from? People watching is important so tournaments even exist so if everybody just camps even if its the best thing to do no one would watch and it would totally destroy the competitive scene you can not blame anyone for playing even if its camping however. imo its just a flaw of the game tbh.
