Am I the only one who noticed how Inst.00 explaining zeta halo “breaking” is extremely similar to how we’ve been seeing the ring in recent arts released for halo infinite and even the gameplay demo with the ring looking like it’s deteriorating kind of? There are huge land masses separated from each other floating in the sky and the ring looks like it’s under some kind of emergency protocol, like it’s trying to protect certain things on it.

Further the flood could have possibly ran as well though I don't know off hand any lore proof of that. And we know that there are races outside the Galaxy, Guilty Spark watched over one of their crashed ships for months. But alas, idk. For all we know, Warhammer 40k could be happening three Galaxy's over to the left with Mass effect happening one to the right. And Stargate a universe away.

The setting that 343 is putting together has me very anxious as Zeta Halo has sooooooo much potential and with an open world game, we may be able to realize that potential better than if it were a traditional Halo FPS.

It’s not the demo that is worrying, the fact infinite is looking/sounding like a COD:MW/War-zone clone. It’s like they are trying to appeal to Cod/fortnite Players (Which most are a bunch of 10yr olds). They’re making multiplayer free to play (Warzone) and campaign paid for, aiming down sites is incredibly reminiscent of Cod, hit markers (some COD have always done and never halo until 5). The fact that Microsoft is pushing for the game release at November, instead delaying till April say it’s gonna be 50/50 another halo 5 at launch again or good. Which is incredibly risky Hence why people are incredibly Paranoid/annoyed about Infinite. Bad part aside, I’m happy for the new None linear campaign (make me think of Metroid Prime trilogy) direction (hopefully not completely stuck to Zeta halo but different locations as well). They do need to listen to older halo fans (pre halo 4) because it’s going to flop if they cant bring them back. The storyline is looking like an improvement over H5s and H4s. Needs to include the SoF somehow. Loving the New weapons (except the shotgun 343 changing that doesn’t need to be changed again) and drop abilities. On the fence about the grapple hook in the game, it’ll be alright for SP but not so good for MP.

Duke of Petchington all valid points but I’m over the concern talk from the community. Some channels have made SEVERAL videos about their concerns. The Demo was clearly not even close to a finished product. Folks need to take that demo with a grain of salt and take a deep breath. It was clearly missing many details and probably demonstrated on a older build. The goal for the demo was to give a glimpse of the new environmental exploration potential, weapon development ( I’m totally ok with a new shotgun), and enemy faction. I personally don’t get the COD feel but that’s just me. Maybe a few reminiscent details but i feel that’s just the evolution of FPSs. Halo(343) will forever be stuck in a battle between appealing to old original fans and new fans/younger kids. Not easy to please everyone but they will however make sure that the franchise does not fail financially. Loosing some of the older fans who advocate for pre halo 4 game mechanics will not hurt Halo as much financially as if they were to disregard new fans and younger kids. Again, they have to find a good balance to appeal to both sides. I for one had no problem with Halo 5s gameplay, I did however dislike the way the story was told. I’m with you, I hope that this game is not limited to Zeta Halo but if it is, lore wise there is much to explore. I would however love to see this journey to the ark and meet up with that conflict over there.... maybe in an expansion later on. Just a thought.

From what I remember from the books, the original halos were larger and had directional firing. If a planet was infected, one of these halos would be brought in and could sterilize just the infected individual planets. They were like lasers vs the latter halos being like nukes.

@@joshuametzger10951 Correct though this design approach ultimately led to their failure as an effective weapon, as they were too large to be moved quickly enough to contain the threat. Even with forerunner portal technology they had issues moving that much mass, the Halos being transported was the cause of devastating slipspace blockages during the closing years of the war, and likely a contributing factor to the difficulties connecting to the Domain as well

Zeta Halo is also pivotal in the story Halo: Hunters in the Dark, as it's how the main character realizes that the Halo array was just set on a countdown to firing. Later when the main characters is go to the ark, after joining up with the two elites that players 3 and 4 play as in Halo 3, they find out that a monitor, 000 Tragic Solitude, made from the mind of the last leader of the forerunners just after the firing of the array, set the timer to draw them there to get revenge against humanity for nearly destroying the Ark when installation 04b was fired. they also find out that the countdown is wholly unnecessary as the Halo array doesn't even need seconds to charge up it can fire instantly. Sorry hunters in the dark was one of my favorite books, in my mind the only thing wrong with it is it introduced Olympia Vale into the series... I f****** hate her in Halo 5 me and my friends always kill her and then when she respawns we kill her again.

Magos Numenius I don’t hate Vale as much as I hate the Spartan 4s in general. But i think that was the point 343 was trying to make. Vale the character as introduced in Hunters in the Dark was not “Spartan” material yet because of her background in Sanghelli language and culture, she some how became a candidate for the Spartan 4 program. It shows the difference in Halseys Spartans IIs and all the others to follow, especially the IVs. It’s as Halsey said in Spartan Ops “some are closer than others” to her true Spartans, but Most just “play” Spartan. I would have much better like to see her in the same light as Veta Lopis and maybe train and operate with that Ferret team in SPI armor.

Magos Numenius agreed. I think that is what the Halsey story is trying to tell. It’s not the suit, it’s the warrior inside the suit. Don’t get me wrong. There are a few IVs that are Spartan worthy but the vast majority of them are not. Buck, Palmer, Thorn, and a few others are some good examples.

The Halo Array can fire instantly? That's not exactly what it looked like in the games. Based on the final Arbiter/Tartarus scene at the end of Halo 2, and the whole bridge battle where the Flood are your allies in Halo 3, it takes at least several minutes for the Halo(s) to charge up after activation. Unless there was some sort of an explanation to this in the book.

Ancient Humans: overpowered versions of us... Forerunners: A hyper-intelligent/powerful species that wrongly held the Mantle of Responsibility for a substantial amount of time. They are responsible for most, if not all, alienating technologies and artefacts across the Milky Way Galaxy. They are also the supposed “Gods” that the Covenant worshipped for their inconceivable might and power - it’s one of the reasons why they went on a genocidal crusade against humanity; though realistically, they should have also worshipped the Ancient Humans as well, and by extension, modern humans as well... Mendicant Bias: A Contender-Class AI responsible for the fall of Maethrillian and critical to the fall of the Forerunners The Flood: a corrupted version of the Precursors that could also be a stage of development for said Precursors. Originally Bungie wanted Humans and Forerunners to be the same thing. Humanity forgot who they were and the whole point is for them to “Reclaim” the mantle or their place in the galaxy. Look up cut cinematic storyboards of Chief opening a forerunner crypt and the skeleton inside is human. The original hints at this even in CE-343 guilty spark saying “you’ve done this before Reclaimer” Bungie wanted to keep them mysterious though in the end and 343i changed this to make them their own thing. Precursors are The Flood and why the Gravemind says “ I am a monument of all your sins” Ancient Humans/ Forerunners turning on their creators(precursors) I like where Bungie was going and this is my head-canon. Though what 343i did is similar in a lot of ways. Now ancient humans and Forerunners are different things, the Forerunners devolved humans back to stone age and the UNSC is that version of ourselves evolving back to where we were.

At the time, I didn't understand why they'd even bothered to create the character since they didn't kill him off in the books and as far as we knew at the time, the game series was over.

It always strikes me as being odd that the Forerunners were content to keep Mendicant around in a suspended state. This same series of events has the Primordial being effectively executed, so it doesn’t seem like there’s some great moral question of getting rid of something sentient. If I were the Didact and my AI just conspired with one of my worst enemies I wouldn’t retain it at all, much less drag it back to like the second most sensitive area my people control.

If you can make sense of the orbital mechanics as described from Chakas' POV (so basically ~ a viking level of intelligence) there's actually a really nice "timelapse" of the approach to the planet, the realization they gonna hit, the realignment, then an acid trip description of the actual transit of the planet through the ring, all in the 2nd of the forerunner trilogy of books. All sentient life, the flood isn't technically Sentient, only the gravemind is, so presumably only the gravemind is subject to the halo array, with the rest of the flood being untouched, leaving it to rebuild another gravemind, which it eventually did by halo 2.

Does anyone feel like Installation 00 has lost a bit of his passion... Like he has always had the monotone voice and we love it... But it just feels a bit less excited and absolutely into it... Was the Infinite Release so dissapointing that he was in a way very much winded... Like the wind was taken out of his sails a bit? Or am I just projecting my emotions on him.

Offensive didn't have any major associations with Zeta Halo. He was certainly a pivotal part of the closing days of the Forerunner Flood war but didn't cross paths with 07 very often.

Just sounds like Medicant Bias was taken offline and turned into a nonissue at this point which means he didn’t make his final push against the Forerunners and Offensive Bias didn’t have to take him down with the array. But maybe I’m just misinterpreting. Either way it’s all a good way to meld a story together.
