Did you have to go through all the gears before topping off? I heard you have to hold different gears for a few seconds to get all fluid into all the channels.

Yes! In drive & reverse. That helps to circulate the fluid in the system!

I did however put the part# in the description. For the kit. It’s from FCP euro. U can put in your year and model on there site and they may have a service kit for your vehicle.

The filter is built is in to the trans pan on this model. When vehicle have higher mileage it’s good to leave a bit of the old trans fluid in to prevent wiping out the clutches. 100% all new fluid could do more harm than good. Maybe it’s a good idea if u change it every 3 years or 30-40k. Then again European transmissions are different from ford and gm where u can just unhook one of the trans cooler lines and do a complete flush!

Its usually all up to the customer or the owner of the vehicle. everyone has a different opinion of weather or not they should or not. if the car runs good hand have no problems i could not hurt. 100k is not a bad mileage but i probably would not after a much higher mileage.@@AveGuy1

Thanks! A simple scan tool that reads live data and works with BMW is all u need. A launch crp 123 or 129x from Amazon will get the job done.

You Hit it right on the spot! Lifetime for BMW usually means mileage up to 100k.

Yes! That’s around 96k In US miles. Transmision oil with filter. It can’t hurt if the trans is not already having any major problems. Changing the fluid will improve shifting and increase transmision life.

Honestly I’ve done it with out a scanner stating off as a tech over 15 years ago. It was how I was taught. I’d say 8-10 min if it’s cold. You want to fill it while it’s warm not to hot but not to cold. You could also use an inferred thermometer and aim at the lower case of the trans.

It’s not. But it’s highly recommended especially if there is is a loss of fluid over time from a leak. It resets the learning curve of the trans!

If you’re doing a pan w/filter replacement it’s will Take around 7 litters. The torque converter, trans lines , trans cooler and the rest of the trans will have 3 or so litters in it.

@@simioncsm5042 The service manual says the the transmission has lifetime fluid, lifetime usually means 100k miles. But ZF the manufacture of the transmision recommends servicing the trans every 50k or 8 years witch ever comes 1st.

It’s kinda hard to replace it all because some is stored in the torque converter and transmission lines. It’s is possible to to change it then drive it. Drain 3-4 litters then add another 3-4 litters.

It all depends on how much comes out. Every vehicle will be different. This one took right at 7 liters.

Then new Trans pan has magnets there just in a different location. It’s an improved pan design and has a bigger filter to.

After the first fill you should of shifted it into all gears which you didn’t do, so that’s not good brother

y do 3 steps more with automatic gearbox that are never flushed, before pull out the hydraulic part y flush new oil in it until new dripping out. y unscrew the coolant lines and flush new oil in it until clean oil came ou of the other coolant line new filter, pan and fill up procedure , Go drive a little , 20/30miles and flush again (without take off the pan) Y do this so the new oil do not mix up with the old one
