This is an amazing find. I have heard the history of this song. Now I can actually hear it in its original recording. In the late 1940’s or early 1950’s, song with this kind of lyric was controversial. It was banned in China when it first released, The sound quality is also very representative of early recording, which makes it even more special. Thank you for posting it.

Very wonderful to learn that! I'm sure parents weren't too fond of their daughters learning to ask 'When will you come again?" At the time haha

Wow. My friend posted this in our whatsapp group, and it took me right back to the 1960s growing up in a small town in Malaya (now Malaysia). You hear it all the time.

This was probably during the Hey day of China's Nationalist party stage in which Western taste greatly influenced music in places like Shanghai and Nanjing. It created the whole 20's 30's roaring 20s esque scene and its honestly beautiful to look back on and see the way the dressed and were. Stephen Chows Kung Fu Hustle paints a good picture of what that era was like!

I think there is a second part for the song? It's too bad, there aren't any physical media (cd) box sets that compile her entire discography with a picture book of her life story. Some music organisation or company in China should undertake such a project.
