maybe you are using stabilization on the iPhone. If you move with slow grade moves, a video will be even more smooth, but if you make fast moves while recording then you will have these stepping and shaking. Check that option on the iPhone and play with it, try when it is turned on and then turn it off and see if there will be any different.

ok then try this - Download Zhiyun Assistant App (Ios) - goo.gl/98E3jM Then connect your gimbal over the app and find settings for the motor speed, reduce them to 5 or 10 (I think by default they are around 20) and then for sure you will get more smooth shoots. Let me know what happened at the end did you sucessed.

It really depends on your preference. This zhiyung app you can use when you want to set up gimble and if you want to track some objects. Other than that you can use stock camera app or some more advanced apps for the camera. Zy play app I didn`t try at all :) So you can use any app which is suitable for your needs.

Just a heads up. The smooth q gimbal app only works with certain phones and it isn't that many. Also, the weight limit is not 220g as stated by the company.AGM X! I have is 210g and the motors cannot lift the phone. Motorola phones are not compatible with the app including new G5 Plus. No issue with you guys as I didn't purchase my gimbal from you but directly from the company. Just to save you the headache of people bringing gimbals back.

Yes exactly, I feel also that by default it is too fast. It is saved once you set it up so you don`t need to worry anymore. But also anytime you can set it up again to other speed.

sandip sen Hi,3 can support 260g max(q:220g max),440g ultra light(q:450g),continuous runtime up to 14 hours(q:12 hours). Smooth3-innovative handwheel control. 3 is build from aluminium material and its motors are more responsive. I would say smooth 3 is a little bit better than smooth q but not so big difference.

Removable battery is the biggest difference. Smooth Q has a non removable battery, which is to say the battery will eventually die after a certain amount of charge cycles.

My Samsung Galaxy 3 (in it's Pelican protection case) face/screen falls way forward. Any suggestions on how to balance that so it's not so hard on the motor? Also, as it is, if I put in the locking mode the face would just fall forward so I couldn't even use that mode.

Are you talking about Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Tab 3? I suppose S3 because Tab 3 should not even fit. But then for S3, it is a very small phone so you should not have any issues with it. If the case is making problem then just remove the case while using it with the gimbal.

This zhiyung app you can use when you want to set up gimble and if you want to track some objects. Other than that you can use stock camera app or some more advanced apps for the camera.

However, that will be great if I can get some of these others and compare. If I get one, definitely I will do a comparison video. For now, I am very satisfied with smooth Q, in some of the next videos I will put only videos recorded with it so it will be more enjoyable than this one which is more into technical details.

I wanted to buy one for myself but when I looked last summer the cheapest electronic one I saw on Ali was ~$250 so I thought that was a bit out of my budget. I want to use my 3.5 mm jack to connect to a lapel mike. Is there space to insert a mike?

Hi. That is an excellent question. On my phone - Samsung S7 the 3.5mm port is from the left bottom side so I am able to push the phone to that extent that 3.5mm port will be free and when I plug in mic the tilt axis motor will not be on the way and I can use the gimbal with the mic plugged in. However, if you have some other phone maybe for you it will not work like it works for me. It depends on the size of your phone and place of 3.5mm port. If it is on top of the phone then you will not have any issues. The only problem can be when the port is on the bottom of the phone and somewhere in the middle because then you will not be able to move the phone that much - the mic jack will hit tilt axis motor. In that case, the only solution is that you move the phone from tilt axis holder, but then the phone will be loose so you need to be extra careful because it will be held with only two points (from camera clamp holder) instead of three (the one next to tilt axis motor).

Yeah, then it should not be the problem. Not sure only because of the size (because the edge is larger than regular s7) if the gimbal clamp can stretch to that extent that you will miss tilt axis motor. But I think you will be fine. FYI - Easy fix if the gimbal is shown in your video. Simply move the phone to the other side until the gimbal is no longer visible. Make sure you recalibrate best you can, though it doesn't need to be perfectly balanced. The motors will compensate.

OutdoorsIQ yes, but as you noticed then you need to move the phone to recalibrate and gimbal will be again visible :). Yes, motors can still calibrate even if it is not perfectly balanced but then they will consume more power. That is good solution if you need this following mode but in most situations I think first two mode will be used. Thanks for quick fix tip and for watching this video.

Mine was a disaster. The hardware worked OK. The software and app never worked and crashed my computer. Tried their web site and it had virus warnings and links went to games. Took mine back. Also did not work with my Samsung phone, never got it to balance with the bigger phone.

Hi, JC. Sorry to hear that. That thing with viruses is maybe due to your computer, not their website. Which Samsung phone you were using? They clearly stated limitations to which the gimbal will work without any problem and these are - display sizes within 6.0", and max payload is 200g.

It supports both Android and IOS devices. In general it supports smartphones with sizes within 6.0", and max payload is 200g. So, it should support both J7max and note5 because they are both less than 6.0" and less than 200grams.

Sve, when I push the joystick up, the camera tilts down. And pushing down, it tilts up. When I have the gimbal's buttons facing away from me (on the back side), and the smart phone's screen facing me, then the button orient correctly (up on the joystick tilts the camera up). Yours appears to tilt correctly with the controls facing you. How did you achieve this, or how can I reverse mine,?

That is very strange indeed. For me, it was like this by default settings. Maybe you can try to set it up using the app (I left the download link in description part of this video).

It is actually pretty good. However, you need some skills how to handle it so it will give even more smooth videos. This was my first time to use gimbal so that can be the reason for not so smooth videos. I plan to make one new video where I will put just videos that I made with it, but that will take some time because I want to collect good materials, and as the time goes I will have more practice so stay tuned for that new video and then make your final judgment :)

phone image stabilisation and gimbals stabilisation if put together they create jello effect, thats why you aint seeing super smooth. the device is really capable, in fact, compared to the double priced one theyre the same(in matter of stabilisation). search reviews.

Using my android device with this gimbal, the zhiyun app is really bad. Tracking is not usable and keeps disconnecting BT. If you are a android user, look at other brands with better software, do not buy because it is cheap.. you'll regret.

What android phone are you using? For me, the tracking worked perfectly as you saw in the video. However, I am mostly using this gimbal without their zhiyun smooth app because I just need it for more stable videos and not some other fancy things like tracking, timelapse and other features they offer on their app :)

Hi Unboxing Sve, with tracking I mean the software option in their App(left lower corner) to folow objects and faces. I do use it for the same reason as you do not;) When a object is selected and you move your gimbal it should track this object, this can give a very smooth effect because the software is controlling your gimbal. These software options can make the video more interesting because it expands the capabilities of this gimbal. Have tested with Iphone(works good) and with Samsung S5/ Motorola phone.

I see it works in your video, but when using this feature in practical situations like every one would do.. it does fail allot on android. But maybe instead of releasing new phone gimbals (08-03-2018 reveal) they could make their app. work better so customers are not buying this other brand because of the software.

Yes, I totally agree. It is shame that they don`t improve app and that it should be stable on any phone and any platform. The hardware is really good, so they should focus on improving the software side of it, and it will be perfect :)

geodark you are not right. If you put it into opposite side then first thing is that you will not be able to see what you are filming (unless you turn gimbal for 180 degrees into this "selfi mode" which is not default mode! Second thing is that your display will be blocked and you will not be able to set focus and other things. So nope, you are not right. This black dot is because of the size of the phone. For some other phones it will not be visible.
